Story
🐾 Meet Sadie – A Sweet Girl Ready for a Fresh Start 🐾Sadie has had a tough string of luck, and it’s time her story turned around. This incredibly sweet terrier mix, just shy of 2 years old, found herself without a home when her owner left the area. She even spent time at a veterinary clinic, hoping it might lead to a soft place to land—but that didn’t happen. So now Sadie is with us, patiently waiting for the forever home she truly deserves.Sadie is all heart. She absolutely adores people, including kids, and soaks up attention like sunshine. She’s housebroken, does well with other dogs, and would love a home where she can go on adventures, play with toys, and be part of everyday life. (She’s a no-cats kind of girl, so a cat-free home is best.)Despite the changes she’s been through, Sadie’s spirit is bright and loving. She’s the kind of dog who will greet you with a wagging tail, a happy heart, and endless affection. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who’s ready to start fresh and love deeply, Sadie is your girl. 💕All cats and dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped. Dogs are tested for heartworm. A minimum adoption fee of $185 is required for adult dogs, puppy adoption fees start $300, and dogs over the age of 10 are $100. Adult cat adoption fees are $85, kittens under one year are $135, and cats over the age of 10 are $50.

Story
Meet Peach 🍑Peach is a beautiful 10-month-old shepherd mix weighing about 48 pounds, with a stunning black-and-brown coat and a heart just as sweet as her name.Peach is a gentle, friendly girl who does well with other dogs and would love a canine buddy to share life and playtime with. She’s still young, curious, and learning about the world, and she’ll thrive with a loving family who can help her continue to grow in confidence. Peach is not a match for a home with cats, as she prefers her furry friends to be of the dog variety only.If you’re looking for a smart, loyal, and sweet companion to brighten your days, Peach may be the perfect fit. She can’t wait to meet her forever family and share all her love. All cats and dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped. Story
Meet Duck — the last of his little trio still waiting for a place to call home. 💛Earlier this year, Duck and his two siblings were brought to us after being left in a truck on a warm day. His siblings have since been adopted, leaving Duck behind… and he’s been struggling ever since. Watching him sit alone where his brother and sister used to be has truly broken our hearts.Duck is a little older, a little set in his ways, and we love him for it. He’s quirky, playful, and full of personality. He loves his toys, loves to run, and once he decides you’re safe, he bonds deeply — the kind of loyalty you can feel. He just needs a moment to warm up, and then he’s your boy. He’s good with cats, and while he can be a bit picky with other dogs, slow introductions can make all the difference. Duck would also do well with kids 12 and up who understand how to give him space as he settles in.Right now, being the last one left has been hard on him. He’s lonely, confused, and waiting — hoping someone finally chooses him. We’re desperately wishing that the right person sees his story and feels that little tug in their heart. If you think you could be the one to sweep Duck off his feet and show him what it feels like to be truly loved, please reach out. This boy deserves his happy ending. 🐾💛All cats and dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped. Story
Meet Wilber 💙Wilber spent three weeks living in a foster home, where he proved to be a wonderful, well-mannered companion. He greets new people politely, truly loves everyone he meets, and gets along beautifully with every dog he’s encountered. Whether meeting strangers or hanging out at home, Wilber’s joyful demeanor consistently impresses everyone around him.In the home, Wilber settled in quickly. He enjoys car rides, has excellent leash manners, and is happy to relax quietly during the day—making him an ideal companion for someone who works from home. He’s also always up for a walk or adventure when it’s time to head out. Wilber is very food motivated and eager to learn; within just a few days he mastered cues like sit, down, come, and off. Any minor behaviors early on, such as counter surfing or marking outdoor structures, were easily redirected with gentle correction.Wilber loves toys—especially chew and lick toys like peanut-butter-filled Kongs—and does a great job knowing which items are his and which are not. He did well being left unsupervised in the home for short periods and caused no trouble. He also adjusted wonderfully to living with both a calm senior dog and a playful young dog, showing great social skills and adaptability.During his foster stay, Wilber spent time in public settings and met up to 15 new people a day. Time and again, people commented on his friendly nature and polite greetings—he truly seems to love making new friends. When Wilber first arrived, he had a mild limp that was suspected to be related to arthritis in his back legs. With daily joint supplements, the limp resolved during his stay.Important Note About Best Fit:Wilber would do best in a home without small children. While he did well in many situations, there were a few supervised interactions with a toddler that showed he is not comfortable in that environment. Because of this, an adult-only home or one with older, respectful children would be the best match for him.Wilber is a loving, smart, and affectionate dog who has so much to offer the right home. His foster family grew very attached to him and wants nothing more than to see him thrive in a home where he can feel safe, understood, and loved. All cats and dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped.
