Story
Cindy Lou will be 3 in September. She is a medium-large Great Dane mix female (mom:full Great Dane/dad: medium size mutt). Cindy’s original owner passed away from a sudden stroke and she was to go to a shelter. Unfortunately, she was with him dead for a few days before being found. Her mother, brother, and other pets went to new homes, and she was the last pet left. She was traumatized by all that took place in a short time frame. We had one of her sisters since puppyhood so we took her in to avoid the stress of a shelter on her.We have enjoyed having her with us but the sister dogs are competitive and DO NOT GET ALONG. Cindy is very loving and eager for affection once she gets to know you. She is skeptical at first and keeps her distance from the unknown but is not aggressive. She is a couch potato but enjoys walks and knows how to play with a ball. She listens fairly well to commands. We’re disabled and can’t afford to keep her now esp. with the tension and risk to both dogs.

Story
Location: Seattle, WA (adoptable within 2-3 hours of Seattle) DOB: 5/8/2020 Meet Athena: Your 200-Pound Shadow, Snuggle Expert, and Home Security System If you’ve ever wanted a best friend who thinks personal space is a myth, gives world-class cuddles, and comes with a built-in burglar alarm, allow us to introduce Athena. Athena is a gorgeous 6-year-old spayed Great Dane with a heart every bit as big as her paws. She absolutely adores people—including children—and truly believes every human she meets is a potential best friend. While she enjoys the company of other dogs, people are her favorite, and she’s happiest when she’s right by your side. Like many Great Danes, Athena is a classic Velcro dog. If you’re in the kitchen, she’s in the kitchen. Watching TV? She’s supervising from the couch. Heading to bed? She assumes her invitation is already waiting. She’s wonderfully social with other dogs and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. In fact, Athena is so confident in herself that she simply ignores rude behavior from other dogs. Growling? Posturing? Not interested. She seems to know she’s the biggest girl in the room and would rather carry on with life than waste energy on drama. (We’re fairly certain she believes she could just sit on any trouble if it ever came to that.) Cats? Athena is absolutely fascinated by them! She loves watching them and wants to be their friend, all while remaining gentle and respectful. Athena is house-trained, has excellent manners around food with no signs of food aggression, and greets visitors with happy excitement—but no jumping. She enjoys daily walks and can comfortably stroll about a mile before she’s ready to head home for a well-earned nap. When playtime rolls around, Athena is always up for chasing a ball, enjoying a favorite chew toy, or soaking up endless belly rubs. And if you’re willing to share your couch—or your bed—you’ll quickly discover that this giant dog is convinced she’s actually lap-sized. Athena also takes her job as family guardian seriously. She has strong protective instincts and isn’t afraid to let you know if she thinks roughhousing has gotten a little too enthusiastic. And her bark? Let’s just say it’s impressively deep, wonderfully intimidating, and highly effective at convincing unexpected visitors that today might not be the day. Once you’ve welcomed someone into her home, though, Athena is happy to welcome them too. Athena is looking for a family who wants a loyal companion, an adventure buddy, a professional snuggler, and a gentle giant who will love them with her whole heart. She has plenty of adventures left to enjoy and is ready to find the person—or family—who will cherish her as much as she’ll cherish them. If you’re searching for a dog with beauty, personality, unwavering loyalty, and just the right amount of goofy charm, Athena is ready to claim her spot in your heart… and probably your favorite seat on the couch. https://forms.gle/G2dJx2NV4JXZcZ9F6

Story
Whittier was found as a stray by a member of the community at Highland Park in Pasco. He is now neutered and ready to go home today!Whittier currently weighs about 75 pounds, but don`t let his size fool you—this gentle giant is one of the sweetest dogs you`ll ever meet. He has a calm, affectionate personality and loves being close to his people. In fact, one of his favorite things to do is lean right into you for a little extra reassurance and affection. One of the first things you`ll notice about Whittier is his striking eyes. He has heterochromia, a condition where the irises are different colors. One eye is primarily brown, while the other is a beautiful mix of blue and brown, giving him a truly one-of-a-kind look that`s just as unforgettable as his goofy grin. Whittier is incredibly food and toy motivated and absolutely loves showing off what he knows. He happily sits on cue and seems to know several other commands as well, although he occasionally decides to show them off on his own schedule! We`ve caught him offering behaviors like lying down and even rolling over without being asked, just hoping it might earn him a treat or some praise.Despite his giant size, Whittier walks beautifully on a leash and appears to have had previous leash experience. He`s the definition of a gentle giant...until he gets the zoomies! Every now and then this big guy has a burst of excitement that will have you laughing as he bounds around with pure joy before settling right back into his sweet, affectionate self.Whether he`s rolling around in the grass, gazing up at you with those incredible eyes, leaning in for affection, or proudly showing off his tricks, Whittier is simply a joy to spend time with. While we can`t know his breed mix for certain, his towering size, gentle demeanor, and affectionate nature certainly make us wonder if there could be a little Great Dane somewhere in his family tree.Since Whittier was found as a stray, his history with other dogs or cats is unknown. Meet and greets are required with any dogs currently living in the home prior to adoption.Whittier`s adoption fee is $50. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. Our shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Holds, deposits, and pre-adoptions are not allowed. Animals may transfer to other shelters or rescues at any time.If you`ve been looking for a big d

Story
4-Year-Old Neutered Male Great Dane | Gentle Soul | Looking for His Safe Place When Othello first arrived, he was completely shut down—frozen in fear and unsure how to exist in a world that had never been kind to him. But little by little, he’s been learning that life can be good… that people can be gentle… and that love doesn’t have to hurt. Today, Othello is blossoming into the dog he was always meant to be. These days, he loves playing with his dog friends—something we aren’t sure he ever had the chance to do before. Watching him discover joy, play, and connection has been nothing short of incredible. He’s wonderful with other dogs and truly needs one in his new home—a calm, social, and ideally female companion who can show him the ropes and help him continue to grow in confidence. He finds comfort and courage in canine companionship. Othello also loves pets from the people he trusts and is very affectionate. He’s learning that hands can be kind, and that humans can bring warmth and safety instead of fear. And yes—treats are absolutely the way to his heart. With patience, kindness, and delicious snacks, Othello will happily let you in. His new family will need to move at his pace. He’ll require a minimum of three pre-adoption training sessions (possibly more—Othello will decide when he’s ready) so his new people can learn how to support him through the transition to a new environment. He’s come too far to be rushed, and we’re committed to setting him up for success. Othello is a big, beautiful reminder that resilience takes time… and that some of the most incredible dogs are the ones who had to fight hardest to trust again. If you’re patient, compassionate, and ready to help a once-broken dog continue his journey toward joy—Othello just might be your heart dog. Othello has been extensively vetted and is in great health.
