Story
Hello, my name is Sanford and I'm an 11 month old, neutered, lab mix who tips the scales at a whopping 82lbs! I'm still a puppy at heart and I'm trying to figure out this crazy world. I'm on the hunt for a loving and patient family to show me the ropes of being a well-adjusted canine. Obedience class is definitely in my future, but don't hold that against me. I'm a total sweetheart once you're in my inner circle. I'm a curious pup that that lives for adventure, especially if it involves sniffing every leaf and watching every passerby within a 2-mile radius on my walks. If your home could use a rambunctious, lovable, bundle of fur and enthusiasm, just ask Customer Service about Sanford!  ID# A943925Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. Story
Hi there, I'm Bella Mae! I'm a 1 an a half year old, 56 lbs., spayed female Lab mix. I'm the sweetest girl in the world; I love to say hi to the nice humans I meet and am a great player of the game of fetch (when I remember to bring the ball back). I'm still pretty unsure about meeting other dogs and will need the help of my new family with practicing that. I'm working on my overall manners and making great progress! The volunteers here say I have a polite 'sit' and a very nice 'watch me'. While I continue working on my manners it would be best if I went home with a family with kids that are 10 years or older. I would love to meet the whole household before going home including any resident dogs. I recently went on a field trip with one of my favorite volunteers! Here's what they had to say: 'I took Bella Mae on the hike today! She was easy to gear this morning and did very well in the car. She had a great time and did very well on the walk. We passed walkers, bicyclists, runners and a dog with no problems at all. She was a bundle of joy and wanted her belly rubbed during our water break. She also loved beach time! She rewarded me with tons of kisses in the car on our way back to Lantos. Sweet and loveable girl.' Story
Dolly, spayed female, 3y-5-m-old, 44-lbs If you would like to give DOLLY a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Dolly has an easy-going temperament, very playful and lively. She loves people and is sociable around other dogs and stays calm when meeting cats. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight; not a chewer or barker. Dolly is most suitable for an outdoor loving family, and/or as an addition to family with dog. Dolly’s rescue story: Driving home during a stormy night, the rescuer spotted a dark moving object in-between the traffic lanes. When she stopped her car to check it out, she found Dolly moving toward her slowly, wagging her tail. She didn’t seem injured but apparently had difficulty moving. Dolly followed the rescuer to her car and off to the hospital they went. The doctor’s diagnostic was that Dolly simply suffered from starvation. Under the care of her foster family, Dolly regained her hearth and received proper training. But being a dog with black color coat has hardly any chance to be adopted by local people. Hopefully Dolly can start her new life aboard. Millie, spayed female, 9-months-old, 31-lbs If you would like to give MILLIE a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Millie is smart and lively, enjoys outdoor activities; full of puppy energy, like the average young pups. She is loving by nature and aimed to please, can easily adapt to new environment. She is well behaved around adults and kids, also good with other dogs and cats. She follows direction well, and never got into fight for food or toy. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight. With some basic training, she will become a great family pet and the best walking companion. About Millie’s rescue: Millie was spotted wandering on the streets. A good looking, clean and young one, she was probably deserted by her owner not too long ago. She was at the onset of puberty, it is urgent to have this young girl neutered. When the rescuer was notified, she acted right away, lest she drifted away. Millie was taken to the vet first; no chip was found on her. She was examined by the vet, and got neutered. Millie is a beautiful and healthy young pup. She was placed with a loving foster home while waiting for her forever home! Scarlett, spayed female, 10-months-old, 30-lbs If you would like to give Scarlett a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Scarlett is smart, lively, and close to people; full of puppy energy, but calm and obedient if compared to other young pups her age. She always greets everyone with a sweet smile and non-stop wagging tail. She is good with dogs and behaves very well when meeting other dogs outdoors; she is also calm and friendly with cats. Her favorite pastime is taking daily walks and romping around with doggie friends in the park. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight, with no barking nor chewing issues. Scarlett can fit into any type of family quickly, also can be a great candidate for family looking for sibling to the existing dog. She would make a wonderful companion, and she certainly deserves a loving family! About Scarlett’s rescue: Traveling on a country road the volunteer picked up a stray dog, skinny but heavy into pregnancy. She soon gave birth to five puppies, Scarlett was one of them. Being cute and good looking, Scarlett was soon adopted by a young couple. Even with all their good intention and love, the young couple realized not long afterwards that they did not have enough time to take good care of her; she was only taken for walk once every week on weekends, and when her masters are away on business trips, Scarlett had to stay at the boarding place. So, when the rescuer learned about this situation, she decided to look for better opportunities for Scarlett. If you would like to give BART a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Bart is one of the best dogs we have fostered. He is super mellow and well behaved by nature. He likes food and toys, and is willing to share with others. Bart rides well in the car and enjoys resting near his humans quietly. His favorite pastime is the daily walks and hanging out with play pals in the park. He would be a great candidate for family looking for a loyal companion pet as well as a superb hiking partner. Bart’s rescue story: In central western Taiwan, near an industrial park, Bart and his seven other siblings were wandering about. There were no food and water in sight, except the occasional feeding by volunteers. With highway and storm drainage ditch nearby, it was a precarious environment for these young pups. When the rescuer saw the posting for help by volunteer, she responded immediately.
