Story
Meet Whitney. She is a beautiful one year old, 45 pound, blue eyed girl. The perfect size to go anywhere and do anything. She is great riding in the car and hanging out if you half to go shopping. She is good on a leash and has good recall. Around the farm she is basically where I am. She gets along with all of the other dogs big and small and plays well with all. I introduced her to my cat, who is old and stationary, and she didn't seem that interested. She is good around the horses and doesn't bother them. As I'm writing this she is laying on the floor beside my chair. When she wants attention she will sit and lean against your leg. She loves a good chest rub. At night she is content to lay on the floor next to my bed. She is playful and smart but doesn't have as much of an independent drive and isn't as mischievous as other huskies I've fostered. Story
Peaches is a young, spirited girl looking for a dog-experienced home that understands shy and sensitive dogs. She can be reserved at first, but once she feels safe, she warms up quickly and shows her sweet, playful personality. At the shelter, we’ve noticed that Peaches can become overwhelmed by quick movements or physical restraint. She’s searching for a family that can read canine body language, move at her pace, and help make new experiences positive and confidence-building. With patience and consistency, she truly blossoms.Peaches is an active girl with a fun, “on-the-go” attitude and would love a family that can match her energy level through regular exercise and enrichment. She has participated in playgroup and has done well with both male and female dogs her size or slightly larger, with male dogs being her best match. She enjoys games of chase but can feel overwhelmed by overly physical play styles. Her history with cats is unknown. Given her breed traits, a home without cats may be the best fit, or adopters must be committed to very slow, careful introductions with any resident pets.Because she can be sensitive to fast movements and handling, Peaches is looking for a home with teens and adults only.If you’re experienced, patient, and ready to help a sensitive young dog build confidence and thrive, Peaches could be a wonderful addition to your home. Come meet this lovely lady and see if she’s the one for you! Stop by the shelter during regular business hours to visit available pets. AVHS is open 6 days a week 11am-6pm, closed Sundays, adoptions wrap up at 5:30pm each day.

Story
Meet Maxwell. He is full of energy and has a wonderful personality. He is still a puppy and great with leash and basic commands. House trained with rare accidents when excited. He’s a cuddle bug. He tends to forget the difference between rough play and soft play, and he can be a tad bit vocal when he isn’t getting his way. He does nip from time to time, but only when playing and is easily redirected. Crate trained and rarely barks when left alone. He’s is not good with small animals and cats, but great with other dogs. No experience with children, however, he does play rough so not recommended. No health issues, shot up to date, no aggression. Received training at a 4 week board and train program. Includes several leashes, vest, collars, bark collar, crate, food, and toys. If you really want him to be extra in love with you, he loves playing with towels and chewing his antler. This dog is wonderful, but unfortunately, the nature of my work keeps me away and he needs space and time.

Story
This is Shaka. We picked up Shaka from a Facebook group that is dedicated for Finding puppies. He is currently 4 his birthday is nov 9th. He needs a home with a backyard and space. We use to have the proper space but a recent move and a significant reduction to his space. He is a good dog but with work and everything I just don’t have the time he deserves. He’s always been a outside dog. He playful and when given the proper attention he is chill. He not leash trained but after just a few days he gets the hang of it. Because at one point he was.
