This stunning girl has the most gorgeous blue eyes and a sweet, loving personality to match. She is potty trained and kennel trained, making her an easy addition to any home. She walks nicely on a leash, knows her basic commands, and is incredibly smart — she learns new things quickly and loves to please. One of her favorite things is to chase balls. She can do it all day long. Although she enjoys playtime, she also knows how to relax and chill with her people. She is friendly with some dogs, but prefers to be an only dog. Because of her playful nature, she would do best in a home with children over 8 years old. She is fully vetted, heartworm negative, and ready to become a wonderful family dog or loyal companion. Riley is eight months old and 25 pounds. She is exceptionally playful and enjoys the company of children. She has a fondness for walks, frozen carrots, chasing bubbles, and swimming. While she loves playing in water, she is not particularly fond of baths which is hilarious. Riley is also affectionate and loves to cuddle. She will happily accompany you to every room! We recently started fostering Kash, and are trying to find him his forever home. Kash is a 10-year-old, 37lb Australian Kelpie mix who came to us after a heartbreaking situation — the dog he had lived peacefully with for years suddenly became aggressive towards him, and his mom made the incredibly tough choice to rehome him so he could be safe. Kash is a very sweet boy. He’s potty trained, walks well on a leash, calm in the car, and content staying home alone. He’s independent but loves affection, and he’s been wonderful with our dogs — even our rambunctious 1-year-old heeler puppy. You may notice some wounds in the photos from where he was attacked, those are now fully healed. Kash deserves a loving home for his golden years. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-maintenance companion, Kash might be your guy!

Meet Annie! She is a 3yr old spayed female American Pitbull mix that weighs 40lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on as a stray 8/26/2025. She was adopted for one day but returned due to her very active playful manner. Yes, its true she is a spitfire! She loves to chase toys, doing zoomies in the play yard, and can be a bit mouthy with excitement. Once she runs out her energy she will sit right next you on the bench to be petted and will shower you with kisses. She does love treats but does not always take them gently so she will need additional training. She would do best with a person with an active lifestyle that can dedicate time to Annie to help her be the best pup she can be. She always has a big smile on her face and her tail wags non-stop. You can tell she wants to be your one and only pup in the home. With her energy level it maybe best. Please discuss with the shelter staff if you have another dog in the home so a dog test can be arranged. This super friendly lovebug can’t wait to find her own loving home. Nutmeg is approximately 4 years old and is a red heeler mix. He is always happy and gets along with other dogs and currently lives in a household with a cat. He is moderately playful and willing to follow other dogs leads. Because of his herding instinct he does nip at strangers that come on his turf. We aren't sure how he is with small children but believe he will do well with older ones. Nutmeg is housetrained, neutered and current on his vaccines. He doesn't like being in a crate so is loose in the house or outside. We feel he would be fine in a one dog family providing his human(s) has the desire and plenty of time to spend with him. A home visit is part of his adoption process so he is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. This handsome 5-year-old purebred Blue Heeler is a loyal, and high-energy dog looking for the right home. As he matured out of his puppy phase, he developed a confident personality and started wanting to be the alpha dog. Because of this, he has recently begun having conflicts with my older dog and no longer gets along well with him. He would do best as the only pet, or if you do have other dogs, it’s best that you are an experienced owner willing to do slow and careful introductions.Ideally, he would thrive in a home with land, room to run, or livestock experience, where his herding instincts can shine.
