New to our rescue, but we have been watching and playing with her while she was at the shelter. We just know who ever adopts her will have a best pal gal for life. Thankfully a good Samaritan found him and brought him safely to us. He is affectionate, happy, and very loving. He is also a Doggie Day Out ROCKSTAR and loves going out on walks with our volunteers. They report that he greets everyone he meets with patience, kindness and eagerness... almost like he is hoping this might be the person to give him the chance he needs. Kirby has a lot going against him... he is a big black dog in the shelter... something that already makes it harder for him to find a forever home. Then there is the heartworm status. Kirby has tested positive for heartworms, but please don`t let that stop you....A Quick Note About My Heartworm Status I’ve tested positive for heartworms, but don’t let that scare you! Heartworms are treatable, and with the right care (which our team is happy to talk to you about low cost treatment options in our area), I can go on to live a long, happy, and healthy life. Many wonderful dogs like me test positive for heartworms through no fault of our own and we just need a little extra TLC and some time to heal. The most important thing I need right now is a loving home where I can rest, recover, and feel safe. Please don’t let the word heartworm make you pass me by, I have so much love to give, and I promise I’ll make every bit of the journey worth it.
