Story
Warning: Smores may cause sudden increases in daily fetch, a suspicious number of peanut-butter-related purchases, and a new habit of saying “okay ONE more throw” 47 times.
Want to see Smores in action? Give her video a watch: https://youtu.be/A4ugUNYbnNw
This 1-year-old cutie has a one-of-a-kind look, from her black and tan coat to her adorable little “apostrophe eyebrows” that always seem to have something to say! Weighing 51 lbs, Smores is the perfect size and mix of playful energy with snuggly sweetness. She even had a DNA test done, which revealed a unique mix of multiple breeds including American Bulldog and Australian Cattle Dog. This is exactly why we say “rescue is my favorite breed!”
Smores lives for interactive play. Fetch? Yes. Tug-of-war? Absolutely. Water adventures? She’s in (and the water is fine!) But don’t worry, when the games are done, she’ll happily scoot in close for those best-bed cuddle benefits.
Smores has lived in a family home so we are able to share information about her as a house dog and family pet. She’s a sweet family dog, having lived with kids ages 6-10 and always a gentle playmate. She is best suited in a relaxed, easy-going home and ideally she is perfectly built for suburban-life or even better, a rural setting with access to a little swimming hole (a girl can dream right?)
When it comes to dogs, Smores is social and dog-friendly. She does great in group play, including with small dogs, and loves chase games. She loves medium energy dog-friends with a happy but calmer play style rather than chaotic, wildlings. All around Smores is fun, upbeat, and active and as much as she would love a doggie friend, she does not need one. We could see her thriving as an only dog if she had regular doggie playdates, playtime with her people, enrichment toys, and a routine including walks/adventures. Smores is easy to walk on leash which will only make it that much easier.
With new people, Smores can be a bit shy at times but a little warm up time and/or some baby-talk is all it takes. Once she bonds, she’s all yours and very loyal.
Currently we think Smores would be best in a cat free home. She has lived with cats before but given they were cats she initially met as a puppy it feels situational. When she met our house cat she wanted to chase him and we all know how cats feel about being chased by a dog. She can be retested later, but for now we’re playing it safe.
Smores is a smart cookie who enjoys puzzle toys/brain games, will happily work for treats (peanut butter is a #1 choice) and she already has great home skills- she is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands.
If you’re looking for a playful, smart, affectionate sidekick who can go from “go time” to “couch time” without missing a beat, **Smores** is ready and waiting for you!

Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs.
Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?
The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!
Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:
• 30-day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8-week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
We celebrated our 7-year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 18,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
