Story
Hi there, I'm Sweetpea, an 82-pound, 1-year-old black Great Dane with a name that perfectly captures my gentle nature. I might be a big girl, but deep down, I'm a shy and timid soul who just needs a little time and patience to feel safe and comfortable. I may take a bit to warm up to new people, but once I do, you'll see just how sweet and loving I can be. I thrive in a calm, quiet environment where I can slowly get to know you and build trust. I need a space where I can feel secure and not overwhelmed. I enjoy gentle petting and quiet companionship. I'm not the type to jump right into the action; I'd rather observe and take things at my own pace. With a little encouragement and a lot of love, I'll show you my affectionate side, and you'll see just how wonderful it is to have a friend like me. I'm still young and eager to learn, so with a bit of training and positive reinforcement, I'll continue to grow into a well-mannered and loyal companion. If you have a big heart and a quiet home, I'd love to be your Sweetpea. Let's take things slow and steady, and I promise to bring a lot of love and gentle companionship into your life.Sweetpea would do best in a home with:-Children 10 and older Primary Color: Black Weight: 82.4 Age: 1yrs 0mths 1wks

Story
Animal Profile: Lizzy is an estimated 5 month old 40 lb female XL mixed breed possibly Dane with bully breed. She was picked up as a stray in Texas and surrendered to our rescue partner Saving Shelter Strays. She takes direction wall, is not reactive to other dogs (enjoys their company) and is pretty calm for a giant puppy who lives in a shelter. She does best with calm children and is really smushy and sweet. More info to come as we get to know her in foster care.  Foster Update:  Meet Lizzy, a 6-month-old (approx) female Great Dane cross puppy who has the shiniest coat ever. This little lady might be a bit shy at first, but give her some time and she'll reveal her incredibly sweet and loving nature once she is comfortable. Once she settles in she absolutely adores cuddles and will happily snuggle up with you whenever she gets the chance. Lizzy is an incredibly smart dog who learns fast and is food motivated. Lizzy is house trained and is learning new commands daily. She knows sit, down, come, and stay. We are currently working on shake, high 5, boop/touch, place, turn and between. She walks well on leash.  She’s full of energy and loves to play, showing off her impressive agility with every leap and bound. She loves to play ball and run around the garden. Lizzy takes her role as a guardian very seriously, she has a big bark for a little lady and will alert you of anyone walking by or coming to your door. While she might be cautious around new people initially, her loyalty and affection shine through once she feels safe. Lizzy is looking for a forever home where she can share her cuddles, playfulness, and protective spirit.  Due her potential size and vocal tendencies we are not considering apartments at this time. If cats are present in the home, they must be dog savy as she has exhibited some prey drive instincts towards small animals outside. She will need a home with a securely fenced yard and large breed experienced family that will continue her training to help her with her confidence building. Older calm children will be considered, a resident dog that can show her the way would be a plus but not neccessary. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was picked up as a stray in Texas and rescued by our partner saving Shelter Strays. She was transferred via God's Dogs arriving to Seattle area foster care on 05/10/24. She will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.May 23, 2024, 12:01 am

Story
Meet MARK IKEGAMI Mark is a sweet guy, who loves to run and play. He's very treat and affection motivated and wants nothing more than to please his people who help make him feel secure. He can make friends quickly with people but he can be a tad timid in new situations so it's important to give him a few minutes- then he will (literally) be eating right from your hand. Mark is very dog-social and great with dogs of all ages and sizes and has lots of friends. He is equally as happy after he's done playing, to lie next to you and be the good boy that he is! Mark has mastered basic training with us and knows how to walk well on a leash, sit, down and is ready to learn more with your guidance! He enjoys walks and he is crate trained and housebroken, which would both be beneficial for him to continue in his new home, especially to help him settle in and relax. We feel his best home would be one with a person experienced with building confidence in large dogs who has a confident mentor dog for Mark to look up to and learn from. Due to Mark's shy nature, we believe he would do best in a family with older children. He does truly enjoy being with other dogs and it'd be great for him to have that going forward. NAME: Mark Ikegami LITTER: He is part of our "Real Genius" litter. AGE/GENDER: Young (born 9/9/2022), male BREED: Based on the DNA, Mark is a Great Dane, shepherd, lab, husky mix TEMPERAMENT: Playful and mischievous CATS: Good! Continued socialization will be important! CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 12 and older ADOPTION DONATION: $600.00 HEALTH: Mark is healthy! He is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Each dog also receives a "Tour Gear Bag" full of brochures, coupons, and supplies for your new pup! Please visit our website www.motleyzoorescue.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Story
Myrtle is ready to find her forever home! This sweet girl is a social butterfly who adores everyone she meets—big or small, furry or not, she welcomes them with open paws!  Myrtle is a curious explorer who enjoys shadowing her humans around the house, always eager to see what they're up to. She has a special fondness for the 9-year-old in the family, as she's known to suddenly break into a playful run, which never fails to delight Myrtle! One of Myrtle's favorite pastimes is lounging on the floor surrounded by her collection of toys so that whenever she moves her head she has a new option to play with – such a funny girl!  Myrtle gets along fabulously with her canine foster brother, enjoying playtime and taking cues from him like a champ. She would do great in a home with another dog, or would also be fine as a solo pup with regular playdates. Myrtle is making excellent progress with her training and is learning house manners, basic cues, and doing well with house and crate training. With her eager-to-please attitude and love for companionship, Myrtle is sure to be a delightful addition to a loving home! We estimate Myrtle was born around August of 2023, so she’s still a pup, and a DNA test on her brother (Cletus) showed she’s a Great Dane/Lab mix. As of March, Myrtle weighed in at 31 pounds, but she’s still catching up on growing after initially coming into rescue very underweight. She’s super tall with very long legs, so we expect her to grow up to be a good size girl! If you're looking for a sweet, social, and playful companion, Myrtle could be the one for you!  Myrtle’s adoption fee is $550 and she is spayed, up to date with vaccinations, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Myrtle, please fill out an application from our website https://www.forgottendogsrescue.com/adoption-application. Per our rescue policy, unless specifically noted in a dog's bio, we will not consider adoption applications from families with children under 5 years old. Story
Cletus is ready to find his forever home! This affectionate pup is the ultimate snuggle bug and is always first to claim his spot on the couch for cuddles. His foster mom describes him as a velcro pup because he loves being close to his people! Cletus has never met a person he doesn’t love and after a minute of getting to know you, the butt wiggles start and he soaks up all the attention! His favorite activities include running around with his canine friends, laying in the sun, naps, and, of course, snuggling.  This boy is great with other dogs and hasn’t reacted to kitties when he’s seen them. He’s very smart and learns quickly, making training a breeze! He's already mastering basic cues and house manners, and he's fully crate trained and housebroken—a true good boy!  Traveling with Cletus is a joy; he's fantastic in the car and makes an excellent companion for adventures.  We estimate Cletus was born around August of 2023, so he’s still a pup, and a DNA test revealed he’s 53% Great Dane and 45% Lab. As of March, Cletus weighed in at 32 pounds, but he’s still catching up on growing after initially coming into rescue very underweight. He’s super tall with very long legs, so we expect him to grow up to be a pretty big boy! If you're an active family seeking a loving and fun-loving canine companion, Cletus could be the perfect fit! Cletus’s adoption fee is $550 and he is neutered, up to date with vaccinations, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Cletus, please fill out an application from our website https://www.forgottendogsrescue.com/adoption-application. Per our rescue policy, unless specifically noted in a dog's bio, we will not consider adoption applications from families with children under 5 years old.
