Story
We rescued Kojo 2 years ago, he was abused and stray for years before we adopted him. He is sweet as can be, but unfortunately I’m going to college come spring and can no longer look after him. He needs a family to give him plenty of exercise and attention. He is good off leash and his listening skills are good but not great. He loves to hike and swim and play with his tennis ball’s.

Story
Athena is a 10-month-old bundle of love, energy, and personality who’s currently thriving in foster care and looking for her forever home. This sweet, silly girl will absolutely steal your heart—just like she did her foster’s 💕 Athena is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. She loves chasing a ball (and hopping like a bunny when she does it!), chewing on her favorite bones, and showing off her signature zoomies. When she’s not playing, she’s happy to relax and even watch TV with you—yes, she’s a fan! She’s incredibly smart and eager to learn, even though she’s still working on basic commands and potty training. With consistency and patience, Athena has all the potential to grow into an amazing companion. She’s already making great progress and gets braver every day! Athena absolutely adores kids and has done wonderfully with both an infant and a teenager. She would thrive in an active family home where she can get plenty of exercise, attention, and love. She can be a bit timid—especially around new people and some men—Athena will need a patient adopter who can help build her confidence at her own pace. Once she bonds with you, though, she’s deeply loyal and loving. A few of Athena’s favorite things: Playing fetch and zooming around the yard Chewing on bones (she is a puppy, after all!) Snuggling with her favorite person Watching TV Scrambled eggs (her special treat!) Athena is crate trained at night and sleeps soundly through until morning. She’s still learning daytime routines and leash skills, but she’s already shown how smart and adaptable is. Athena is truly something special. She’s a sweetheart with a big personality and an even bigger heart, just waiting for the right family to help her become the best dog she can be.

Story
Meet Stewart! 🐾🦴 Stewart is a 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This goofy, playful boy is always ready to turn an ordinary day into an adventure. Whether he’s zooming around the yard, romping with his dog friends, or soaking up attention from his favorite people, Stewart is happiest when he’s having fun and sharing the love. He’s an active guy with lots of energy, so he’d thrive in a home that’s ready for playtime, walks, and plenty of enrichment. One of his favorite pastimes? Cereal box puzzles! Give him a box filled with goodies and watch him proudly show off his problem-solving skills. Stewart does well with correction and is eager to please — especially when rewards are involved! He loves being praised for good behavior and responds wonderfully to positive reinforcement. He’s also quite the chatterbox and isn’t shy about “talking” to you when he’s excited. In fact, sometimes he gets so thrilled that he trips over his own paws — it’s all part of his silly charm. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, energetic companion who will keep you laughing and fill your home with joy, Stewart might just be your perfect match. Come meet this sweet, wiggly boy and see how quickly he steals your heart! He's available for foster or adoption at the Animal Protective League, located at 1001 Taintor Road in Springfield. We are open every day from noon to 5 p.m.
