Story
🌸 BLOSSOM — YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND 🌸Blossom is a 8-year-old Terrier mix with the sweetest soul and the best “couch potato” skills around. She’s a pro at lounging, loves to sunbathe, and will never say no to some one-on-one toy time. She’s gentle, affectionate, and happiest when she’s close to her people. Blossom is house-trained, spayed, up to date on all her vet care, and completely ready to move in and make herself at home. Her one request? She’d love to be your one and only. Blossom doesn’t want to share her humans with other pets—she wants all the love (and snacks) for herself! If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key best friend who will fill your days with cuddles and sunshine, Blossom is your girl.📞 Call 260-868-2409 ext. 101 to schedule💻 Apply at www.dekalbhumanesociety.orgAn adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Story
Sheppe is a young German Shepherd, just under a year old, with a heart as big as her ears. This sweet girl is full of love and affection, but the world can still feel a little overwhelming for her at first. When meeting new people, she can be shy and unsure—but with a little patience, her loving personality really starts to shine.Sheppe was found as a stray in the county, and thankfully a kind finder took her in and brought her to safety. Despite her rough start, it’s clear she has so much love to give and truly wants to trust—she just needs a gentle, understanding home to help her feel secure. She is mostly housebroken and has done very well adjusting to a routine. She enjoys the company of other dogs and seems to gain confidence from having a canine friend around. On a leash, she can be a bit nervous at first, but she is learning quickly and improving every day—she’s a smart girl who wants to do well.Sheppe is the kind of dog who will form a deep, loyal bond with her person. With time, reassurance, and kindness, she’s going to blossom into an incredible companion. She may start off a little shy, but once she feels safe, her sweet and loving nature truly comes through. If you’re looking for a gentle, devoted dog to grow with, Sheppe could be the perfect fit.An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
June Bug is ready to trade kennel life for a cozy couch and a family to call her own. Estimated to be around 8 years old, this sweet senior girl still has plenty of love left to give. She absolutely adores people and happily soaks up every bit of attention she can get. June Bug doesn’t seem to mind other dogs either, but a meet and greet is still required to make sure everyone is a good fit. She’s housebroke, spayed, and up to date on her vaccines, so she’s more than ready to settle right into home life. June Bug came to us as a transfer from animal control, and now she’s hoping her next stop is her forever home. Her adoption fee is a monetary donation of your choice, because what matters most is finding her the loving home she deserves. All she’s asking for is a comfy couch, some loving humans, and of course unlimited pup cups along the way. 🐾If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who’s ready to spend her golden years by your side, June Bug is your girl. 💕An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Story
🌸 Meet Nia — the Little Heart Who Just Needs Time 🌸Nia is a petite 1-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart who came to us from an accidental litter, and because she didn’t get much early socialization, the big world is still a pretty scary place for her. Meeting new people is hard, new environments are overwhelming, and she’s looking for someone who understands that trust takes time. But here’s the beautiful part: once Nia lets you in, she loves you with her whole heart. She becomes your shadow, your cheerleader, your snuggle buddy, and your very best friend.Nia is fully vetted, young, smart, and so ready to bloom — she just needs a patient, gentle human who can help her build confidence at her own pace. A quiet home, a calm routine, and someone who celebrates small wins will help her shine. If you’re the kind of person who finds joy in helping a fearful dog feel safe, Nia will repay you with loyalty like no other. She’s not the dog who runs to new people… but she is the dog who will love you deeply once she knows she can.Give her time, give her patience — and she’ll give you her whole heart. 🖤An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt.
