Story
Meet Rex! He was surrendered to the shelter on 4/15 by his owner when he became homeless and had no place for Rex to go. His former owner did say that Rex is house trained and he is good with kids and other animals. Rex seems like a really sweet boy who would do best with an active family because he's quite energetic and playful! He does have a bit of a skin issue that will need to be checked by a vet, but we're sure with a little TLC that will clear right up! If you're looking for an adventure buddy who would love to join you on hikes and runs, then Rex may be just the pup for you! Rex is a year old and he weighs 46 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines and he has already been neutered and microchipped. Rex did test negative for heartworms, so that is great news! Please come meet this fun boy in run 413, his ID # is 643920. Please note, all of the pet listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers, not shelter staff. If this pet came in as lost (not an owner surrender), we don't know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When calling the shelter about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER, names are oftentimes made up by volunteers. This pet and many others are available for adoption from the Cobb County Animal Shelter 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, call (770) 499-4136 for more information. Shelter hours are: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment only until further notice, CLOSED Mondays & Holidays.

Story
A SWEET SPIRIT LEARNING TO LOVE:  4 Years old / 39 lbs. Hello, my name is Mary Ann!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and it took me a bit of time to get comfortable.  I got to spend some time in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot!  Now I’m in a great foster home while I wait for you to find me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I really opened up with them.  I also love playing with and cuddling with the dogs in my foster home, especially the younger, more playful types.  My trainer thinks another dog in my home will REALLY benefit me and my foster thinks I would not be happy without another playful dog in the home as I depend on them for confidence and tend to shut down without this interaction.  If you have a nice playful dog at home already, let’s meet! / No cats as I have shown prey drive to chase them, not in a fun way.  /  I met a nice boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts, but I did not interact with them.  I was too shutdown at the shelter to let my true self show.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet girl, but I was very scared and unsure at the shelter, so it took time for my true nature to emerge.  I have been gaining confidence in my foster home.  At first I only wanted to go in my foster’s yard if the other dogs were out there, but now I enjoy just playing with my toys and people in the yard.  My foster says I am super gentle and sweet.  My soulful eyes are sure to charm you.  I feel more comfortable with women and people who are very calm and of shorter stature, so I just need a little extra adjustment time around taller people and men.  Now that I am comfortable with my foster, I have become a great home office companion and even enjoy being with my person more than the other dogs sometimes.  I thrive on structure and once I know what to expect and that I can trust you, just watch my amazing true self emerge.  Please just be patient with me as I adjust to my new surroundings and family life. / My energy level is 6 – 7 with another dog, 5 – 6 with people I am comfortable with and a 2 when I get shut down around people who make me nervous. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  While I was a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, I learned the ‘sit’, ‘down’, stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners. / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts, though I was timid and a bit hesitant of coming out of it for my walks.  I was making progress – from not coming out at all, to coming out with some patience and coaxing with Pup-Peroni.  I now go in on command in my foster home as well as sit in there nicely when the cats are out. / I was having some accidents on the shelter schedule – likely related to my not wanting to leave my crate very easily.  My potty skills were good in the prison/foster training program.  My foster mom said that I had accidents the first week as I adjusted, but now my potty manners are great.  This may happen in my new home too. Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I really love being with people, after a shy start at the shelter, and now I give the best ‘thank you’ hugs!  I love playing and napping with the dog friends I have met. I like going for walks and hikes and being outside, and I am starting to see how fun toys can be!  / I am frightened of trucks and loud vehicles, so hopefully we can find a quieter place to walk than the roads around the shelter.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.  • MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.   I am looking for a loving home, where I will be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 27, 2023, 11:11 am

Meet Betty! She lovessss playing, whether it be with you, another dog, herself.. she's absolutely DTP! Down to play. She loves digging lately and she lovessss snuggling with you as well, if you let her under the blanket she won't move the entire time. She listens when you tell her to sit or stay. She'll sit on the edge of the bed waiting for me to come in the room and she's house trained. It's an absolute understatement to say this girl is going to make a family very happy. ♥&#239&#184&#143Please email renegaderescuega@gmail.com for an application. May 24, 2023, 8:54 am

Story
Miley is a 4 year old Box mix weighing about 70-75lbs.  She is gorgeous and oh so sweet. At adoption events she will press her body against the wire crate to get pets and scratches. All most to the point of tipping the crate over. If you are paying too much attention to someone, she will paw at you to get your attention. She loves people and just can't get enough loving. Life was not always so sweet for MIley. Before coming to rescue, she was tied up in the yard, living her life outside. She had many, many litters of puppies in her life. Her boobs still sag even though She had been surreneded almost a year ago. Mily spent 6 months in the shelter before coming to rescue Feb 2023. She has spent the last few months getting her vetting completed including spayed, vaccinated and treated for heartworms. Now that vetting has been completed she is forever home ready. Miley loves ALL people, however, she can be particular about her playmates. We would want all furry family members in the home to meet Miley before making the decision to adopt. Miley would also be an amazing only dog, That would give her more couch space to hang out with the family. She is an amazing cuddle bug! Adoption fee $300 includes:spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and treated for heartworms. To fill out an application visit https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/33868/generic ##1654173##

Story
Bailey has been my best friend for four years!! I got her when she was a few weeks old as a gift. Shes been the best cuddler and the best dog I’ve ever had. Shes been my number 1 supporter. She’s a bit timid with bigger dogs due to a past trauma. She does have a bit of anxiety. Walking/ taking her to go potty is a big must. Sometimes she gets scared and will go in the house. Otherwise she lets you know by sitting at the door. I have a 1 year old that she absolutely adores! She loves kids and gets along great with them!

Story
Rusty was really anxious when he arrived to us. Given that he was discovered as a stray in a parking lot, it was totally natural why he was anxious and afraid of everything. Animal control reported that even though he was malnourished and nobody knew how long he had been wandering the streets, he was the sweetest boy when they took him in. We don’t know much about his past, but that doesn’t matter because he doesn’t let his past keep him down. When we first met him, we could see in his eyes how determined he was to get over his fears, and he did. It takes a strong individual to be able to recognize that the wheel of life keeps spinning and that we must continue to spin with it, letting go of what has ailed us in order to look forward to the coming tomorrow. And that is exactly what we see in Rusty every single day. Rusty is special. He observes everything around him calmly without feeling the urge to bark excessively. Despite his initial fear of the crate, he never once refused to enter it when told to do so. He also has the most beautiful smile. Seriously. You can literally see him smile from ear to ear when he sees you walk in the room. He knows basic commands, and walks on the leash very well. Even though he was terrified of dogs, he can walk right past them when you take the lead. He loves other people as well. He's very gentle and knows charm everybody with his puppy eyes. Rusty would thrive in a home with no other pets. He deserves someone who will cherish him for the excellent companion he is. He is happy just to be with you and expresses his appreciation with his friendly smile and wagging tail. Rusty will go to his forever home with an Impact Dog Crate and we will also proudly sponsor a session with our trusted trainer, Mirror Image K9, to assist with the transition process and help him settle in his forever home. We know a special human is out there for Rusty, and we can’t wait to see him get all the love he deserves. If you’d like to set up a meet and greet with Rusty, please complete the adoption application.

Story
Please say hello to the handsome hunk named King! King arrived at the shelter through no fault of his own on 3/3 because his former owner could no longer care for him properly. King is very sweet and cute as a button. He is slowly adjusting to his new surroundings despite being placed in a loud, overcrowded shelter. He is adorable! He is hoping to find a loving person soon that will continue to take care of him and actually take the time to TRAIN HIM properly to keep him safe in her home and be patient with him. He needs someone that will be there for him in his life EVERYDAY!! He is very active so he would make a great addition to an active/adventurous family who will take him on car rides, beaches, hikes and make wonderful memories with him. He needs someone very patient to teach the techniques of housetraining. With the right, responsible and loving person, he will have that mastered in no time! King is great with kids and other dogs. That is awesome! King love, love, love his toys! He is a very playful pup!! He is super intelligent as he knows how to sit pretty well. He is eager to please and a natural at learning new things. King is current on vaccines, neutered and micro-chipped.. King has tested negative for heart worms which is wonderful news! King is a nice size at 63 pounds and he is just a year old. He is just a baby. He is more than ready to meet his new family. You will find King patiently waiting for you in run 16. King's ID# is 642985.
