Lee enjoys a leisurely stroll through Hobby Lobby, where he loves to smell the candles He rides well in the car. Lee likes attention and is very loving. Finch

Coonhound

Male, Young
Pekin, IL
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Finch is a 5 year old 60lbs red tick coonhound with a voice like David Allen Coe. He has many typical hound tendencies like being vocal, constant curiosity and nose to the ground, but he is also very food motivated. He LOVES going on walks, treats, and is dog friendly and would like a dog brother or sister in his forever home. He is potty trained in his foster home that he has lived in for 2 years. Finch is a sensitive guy. He comes from a home where he was unsure of new people but generally tolerated them outside of the home. He is more protective of himself and his family when people enter his home if he is not comfortable with them. However, his foster mom has found that if they, along with the new person and his foster dog sister, goes for a walk outside then he's more comfortable allowing the new person inside the home when done. They have also found success if he is on leash and treated when the new person enters that also works well. We do not recommend small children as it can take him a while to feel comfortable and trust his surroundings. Finch will need a family committed to him and his future socialization if they want to have success with this gorgeous copper guy.If you would like to give Finch the chance he deserves, apply online for him today!

Photo of Sue

Sue

Shepherd (Unknown Type)

Female, Adult
Pekin, IL
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Sue has not had an easy life. She is scared and shy at first and needs a patient adopter to make her feel safe. While she does get along to some degree with other dogs, she does have some resource guarding with food so her best fit would be a home where she is an only dog. She can peacefully co-exist with other dogs in an environment where there are no toys and dogs are fed separately and the dishes are picked up after feeding. Because of her shy nature and a family's need to read her body language, Sue needs a home with children 10+. Sue appears to be potty trained. Most likely no cats unless an adopter is prepared for extremely slow intros.

Plinky

American Pit Bull Terrier

Female, Senior
Pekin, IL
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Plinky is an ultra sweet senior girl that is significantly hearing impaired, if not completely deaf. Plinky does great with humans and interacts well with dogs as long as no toys or food is around so for this reason, Plinky must be the only dog. She is reported to be potty, trained and rides well in the car. Plinky is very sweet, she loves to relax, and she walks well on a leash. She isn't super interested in play, and would be great for a family who is looking for a calm companion.

Story
His foster family says he has been a model dog in their home:"He is truly the best. He loves carpet.. likes to roll all around on it. Never begged for people food.. was amazing in the car.. we were worried because he never made a peep.. we kept checking on him.. never have we seen a dog be so good in the car. He loves playing ball with the boys. He has been on like 6 walks and is the best! We have had no issues at all. He heels and sits at the end of the streets before we cross a road he is doing great. My youngest took him on a walk and was nervous because there was a squirrel in front of us.. he told Athos to heel and they just walked right past the squirrel.. it was amazing!!! He never gets on furniture until we tell him up. We have had to take bones away from him and he is perfectly fine with it. He loves to sit at the door window and just watch the people going bye.. even when all the dogs on the street started a barking concert last night.. he still did not bark.. just sat here and watched back and forth with just one ear up ?? he is truly amazing!! And we are loving fostering him! Could not have asked for a better dog."He has undergone training and is looking for a family that will commit to not only him but to continuing the training he has been given as well.
