Location: Seattle, WA (adoptable within 2-3 hours of Seattle) DOB: 5/8/2020 Meet Athena: Your 200-Pound Shadow, Snuggle Expert, and Home Security System If you’ve ever wanted a best friend who thinks personal space is a myth, gives world-class cuddles, and comes with a built-in burglar alarm, allow us to introduce Athena. Athena is a gorgeous 6-year-old spayed Great Dane with a heart every bit as big as her paws. She absolutely adores people—including children—and truly believes every human she meets is a potential best friend. While she enjoys the company of other dogs, people are her favorite, and she’s happiest when she’s right by your side. Like many Great Danes, Athena is a classic Velcro dog. If you’re in the kitchen, she’s in the kitchen. Watching TV? She’s supervising from the couch. Heading to bed? She assumes her invitation is already waiting. She’s wonderfully social with other dogs and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. In fact, Athena is so confident in herself that she simply ignores rude behavior from other dogs. Growling? Posturing? Not interested. She seems to know she’s the biggest girl in the room and would rather carry on with life than waste energy on drama. (We’re fairly certain she believes she could just sit on any trouble if it ever came to that.) Cats? Athena is absolutely fascinated by them! She loves watching them and wants to be their friend, all while remaining gentle and respectful. Athena is house-trained, has excellent manners around food with no signs of food aggression, and greets visitors with happy excitement—but no jumping. She enjoys daily walks and can comfortably stroll about a mile before she’s ready to head home for a well-earned nap. When playtime rolls around, Athena is always up for chasing a ball, enjoying a favorite chew toy, or soaking up endless belly rubs. And if you’re willing to share your couch—or your bed—you’ll quickly discover that this giant dog is convinced she’s actually lap-sized. Athena also takes her job as family guardian seriously. She has strong protective instincts and isn’t afraid to let you know if she thinks roughhousing has gotten a little too enthusiastic. And her bark? Let’s just say it’s impressively deep, wonderfully intimidating, and highly effective at convincing unexpected visitors that today might not be the day. Once you’ve welcomed someone into her home, though, Athena is happy to welcome them too. Athena is looking for a family who wants a loyal companion, an adventure buddy, a professional snuggler, and a gentle giant who will love them with her whole heart. She has plenty of adventures left to enjoy and is ready to find the person—or family—who will cherish her as much as she’ll cherish them. If you’re searching for a dog with beauty, personality, unwavering loyalty, and just the right amount of goofy charm, Athena is ready to claim her spot in your heart… and probably your favorite seat on the couch. https://forms.gle/G2dJx2NV4JXZcZ9F6

Story
Welcome Reesaw to CCPAL Rescue. She is an 18-month-old Great Dane mix dog. She weighs in at 102 pounds. She is good with other dogs and came in with an older Great Dane named Planter. Reesaw does pull on leash but we will be working with that. She is moderately active and would be fine with a moderately active family. She is a good balance between active and couch potato. She is good with people and will bond deeply with her person. Great Danes are typically a little shy and they warm up and bond deeply to their family. She does fit this characteristic. She would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. Someone who has owned an XL dog or a Great Dane would be preferable. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 400 and transport is 180. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Animal Profile: Joe is a sweet, 80-lb Dane mix who turned 7 in April. He was originally adopted in 2020, but this past fall we received a call from a local shelter after he was surrendered for euthanasia due to allergies. We immediately took him back into our rescue. After food allergy testing, a diet change, supplements, and a Cytopoint injection, Joe is doing great and his allergies are well managed. He’s feeling good and ready to find his forever home. Foster Update: Joe is the kind of dog who makes every day a little softer, a little quieter, and a whole lot sweeter. As he enjoys his golden years, what he wants most is simple: a cozy place to relax, a person to adore, and a family to call his own. This handsome gentleman is happiest when he's close to his favorite human. Whether he's stretched out beside you on the couch, snoozing nearby while you work, or curled up for movie night, Joe's greatest joy comes from sharing life's everyday moments with the people he loves. He has a calm, affectionate nature and an easygoing presence that makes him a wonderful companion in a relaxed home. Joe may initially gravitate toward women, but he warms up quickly to men and forms deep, lasting bonds once he feels comfortable. While he's friendly with everyone he meets, Joe is the type of dog who chooses his person and loves them with his whole heart. He gets along well with resident dogs and enjoys low-key play, especially a good chase around the yard. Thoughtful introductions help set him up for success with new canine friends, and once settled, Joe is happy to coexist peacefully. Joe looks forward to his daily walks and walks nicely knowing the heel command. He can feel a bit nervous when encountering unfamiliar dogs, particularly in busier environments, but with a calm handler who pays attention to his cues and redirects him appropriately, he does very well. Because of this, Joe would be happiest in a quieter neighborhood, suburban setting, or rural home where walks can be a little more relaxed and spacious. He's a smart boy who knows commands like sit and down, and his love of treats makes continued training enjoyable for both him and his people. Joe is crate trained, house trained, and has excellent manners around the home. At bedtime, Joe politely waits for an invitation onto the bed—but be warned: once granted access, he transforms into a world-class bed hog. Thankfully, his cuddling skills more than make up for the lost space. Joe does well with teens, loves affection, and has a heart as big as his love for snuggling. He's looking for someone who appreciates the special bond that comes with a senior dog—a companion who is past the puppy chaos and ready to simply enjoy life together. Joe's ideal home includes: • Calm, attentive humans • A quieter suburban or rural environment • Slow, respectful introductions to new dogs • Plenty of couch time, cuddles, and companionship If you're looking for a loyal best friend to share peaceful days, evening walks, and cozy nights on the couch, Joe is ready to spend his golden years loving you with everything he's got. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application August 6, 2026, 1:46 am

Story
Breaker is up for adoption in TX, NE and PNW (excluding MA)! Meet Breaker – Your Adventure Buddy in the Making! Breaker is a handsome Great Dane mix a little over a year old who is ready to find an active, committed family to call his own. At around 65 pounds, he’s a wonderful blend of big-dog presence and goofy puppy charm. Breaker is currently being fostered in Seguin, TX, but he can be transported to the Pacific Northwest and the Northeast United States for the right home. Breaker thrives on activity and he still has that classic puppy energy, so he’s looking for a family that understands the importance of positive correction, consistency, and continued training to help him grow into the best version of himself. With the right guidance, Breaker is eager to learn and please. One of Breaker’s favorite things in the world is going on adventures. He absolutely loves riding in the car and would be thrilled to tag along for hikes, outings, road trips, or any fun day spent exploring with his people. Water is another big favorite—splashing, wading, and cooling off are right up his alley. When playtime rolls around, Breaker is all in. He loves toys of all kinds and enjoys playing with dogs his own size. Most of all, Breaker wants to be with his people. He would happily spend the entire day with his family, whether that means being on the go or just hanging out together. If you’re an active household looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion to share life’s adventures, Breaker may be the perfect match for you. Story
LOCATION: Main Shelter KennelMeet the star of Jet City - Boeing! With ears as big as plane wings, she`s sure not to miss a single thing. She`s a cutie patootie who can be a bit shy at first but will start to warm up with her favorite treat ... cheese! Very sweet and loving, she has a huge heart with so much love to give. Her foster parent reports Boeing is super good on leash, and enjoys going on long walks, runs, and hikes, and going to the beach and laying in the sand. She loves car rides. Boeing is good at settling wherever she is. When she gets the zoomies, she gets super hoppy like a bunny and will tuck her tail under her and run back and forth - it’s SO cute.Indoors, Boeing only chews on her own toys, is house trained and able hold it for up to 8 hours if needed. The couch is her favorite spot for naps. She likes fetch, but sometimes forgets to bring the ball back! Every night when her foster parent gets into bed, she jumps up with her, lays on her, and asks for about 5 minutes of attention (pets, cuddles, ear scratches,) and then she’ll go to the end of the bed and settle down and fall right to sleep.Boeing does well with other dogs and regularly attends doggie playgroups at the shelter. The ideal home for this awesome pup would be a multi-person family where someone is home most of the time, and a yard for her to play in and run around. She’d be good in an apartment as well. Boeing really bonds hard with her person and she’d love it if that person was with her most of the time. Lovely Boeing can`t wait to meet you!The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more.Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information.** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate you`re understanding and patience. **HOW TO ADOPT: Check the animal’s location. From the Dog Kennels/Dog Isolation/Dog Quarantine (in shelter): To meet this dog, please come to Seattle Animal Shelter at 2061 15th Ave W, Seattle, WA 98119, between 1 – 5 pm on one of our open days, no appointment needed. Story
How are you all doing today, dear humans? I'm doing well. Or rather, very well.I'm Max, Máximo, Maximiliano. When I was born, my mom said: this baby looks a lot like Rick Astley: red-haired, easygoing, affectionate… the maximum best! And the name stuck. I'm more than a dog; I'm like a river, because I flow, I refresh, and I brighten your day. The other day, while I was relaxing in the sun, I overheard the human who takes care of me telling another human that I'm like a walking happiness pill. Honestly, I don't really know what that means, although it sounded nice, so I went over, gave her a kiss, and winked. Actually, everything sounds nice to me. You call me: I smile. We go for a walk: I smile. We stay home: I smile. You take me to meet other dogs, and guess what… I smile! I think it's innate, really. 🌐 If you’d like to see more of my smiles, adventures, and sunny naps, you can find more photos and videos of me here:https://hope4lapawz.org/wp1/max-2026030d/That's why, when I came into this world, my mom whispered in my ear: "My little boy... you're the maximum best!"This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. As a U.S. nonprofit, Hope 4 La Pawz, handles all logistics and provides full behavioral and medical info in advance.
