Story
Meet Matty,Matty is in the Business Ambassador Foster Program with Dogtopia of Summerville. Boarding facilities take animals into their facilities and help them get adopted.Matty is the gentlest, sweetest, and secretly goofy boy just waiting for someone to let him blossom in their patient home. This boy will have your heart from the moment he dips his head and extends his outreached paw to you from his kennel. It’s like he’s humbly asking for someone to give him the time he needs to learn to trust the world around him again. Matty isn’t sure about many things but the two things he does love are safe humans and other confident dogs.Matty is undeniably a dog worth investing in as his unending sweet nature and the way he lights up with renewed confidence when he spots another dog is endearing and filled with hope for his future life. If given the chance this goofy boy would be the perfect addition as a mix of Velcro dog to his trusted human, a hound mix who doesn’t make a peep, an experience sous chef who’s very interested in supervising cooking, and an already house trained pup with unending love and affection to give. Matty may do best in a household with another confident dog companion to show him not everything is something to be scared of, but he also made leaps and bounds with a trusted human by his side. In just 24 hours he was already galloping around a yard trying to figure out what to do with a toy once he chases it. If you’re looking for the dog who will be SO worth the investment then you’ve found him! Come see him today! Interested in Matty?! Story
Meet TJ TJ is in the Adoption Ambassador foster program. Foster families take dogs into their homes and help them get adopted.Don’t let the tough-guy look fool you—TJ is a 4 year-old terrier with a serious case of resting tough face and the heart of a total softie. He might look a little intimidating at first glance, but give him five minutes and he’ll show you his true identity: big ol’ baby.TJ loves affection, leans hard into pets, and is happiest when he’s close to his people. He’s playful, curious, and still has that goofy puppy energy that makes every day more fun. Once he trusts you, he’s all about cuddles, tail wags, and being your loyal little shadow. If you’re looking for a dog who looks like he could guard the house but would rather guard your heart (and maybe your couch), TJ is your guy. He’s ready to trade shelter life for a forever home—and he promises to be the sweetest “tough” dog you’ll ever meet.Interested in TJ? Story
Meet Milkshake,Milkshake is in the Adoption Ambassador foster program. Foster families take animals into their homes and help them get adopted. This is what her foster is saying about her:Milkshake is a sweetheart with no sense of personal space. She`s a toe-stepper who loves to get up in everyone`s business. She has to greet everyone when they walk into a room and then find a comfortable spot to curl up on; anything from the couch to a sweater left on the floor. She`s a bit nervous in public, her tail staying down when she goes on walks, but she`s still curious and exploring the world bit by bit. She doesn`t quite understand how fetch is supposed to work but she`s enthusiastic all the same (see the video). She is neither food motivated nor toy motivated although she does love hoarding her toys in her kennel, especially if they squeak. She is crate trained but she does prefer sleeping in a bed with a person. She seems to be attention motivated, doing whatever gets her the most love in the moment. She is mostly housebroken and uses our doggy door like a pro.Interested in Milkshake?! Contact our foster team at BerkeleyCampus@charlestonanimalsociety.org or 843-719-5050 (leave a message if no answer).
