Story
Riley is eight months old and 25 pounds. She is exceptionally playful and enjoys the company of children. She has a fondness for walks, frozen carrots, chasing bubbles, and swimming. While she loves playing in water, she is not particularly fond of baths which is hilarious. Riley is also affectionate and loves to cuddle. She will happily accompany you to every room! Furthermore, she will sit beside you while you are doing homework or even watch television with you. Playing fetch is also one of her favorite activities! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Riley III, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet Lacy! She’s a two year old Aussie mix who is a small girl at just 25-ish pounds. Shes great with other dogs and children. She hasn’t met a cat yet, but we think she would be just fine given her calm nature. Lacy is heartworm positive but her treatment is included as part of her adoption fee. She’s already started her pre-treatment medication for this. Lacy is calm, sweet and a little shy, but she warms up quickly! Shes already housebroken and crate trained! Interested in Lacy? Story
This handsome boy is Reno, an Australian Kelpie mix that was brought in as a stray to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/12. He weighs 36 pounds and is about 2 years old. Reno appears to have been nicely cared for. He knows the sit and paw commands (in fact he will give you both left and right paws). He is very sociable, friendly, affectionate, wants to climb into your lap and will give kisses. He is a charming, gentle, sweet, well-behaved boy who would doubtless make someone a wonderful companion. He does walk well on a leash. He played with several toys and balls in our meet and greet room. Reno is also quite the curious boy. In the yard, he had his nose to the ground and covered pretty much the entire area. He loves treats and takes them quite politely. He sincerely hopes that his stay at the shelter will be a short one and that a new person or family with step forward and adopt or foster and stay committed to him. Reno is a delightfully sweet, loveable and charming boy. He deserves to live as an inside dog spending time with his loving family.

Heartworms are treatable, and with the right care (which our team is happy to talk to you about low cost treatment options in our area), I can go on to live a long, happy, and healthy life. Many wonderful dogs like me test positive for heartworms through no fault of our own and we just need a little extra TLC and some time to heal. The most important thing I need right now is a loving home where I can rest, recover, and feel safe. Please don’t let the word heartworm make you pass me by, I have so much love to give, and I promise I’ll make every bit of the journey worth it. If you’re looking for an amazing dog who’s ready for a fresh start, I’m your new best friend. At Arlington Animal Services, every dog is individually evaluated by multiple members of our experienced team. When a dog is placed into our adoption program, it means they have shown friendly behavior toward people and other dogs, and no negative behaviors have been observed in our shelter environment. If you already have a dog at home, we encourage you to bring them to the shelter for an official meet-and-greet to help ensure a smooth and happy introduction. Story
Meet Marjorie! Marjorie is a beautiful brindle pit bull mix, about 42 pounds, at 2 years old, and is so deserving of a forever home! She has been through a lot in her short life including being a wonderful mama to a 9-pup litter in the fall of 2023 around the time she was rescued by Saving Hope, plus overcoming heartworms and a bad respiratory virus that nearly took her life. Marjorie is stronger and healthier than ever now; her puppies found homes, now she is eagerly waiting for hers! She does wonderfully in her crate at night and during the day when her foster mom is at work. As she is not destructive, once she is settled into her forever home (generally 3 weeks to 3 months depending on the dog), she can be left out of her kennel. As with so many dogs, she is naturally nervous in new situations, and thus needs continued work on building confidence. She thrives with clear direction from her person and positive feedback when she does the right thing – she tries her very best to follow all the rules! She has the cutest tippy-tap dance when excited, waiting for a treat, or when she’s working on a skill. While there are no children in her current foster home, she loves everyone and would likely do well with children 10+ as she appreciates her space being respected and a calm household would help her adjust faster.Marjorie loves nothing more than to keep busy managing squirrels and lizards in the yard. This is her main energy outlet currently, so a backyard would be ideal. She needs at least a 6-foot tall fence when off leash because this girl is athletic… anyone want an agility dog? She might be it! She exhibits prey drive tendencies so cats, small dogs or other small animals are not a good fit. She takes breaks to sunbathe and would be content to do this nonstop, but she listens well when it’s time to come inside.Marjorie is threshold trained and is working on leash skills for walks using a prong collar and cues/guidance to walk alongside her human. She gets excited at the sight of other creatures but will sit on command until her person is ready to go. When it’s time to rest, she is very respectful of furniture but if she is invited up, she will be more than happy to cuddle.Marjorie is very quiet unless she is barking at a squirrel or playing with her foster brother, who she has become quite close to (a boxer/pit bull mix). She is somewhat dog selective and has some resource guarding tendencies surrounding speci
