During her time at the shelter, she was understandably very timid and anxious around new people in a new environment. Since starting her journey in her foster home, she has truly blossomed into a spunky, loving, outgoing, goofy girl who is no longer terrified of the world around her. She went from only trailing behind her foster mom with her tail tucked during walks to taking the lead with her tail and head held high. She can still be timid around new people and in a new environment at first, but who can blame her? Once she opens up, she is ready to play in no time. All she wants is to be loved and she’ll join you for snuggles with zero hesitation. Scrat enjoys spending quiet time in her crate and loves having a crate cover so she can nestle into her den. When it’s time for breakfast or dinner, she goes in her crate and patiently waits for her meal. She loves squeak toys (and Nylabones) of all kinds and although she is a small dog, don’t underestimate her ability to chew right through the fabric! She will occasionally steal sneakers to chew if there are no toys around, so chew toys are a must! She is dog friendly, cat friendly, and people friendly. In fact, she LOVES other dogs and cats. Whenever she sees her foster mom’s cat, she does a full-blown helicopter tail wag and is so excited to say hi to him. Although she has not met any children yet, she would probably prefer older children or calm younger children who know how to respectfully interact with small dogs. She is housebroken and will let you know when she needs to go outside. Scrat would do best in a home with another dog sibling who doesn’t mind sharing their toys - because she will steal them! Her foster parents are never not laughing when in her presence. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care.
