Story
Taz is a 1-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He's a very thin 8-pounds, but he's already filling out with good food and lots of love. Taz was terrified at animal control, and with his foster for the first couple of days. He needs to figure out you're not trying to hurt him, and then he will come BEGGING for the love and belly rubs. He still gets a little overstimulated at times. So, you just have to follow his signals. He will crawl into your lap and lick your face until you're sure you have no face left. Ha! No young children in the home please. This poor guy has suffered enough in his short life. All he needs is a loving home with pawrents who can continue to help his trust of people grow every day. Taz gets along well with other small dogs, is pretty quiet so far, and rides fine in a car. He does well on a leash also. Taz has really come out of his shell. He loves playing with other small dogs, and has filled out nicely. He is now a healthy 10-pounds. This young cutie is going to make someone very happy! Apply today Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $325. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Please have your veterinarian and two non-family reference phone numbers ready. The app makes you start all over if you leave the page to look up numbers. Story
We can't have a Bonnie without a Clyde! Clyde was terrified at animal control, and he showed teeth to just about everyone. He LOVES other dogs, and quickly started to trust his foster mom. Sometimes, they just need patience and love. This is why foster families are SO important! Clyde was at risk of euthanasia due to his fear-based aggression. This poor little guy was just misunderstood. He is only a year old, and he is a little plump at 12-pounds. We think he's likely a Chihuahua/JRT mix. Clyde must have another friendly dog in his forever home. He would be best in a family without young children. Someone who can continue to help him to trust strangers would be ideal. Clyde is good on a leash, in the car, likes to cuddle, and he likes to play. He is fine in a crate, but you have to let him come out on his own time. He is terrified if you try to pull him out manually. Can you help bring joy to a little lad like Clyde? If so, he promises to return that love in spades. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $325. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. Story
Behind those sweet little eyes, miss Molly has had quite the past before being rescued. Molly is a 5-year-old, 7-pound Chihuahua. She was recovered from a hoarding home that had caught on fire. When officials pulled Molly from the home she was not breathing, and her gums were blue from lack of oxygen and smoke inhalation! She was rushed to our vet clinic where she was hospitalized to save her life. While there they discovered she was pregnant. She recovered well with vet care but unfortunately, she lost her puppies as they were born premature due to the stress of the fire and her rescue. Molly is still shy and prefers to watch the action from a safe and comfy blanket. But, she is opening up a little more each day. Molly will come snuggle next to you for some pets and attention (especially if treats are involved). She would be best in a home with another dog who is confondent and friendly. Molly does well with dogs her size but has not been around large dogs, cats, or small children due to her nervousness. She can be crated, doesn’t mind car rides, and likes time out of doors. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $325. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea and heart worm preventatives. Story
Meet Lucille, a 46 pound 2 year old Doodle who came to us with her sister, Ethel. Lucille's foster dad says she affectionate, but reserved in expressing that affection. She loves to play with toys and is especially excited when she has a sock to toss around. Lucille enjoys going for walks and just being outside. She gets along well with both small and large dogs and is playful with her sister and the foster's dogs. Lucille is crate trained, is working on her housetraining. Both girls are looking for a quiet home with a patient family that can give them time to adjust and learn to trust them. A family without small children is best, as Lucille and Ethel can be startled by noises and fearful in new situations. Ethel and Lucille are timid with new people, but they have already come to trust their foster family.  They would both benefit from having another dog in the home to give them confidence.  A fenced yard is required. Lucille's minimum adoption fee is $250 plus a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
💖 Meet Jolie — Tiny, Sweet, and Totally Irresistible! Don’t let her size fool you — this 5-pound Chihuahua has a heart big enough to fill a room! At around 8–10 years old, Jolie is the definition of sugar and sunshine. She adores cuddles, gives the sweetest little kisses, and will happily melt into your arms for attention. Jolie is fabulous in the car — she rides like a pro — and is comfortable in a crate when needed. She’s potty pad trained but really loves to spend time outside soaking up the sunshine and sniffing the breeze. She’s a social little lady who gets along beautifully with small dogs, cats, and gentle older children. Her favorite things in life? Being near her person, getting loved on, and wrapping herself up in cozy moments. Jolie does have a “bum leg” from an old injury that can’t be fixed, but don’t tell her that — she’s got places to go and hearts to win! It doesn’t slow her down one bit. Whoever adopts this tiny treasure will be incredibly lucky — Jolie is pure love in a 5-pound package. 🌸 Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $275 She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives.
