Story
Max is ready for adoption!  Max is a Chihuahua mix, who is 9lbs, crate trained, mostly potty trained.   Max is a sweet but timid little boy in search of a calm house with an available lap to snuggle the days away.  He's a tender heart-ed lovey and deserves an empathetic family to best serve him.   He's been great with older children and pays no attention to cats. He has very typical chihuahua characteristics, a little drama paired with so much love. He has a good routine for pottying and done well, but does have the occasional accident. Max does ok with dogs but doesn’t play nicely always so the resident dogs have set boundaries with him and they all coexist beautifully.  He would do well as an only dog or a dog who will be able to tell Max when they have had enough. There is no agression just a little awkwardness.   Max does well on a leash and does not require a fenced yard.   Please understand that Max is super sensitive and will absolutely take several weeks to settle in and get into a routine.  He needs someone who will be patient and have zero expectations of him.  The reward of patience will be so rewarding.  His adoption fee is covered so he is free to go home with an approved application.  Www.trackingintheshadows.com  ##2607057##

Story
Meet Elliot — A Gentle Soul Looking for Peace and Belonging Elliot is a Lab mix who will be 7 years old this February. He was adopted as a puppy and spent his life with one loving owner — until recently, when she moved into assisted living and had to surrender him to us. Elliot is grieving. He’s quiet, gentle, and deeply sensitive, and he’s trying to make sense of a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar. Now in a foster home in Fort Wayne, Elliot is doing his best. He’s living with another dog, but we’ve learned that unfamiliar dogs make him nervous. He grew up with one canine companion, but new dogs overwhelm him. When he’s unsure or uncomfortable, Elliot quietly removes himself — curling up in a corner or retreating to another room. He’s not reactive. He’s just tender-hearted. Elliot would thrive in a calm, quiet home without other dogs, ideally with a retired adopter who enjoys a slow-paced lifestyle. He does like children, but he can become overwhelmed if they live with him full-time.  He loves going for walks, and he is overweight at around 70lbs, however he’s steadily losing weight on his lowcalorie diet. He’s a truly good boy — calm, wellmannered, and full of gentle affection. What Elliot needs most is stability. A soft place to land. A person who will let him grieve, adjust, and rediscover joy at his own pace. He’s not looking for excitement — he’s looking for home. If you’re someone who values peace, companionship, and the quiet loyalty of a dog who just wants to be near you, Elliot might be your heart dog. He is looking for a retired adopter who is still active and loves to take Leisurely walks around the neighborhood. There is no adoption fee; however, we are looking for experienced adopters with a solid veterinary history and references. Please put in an application on our website at www.indianasaveadog.com.  NOTES AND NEEDS: My Personality is described as : Calm, Submissive, Friendly I am housebroken: Yes Good with other dogs: Yes, submissive and friendly dogs like me; however, I need a home without another dog. Good with cats: Yes Spayed/Neutered, Vaccinated, Microchipped: Good on a Leash: Yes  NO DOG PARKS We prefer a fenced yard. However, we may consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis if you live in a condo where all dogs are walked on a leash. No immediate health issues Elliot is being fostered in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Applicants must reside within one hour's drive of Fort Wayne. ##429190##

Story
Meet Kira! A terminally ill senior searching for her hero. This is Kira, our 10.5 yr old sweetheart who has found herself back in our care after many years in a loving home. Through no fault of her own, life changed for her family, and now she is once again looking for a place to belong.   Kira has a cancerous mass on her tail and has been given an estimated 5-6 months to live (maybe more, maybe less.) She has some age-related challenges, including urinary incontinence, but she's still full of spunk. Her spirit is still so bright. She smiles. She wags. She soaks up affection. She still chooses joy every single day.   Kira does wonderfully with cats, and she gets along with calm, respectful dogs who give her space. What she needs now isn’t a long term commitment…It’s a soft landing. A warm bed.A gentle routine.A human willing to love a senior girl through her final chapter. If you have the heart to make a huge difference; to give a hospice dog comfort, love, and dignity in her last days... Kira needs you.You could be the person who makes her final months the best of her life. Her adoption fee is $0 for an approved hospice home. If you can give a senior girl a peaceful place to rest her head, Kira is waiting for you.   Spayed | Heartworm negative | Current on vaccinations & preventatives. Kira did test positive for Lyme disease and completed her antibiotic treatment prior to her diagnosis. It is recommended she stay on flea/tick prevention year round.   Interested in meeting and possibly adopting? Please start by submitting an application here: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog   Once submitted, staff will review your application. If approved, we'll reach out to schedule a meet and greet! If you have other dogs, they'll need to come as well to ensure compatability. If it’s a good fit, you may take your new best friend home that same day! We also offer a 2-week foster-to-adopt trial period to ensure it’s the right match for everyone.   Adoption Hours: Mon & Sat: 11 AM – 4 PM | Tue & Fri: 11 AM – 5 PM | Wed: 11 AM – 6 PM | Thur & Sun: CLOSED ##110630##

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter, heart worm test if applicable) microchip, worming and flea/tick/heart worm (if applicable) preventatives. Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
