Story
Coco is a sweet, gentle girl. She settled in beautifully to her foster home and is being such a wonderful house guest. She walks well on a leash and surprisingly has a lot of energy walking for a 13 year old girl. While she can go up the one step into the house and doggie stairs for the couch, she will do best in a home without a flight of stairs. Coco can be reactive in settings that are fearful for her (for example, the vet), so she should in an adult home where her family has experience with this behavior. She is 15 lbs, house trained and knows how to use a doggie door. She sleeps through the night and in her bed by herself. She likes to have a big blanket to sleep with. Coco enjoys toys and likes to play rope. She is good with other dogs, though needs her own space for mealtime as she doesn't like to share her food.

Story
Cody and Molly are a sweet bonded pair who came to us after their mom passed away. They are kind, considerate and gentle little lambs. Cody is 28 lbs (needs to lose some weight!) and Molly is 13 lbs. Cody is 17 years young and Molly is 18 years young. They've been indoor dogs for a long time with little to no outdoor time and they're happy to enjoy the great outdoors, especially when it's sunny! These two really are the sweetest pair of buddies they look forward to spending forever and ever together. Cody came to us with bladder stones, had surgery and is now on a special diet to help prevent this from occurring again. Molly and Cody are a very sweet pair who don't ask for much, just a loving, warm and cozy home where they get to enjoy indoor and outdoor sunshine time together.

Story
Hi, I'm Checkers! I'm a one year old, 9lbs., neutered male Maltese mix. I'm an energetic happy little man that love to play fetch. I'm playful and do well with other dogs my size, but I need to work on my sharing. So, for now I would do best in home with older teens and a family who has had a dog like me before and is ready to help learn to share with people. My favorite game to play is fetch and I'm fantastic at it! Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Louie is an 8 month old Maltese mix who is looking for his Musketeers! Louie came from the shelter with his two companions and was extremely ready to escape the confines of the kennel. After a good groom, Louie emerged from his matted coat. Louie has a non-shedding coat which will make him an option for those with allergies, or who want less hair around the house. Louie will require regular grooming.    Below is a note from Louie’s foster.  “Louie is a sweet, sensitive boy who is blossoming as he discovers the world around him. On his first days in his foster home, he was so terrified that we could barely touch him without him running to hide. In the days following, we started seeing his silly and curious side as he took his cues from our resident dogs. Now, he loves to follow us around and ask for pets. It has been so lovely to watch him bloom in our home as he has gained his confidence and we know his lucky forever home will have a blast with him.  Louie wakes up and goes outside for a potty around 7 AM. He comes inside for breakfast and then settles down for a luxurious morning nap next to his foster siblings. He goes out a few times throughout the day to get his zoomies out, but mostly sits quietly with his toys or naps next to us as we work. Louie has dinner at 6 PM and then enjoys some couch snuggles in the evening as we unwind from the day. He goes outside for one last potty at 10 PM and then curls up in his dog bed for the night.  Louie lives with multiple dogs and cats in his forever home and gets along with them all! He needs a slow introduction to people as he is quite fearful of new people, but if you are willing to put in the work, the effort is worth it! Louie is still working on leash introductions and will need a patient home ready to show him the ropes.  Louie is the kind of dog that will be so worth the effort and time he needs to settle in. When he is set up for success, he will adapt and integrate into his environment. Louie takes his cues from his foster siblings, so he will need a confident dog in his new home.”    Louie is only an option for homes who have prior dog experience, with shy dog experience prioritized. Louie would prefer a calmer environment, so no kids under the age of 15.February 25, 2024, 11:29 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, February 24th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $700   Huey is an 8 month old Maltese x Poodle (Maltipoo) who can’t wait to find his new band of Musketeers! Huey was surrendered to the shelter with his pals after his former home was no longer able to care for them. Huey was very shy and matted when we took him into our rescue, and we knew he just needed some TLC to show us his awesome self. Huey has been building his confidence and is now ready for his next chapter. Huey has a non-shedding coat which makes him an option for those with allergies. He will require regular grooming.    Below is a note from Huey’s foster.  “Huey is a sweet and loving boy who is just an amazing and wonderful buddy! Huey arrived very scared from the shelter and spent a week or so getting acclimated to our house. Now, he loves to quietly cuddle with me, laying with his head in my lap. He loves to be near me and our resident dogs, following me around the house as I go about my day. Huey is a true couch potato type of dog, happy to spend his day lounging on the couch and rolling over when he thinks he can get some pets. Huey has a hilarious hobby where he takes toys and socks and makes a little pile to cuddle on with his prizes. Huey is such a love and has been a fabulous temporary addition to our home.  Huey starts his day with breakfast at 7 AM before going outside for a potty break. During the day, he hangs out on the couch with my resident dogs, laying on a soft blanket and snoozing the day away. He spends some of his day outside, soaking up the sunshine and exploring his surroundings. He gets a walk in the afternoon when the weather allows, and is curiously learning from our dogs. He gets dinner at 6 PM and then cuddles up on the couch for the rest of the night.  Huey gets along very well with our dogs and would do well with a canine companion in his new home. He is mostly house trained and crate trained. Huey had never experienced a leash before he came to us, so we have been working on his leash walking skills as he gains his confidence. Huey is such a mellow guy, he will make your life complete!”   Huey is an option for a variety of homes, regardless of prior experience. While he would enjoy a canine companion in his new home, he could also be a solo pup. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.February 25, 2024, 11:29 pm

He will require regular grooming.    Below is a note from Dewey’s foster.  “Dewey is a fabulously loving and snuggly dog who adores his people above all else! The first week we had him (straight from the shelter) he hid in his crate as he figured things out. Now? He runs to us when we enter the room, wagging his tail and giving us tons of kisses. He loves walks, loves cuddles, and since discovering toys is so goofy! Dewey is the perfect blend of active and loungey. He is happy to run around outside, hopping around when he needs to get his zoomies out. When he is ready for a nap though, he can curl up and dream for hours! He has discovered a love for toys and can keep himself entertained for hours at a time. Dewey has been making fabulous strides in his socialization and is now even opening up to groups of people by hopping into their laps!  Dewey wakes up at 7 AM and goes outside to potty. He sleeps in his crate overnight and politely waits for us to start our days when he wakes up. He spends his days hanging out with me as I work from home, with frequent breaks to play and romp outside. He gets a walk in the afternoon where we work on his leash training. In the evening, he watches some TV with us as we unwind from the day before he goes outside for one last potty session. He sleeps in his crate.  Dewey adores other dogs and would do well with another dog in the home as he continues building his confidence. He has a puppy friend who he can play with for hours at a time. Dewey was introduced to a leash for the first time with us and is still learning how to walk in a straight line. This happy, friendly boy can’t wait to hop and skip his way into your heart!”   Dewey is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Ideally his new home will currently have a dog. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.February 25, 2024, 11:29 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $600   Maisie is a 4 year old Maltese mix who was rescued from the shelter after being surrendered due to “no longer suiting her family”. We couldn’t let such a sweet gal spend her days in a crowded pen, so we rescued her and promised her the best second chance ever. Maisie has a non-shedding coat which will require regular grooming. She is an option for those with allergies, or who want less hair around the house    Below is a note from Maisie’s foster! “Maisie is a very sweet, loving, and excitable dog who is looking for her forever person. Are you looking for a personal cuddle companion who showers you in endless love? Maisie is the gal for you! Maisie also adores toys and is often found with a tiny lamb chop toy cuddled up next to her as she snoozes. Maisie also loves a warm blanket and happily sits near us for movie marathons, bundled up with just her nose peeking out. At only ten pounds, Maisie is the perfect miniature size for both playtime and cuddles.  Maisie starts her day at 7 AM with breakfast before she goes outside to potty. She comes inside and curls up for a nap until around 9 AM. After this, she spends her day snuggled next to her person, playing with her lamb chop, or exploring the yard. She adores her daily walks which she takes with our resident dogs. Maisie is fully potty trained and crate trained. She has dinner at 7 PM and then cuddles until it is time for bed.  Maisie gets along well with other dogs. She does well with cats, as most of them are larger than her. Maisie would do best in a home without children, as she prefers a quieter and calmer environment.”   Maisie is only an option for those who have owned a dog previously. Interested homes should have experience with shy and undersocialized dogs who need continued support in confidence building. Teenagers would be the youngest age for Maisie, but an adult only home would be best suited to her lifestyle.February 25, 2024, 11:29 pm
