Story
CUDDLES is a the sweetest tiny little chiweenie (chihuahua/dachshund) type girl looking for a home. She's cute as a button and a bit on the shy side. She's about 18 months old and fully grown at just 9 pounds. Cuddles has a long and low little body -- if you don't keep your grass cut you might lose her! True to her name, Cuddles loves to cuddle, she likes to be carried around. She seems interested in toys but hasn't started to play yet. She's okay with other small dogs and cats, but no big dogs or small kids for little Cuddles. If you'd like to meet Cuddles, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet her at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30-1:30 at PetSmart Eastgate if she's still available. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Story
FRECKLES is such a character. He has a 16 pound body and an 800 pound personality. He's silly, playful, affectionate and active and would LOVE to come to your house and chase your squirrels. Our best guess on breed is some chihuahua, beagle and Australian Cattle Dog. He's about 18 months old. Freckles is very human-oriented, he loves people of all ages. He's also a big fan of squeaky toys and belly rubs. Freckles love going for long walks, and would enjoy going on runs with his people. He's a whip smart dog and would probably thrive in agaility training. Freckles can be a little bossy with other dogs, sometimes his mouth writes checks his little body can't cover. We think he'd be happiest as an only dog, the center of your universe, soaking up all of the human attention. He is okay with dog savvy kitties. If you'd like to meet Freckles, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Freckles at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm at PetSmart Eastgate. Story
DINO is a delicious little chocolate chiweenie (chihuahua/dachshund), about 3 years old and 16 pounds. Dino is a pure delight, a good natured little dog with a friendly, outgoing personality and playful nature. He's a medium-energy guy who landed in a rural shelter with his son T-Rex. Dino is dog friendly and would be fine with another small dog and ignores kitties. Dino is also happy to entertain himself with squeaky toys and we think he'd be fine as an only dog. Dino is housebroken and crate trained. If you'd like to meet Dino, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Dino at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm at PetSmarat Eastgate. Story
Mental health advocates, hardship survivors, or those who simply love a slowwwww burn--this is a dog you can appreciate. We want to be transparent: Trinket isn't for everyone. She isn't a traditional little lap dog who wants to be carried around everywhere. In fact, she really doesn't want to be touched at all right now. But she DOES want to be loved. She shows this in her own little ways--following her foster mom around the house like a little shadow, sitting at the foot of her armchair and staring into her soul, spying around corners, taking food from her hands, and even sneakily curling up next to her on the couch when she was taking a nap one day. Trinket is also doing well with the resident dog, cats, birds, and even a fish tank in her foster home! We aren't sure what Trinket's full story is, but here's what we DO know: She was found running loose near an abandoned property, along with a pack of other small dogs. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan spotted them, picked up everyone they could, and got them to safety with SICSA. The dogs all appeared to be very well cared for, but unfortunately, we were never able to locate an owner. But don't go feeling sorry for Trinket--this tiny girl is a tiny WARRIOR. Sure, she's having a hard time with all these changes. But she's not letting a big, scary world get the best of her! Is she scared? Yes--but she's facing her fears and achieving small milestones every day! If you're a patient soul with a quiet home and a dog or cat who can help show Trinket that you're a trustworthy human, you may be the one Trinket has been waiting for. Ask how you can be a part of Trinket's journey today! Trinket is currently hanging out in a foster home and is available by appointment only. To learn more about her, please contact SICSA Pet Adoption & Wellness Center, located at 8172 Washington Church Road, Washington Township, OH 45458. We are open Monday through Saturday from 12pm-7pm. To schedule an appointment or inquire about walk-in availability, you can reach us during our open hours at 937-294-6505.
