Mavis (May-May for short) is a 4 year old Calico kitty who I urgently need to rehome. We met when she was just a 4 month old stray in my partner's backyard, and she has been a beloved member of the family ever since. Due to my mother's passing, I am no longer able to house her and am looking for a wonderful new family to love her.Mavis is:4 years old, huge baby at heartExceptionally vocal and loves to talk to youGentle with clear personal boundariesSpayed, microchipped, and litter box trainedLooking for a home with no children or dogsMavis is the most vocal kitty I have ever encountered- say her name or make eye contact, and she will meow right back at you! She is very gentle and will let you know vocally if her boundaries are crossed. Because she can be scared by the size and unpredictable movements of children, she would do best in an adult-only home. While she grew up with one specific dog, she hasn't had luck with others. All I ask is that you love her the way she loves you.

Tom and Miki came to DPS after their owner had to move out of the country and was unable to take them along. They have been together since they were kittens, but they do not have to be adopted together. We are happy to place them separately in the right homes, or they can stay together if someone has room in their heart for two. Tom is a 3 year old Turkish Van mix who is basically a professional people person. He loves his humans and wants to be right where you are, preferably supervising whatever it is you’re doing. Curious, affectionate, and happiest when he’s beside his person, Tom is the kind of cat who wants to be part of the action rather than watching it from across the room. Miki is Tom’s 3-year-old calico sister, and her markings are absolutely one of a kind. The transition to a new home has been harder on her, so she’s taking her time adjusting. She’s been coming around beautifully in her foster home and has discovered that lounging in her cat tree is a pretty good way to spend the day. She is gentle and sweet with her humans and loves playing with toys. Miki also has a little hidden talent: she’s a mouser. Both cats are indoor cats, but when an unexpected mouse made its way into their former home, Miki apparently decided she had been hired for pest control. Problem solved. Tom and Miki would make wonderful companions, together or separately, for the right home. Tom is likely to be your shadow, while Miki may take a little more time to feel completely comfortable—but once she does, you’ll have a sweet, playful girl who knows how to enjoy the good life. Sometimes the hardest part of rescue is helping animals understand that a change in circumstances doesn’t mean they’ve lost their chance at a happy ending. We think Tom and Miki are both ready for theirs. All kittens have all been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, dewormed, flea treated, and microchipped. Penny’s wisdom comes from 16 years of observing and managing hoomans, knowing exactly how to make us do her bidding. When my neighbor’s cat passed away, she was hoping to adopt or rescue a senior cat from the Humane Society. She found Thelma and Louise, a pair of senior cats thought to be around 10 years old. Sadly, Louise had to be put down. Thelma is now 13 years old and a lovely old lady. She’s an indoor/outdoor cat who uses a cat door to get in and out. She loves to explore the townhouse complex and soak up the sun. I think she’s house-trained but uses the backyard as her litter box. My neighbor can no longer take care of her. She is hospitalized, waiting for surgery and then rehab. She texts me every day, asking about her fur baby. I’ve been feeding Thelma and checking on her for the last three weeks. She’s a bit shy and reserved, and I haven’t had a chance to pet her. I have two cats and a dog, so I can’t take Thelma in. I’m hoping to find someone who loves senior cats and is willing to care for Thelma in her final years. My neighbor would pay for Thelma’s food, etc.

Pickle is a little shy at first, but having her brother Cheese around makes everything a little easier. She likes to take her time, quietly check things out, and decide for herself when she is ready to join the fun.Once she feels comfortable, her playful side comes out.
