Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $550 **Kitten is available for Foster-to-Adopt!**     Weight: 11.6 lbs Coat: Non-shedding KITTEN - Small Dog, Big Opinions   Let's be real: Kitten isn't for everyone, and she wouldn't have it any other way.  This 5 year old Maltese mix knows what she likes (morning fetch, her cozy crate, predictable routines) and what she doesn't (surprise guests, loud neighborhood noise, anyone touching her food bowl). She's making excellent progress in foster care, but she's going to need someone who gets that progress isn't perfection. Kitten's Non-Negotiables:  A quiet house with a yard - apartments and city life? Hard pass. Space during meals - she's protective of her bowl and needs you to respect that boundary Time to warm up - she'll bark when you arrive, then decide if you're cool. Don't rush her. A peaceful neighborhood - she's got opinions about squirrels, birds, and pretty much everything else, and she's LOUD about it (but less so when her leash is on, interestingly) Where Kitten Shines: When her world is calm and predictable, this girl is a gem. She's fantastic on leash walks (no lunging, no drama with other dogs). She loves fetch in the morning. She's totally fine being left alone - no separation anxiety, no destruction. She adores her crate and uses it as her safe space. And with a little CBD to take the edge off her anxiety, she's shown she can really settle in. The Right Human for Kitten:  Experienced with small dogs who come with attitude and anxiety Patient and consistent - she's improved SO much in 10 weeks, but she needs someone who won't give up when she has a bad day Home most of the time to keep her routine solid No young kids - adults or older teens who won't overwhelm her Committed to management - feeding protocols, CBD routine, ongoing structure Willing to work with a dog behaviorist - continued professional support for resource guarding and barking will help her keep progressing Why She's Available: Kitten was adopted to a home in San Francisco and returned after 2 months. City living was all wrong for her - too loud, too chaotic, too much. She needs space, quiet, and someone who understands that challenging dogs aren't broken dogs.  The Bottom Line: If you're looking for an easy dog who's instantly social and goes-with-the-flow, keep scrolling. But if you want a loyal, quirky companion who will reward your patience with fetch sessions and couch snuggles (on her terms), Kitten might just be your perfect match.   She's a work in progress. Are you up for it? February 26, 2026, 9:15 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet Silver: The Non-Shedding Love Story You've been searching for Silver is a 3 year old, 17-pound Maltipoo with a soft, non-shedding coat, a sweet little face, and the kind of personality that makes people say, “Wait… how is this dog still available?” Because honestly… he should’ve been adopted already. Silver is an easy, affectionate, low-maintenance companion who is happiest being near his person—whether that means lounging on the couch, supervising your every move, or quietly judging your snack choices. If you’re looking for a calm little best friend who will follow you around like you’re the main character… congratulations. Silver has applied for the position. Work-From-Home Approved (He Takes His Job Seriously) Silver is fantastic at settling into his doggy bed while you work during the day. He’s basically a tiny coworker—quiet, polite, and emotionally supportive. One small note: if the door is open, Silver’s inner treasure hunter comes out and his snack-seeking foraging instincts may activate. He may explore the area like a fuzzy little food detective looking for contraband crumbs. So yes… he’s an angel. But he’s also a smart angel with a search-and-rescue background in locating snacks. Smart Boy Energy Silver is super intelligent and has been eating meals through enrichment puzzles… which he completes so fast it’s honestly rude. Like, you’ll be proud for two seconds and then realize: you are living with a tiny genius who could probably hack your Wi-Fi. A Leash-Walking Dreamboat Silver enjoys a 20–30 minute walk and is an absolute gentleman on leash. He stays close, doesn’t pull, and walks like he’s out for a casual little stroll to clear his thoughts. Basically: he walks better than most humans. Manners Included (Some Assembly Still Required) Silver is working on sit and wait, and he’s already catching on quickly. He knows to sit when he’s about to go outside while you get his leash on, and when you return inside, he’ll sit patiently to have his paws wiped like a tiny, well-trained prince. He’s not out here causing chaos—he’s out here trying to be promoted. Bedtime Routine: Progressing Like a Champ Silver has been sleeping in a crate in the bedroom. He’s not thrilled about it yet and may whine a little (he has opinions), but he’s improving every night. Calming music + a bedtime biscuit helps, and he’s clearly trying his best. His foster will continue working on daytime crate comfort too, but overall he’s making great progress and settling in more each day. Dog-Friendly… But People Are His Favorite Breed Silver is friendly with other dogs and coexists peacefully, but he’s not the “party dog” type. He’s more like: “Hi, dog. Nice to meet you. Anyway, where are the humans?” He’s truly a Velcro dog—his favorite place is wherever you are. The Perfect Home for Silver Silver would thrive in a home that wants an affectionate, mellow companion who enjoys routine, closeness, and cozy couch time. He doesn’t need a ton of exercise—he just wants to be loved and included. He’s still working on housetraining, so his new family should continue consistent potty breaks and positive reinforcement. He’s generally quiet and not a big barker, but if he’s feeling anxious or separated, he may whine or bark a bit. When nervous, he sometimes grabs harmless things like paper napkins or dish towels to carry around (emotional support laundry is a thing). Why Silver? Because he’s: Non-shedding Affectionate and loyal Easy to live with Great for calmer homes A couch champion A smart little lovebug The kind of dog that makes you wonder why you ever lived without him Silver is truly one of those rare dogs who just fits into your life like he was always meant to be there. If you’re ready for a sweet, snuggly, low-key best friend who will love you with his whole tiny heart (and possibly investigate your kitchen for snacks)… Silver is ready to meet you.February 26, 2026, 9:37 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $500 Meet Gogurt, the Professional Cuddle Bug!   If ever a pup deserved a spoonful of sweetness in his name, it’s Gogurt. This 7 month old Bichon-poo— affectionately known as Gogi— is equal parts playful fluff and devoted cuddle companion, with a temperament that truly sets him apart.   Gogi starts his mornings between 6:00 and 7:30 with what he considers the most important meal of the day: cuddles. Before his paws even hit the floor, he’s ready to soak up affection. Once he’s out of bed, he heads straight outside for his first potty break, then hustles back in for breakfast— 1/3 cup of Zignature whitefish kibble topped with fish oil. He takes his cuisine seriously. Immediately after breakfast, he’ll let you know it’s time for potty round two. Morning is also prime time for wandering the yard, sniffing bushes like a tiny explorer, and heading out for a walk.   On leash, Gogi is a gentleman in training. He doesn’t pull, doesn’t bark at other dogs, and is genuinely happy to meet new friends. He doesn’t chase squirrels— he prefers to pause and observe. When cars pass by, he thoughtfully stops and sits until they’re gone, as if practicing his road safety PSA.   Back home, he’s all about play. Tug toys? Yes. Fetch? Absolutely. A little zoom around the yard? Sign him up. His energy level is beautifully balanced— ready to play when you are, perfectly content to nap or entertain himself with toys when you’re working. He’s not destructive and won’t chew shoes or furniture, but do keep an eye on stray paper or small cardboard treasures - those are his version of fine dining ;). He may still nibble gently on fingers, but it’s soft, puppy-ish affection, never rough.   Gogi is a confident, affectionate, deeply bonded little companion. He adores his people and greets family members with pure joy when they come out of their rooms or return home. He especially keeps close tabs on foster mom, happily following along to make sure he doesn’t miss out on anything important— like more cuddles.   And cuddles are truly his specialty. Gogi could cuddle all day if you let him. He loves being close, melting into laps, and snuggling into arms. He may bark when new people first arrive, but it’s simply his way of announcing a guest. Once they sit down and let him approach, he transforms into a snuggle ambassador. He’s sensitive to new sounds and unfamiliar things and can be a bit of a “scaredy-cat,” but that sensitivity comes with a gentle, thoughtful nature. He’s still not comfortable jumping up or down from furniture and prefers to wait for a lift, which only adds to his baby-bear charm.   Though he loves being near his people, he’s not demanding. If there are maintenance workers in the house or activity that requires him to take a break, he is perfectly content relaxing quietly in his crate or pen with his toys. He sleeps soundly through the night and is mostly housetrained, going to the door when he needs to go out. After baths and before bedtime, he needs a few extra trips outside to fully empty his tank, but he settles in and sleeps through the night without issue.   Gogi has spent time at a friend's home with other dogs and has done beautifully— even with larger dogs. He has happily slept alongside them and enjoys canine companionship. He has also been wonderful with children as young as six, greeting them with friendliness and warmth. An ideal home for Gogi would be one filled with love and activity— people coming and going, children laughing, life happening around him. He thrives on connection but is also capable of entertaining himself when needed. His temperament is truly something special: affectionate, gentle, adaptable, and full of heart.   Now, for the part that makes Gogi a little extra special. He has a genetic skin condition called ichthyosis that requires consistent maintenance. His coat is gorgeous, but it needs to be kept short so that his medications can properly reach his skin. He requires frequent bathing (2–4 times per week), daily brushing, medicated mousse applications several times a week, weekly topical medication, and ear cleanings every 1–2 months. His paws and ears can collect buildup that needs grooming attention, and regular haircuts every 8–9 weeks help keep him comfortable and healthy. With proper care, he does beautifully— but he will need a family committed to maintaining his skincare routine.   And here’s the truth: once you meet him, you’ll understand. Gogi’s temperament is so exceptionally loving and sweet that caring for his skin feels like a small trade for the joy he brings. He doesn’t beg at the dinner table, he greets you like you’re the best part of his day, and he offers endless cuddles without ever asking for much in return.   Of all the fosters his family has welcomed, they say he has the very best personality. Gogurt may require a little extra upkeep— but in return, you get a heart-melting, perfectly balanced, deeply devoted little companion who will stick to you sweeter than his name suggests.February 26, 2026, 9:15 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Bob's adopter will receive 6 months of Bob's medications and food free of cost, thanks to a generous donor! Meet Bob Marley! Don't Worry, Be Fluffy Bob Marley is a 5 year old, 11 lb Maltipoo with a non shedding coat that is great for allergy sensitive homes and for anyone who prefers a dog that will not leave fur behind. True to his legendary name, Bob lives by one simple rule: every little thing is gonna be alright. He moves through life on island time, bringing irie energy wherever he goes. Bob is affectionate, people focused, joyful, and emotionally intuitive. He spreads happiness without trying. His tail keeps the beat, his expressive eyes tell whole stories, and his presence alone can lift the mood of a room. If love had a soundtrack, Bob would be on repeat. Track 1: Redemption Song When Bob Marley arrived at the shelter, he was buried beneath severe matting and thick dreadlocks that were painfully caked with urine, feces, and filth. Every tug of his coat caused discomfort. Volunteers removed what they safely could, and at his professional grooming appointment, Bob was shaved all the way down so he could finally feel relief. And underneath it all was a gentle, trusting dog with natural mystic energy who never stopped believing in people. His beautiful coat grew back. His heart was always gold. Track 2: Is this Love? Bob is a classic velcro dog. He wants to know where his people are at all times and prefers to be wherever they are—kitchen, living room, bathroom, anywhere. Closed doors are mildly offensive, and he may whine briefly in protest. When crated, he might voice his opinion for a minute or two but settles quickly and relaxes. Track 3: Sun is Shining Bob wakes around 8am, stretching out of his crate after sleeping soundly through the night. Mornings begin with a few happy zoomies before heading into the yard for potty time. He sometimes needs a few minutes to fully finish his business, then it is back inside for his morning meds (best served with cheese, in Bob’s opinion) and breakfast. He prefers his special kibble topped with something extra, because Bob believes meals should feel like a celebration. After breakfast, he settles briefly before heading out for a walk with his foster sister, an 11 lb Maltipoo. Bob walks beautifully on a harness, happily matching her pace, waiting politely while she sniffs, and never pulling or reacting to dogs, squirrels, or birds. He may grab the leash in excitement but he responds well to gentle redirection. Back home, it is playtime. Bob loves toys— especially balls. If it is round, he needs it. He also enjoys tug and will happily entertain himself with a toy if his foster sibling prefers her own space. Bob understands doggy body language beautifully. If another dog asks for space, he respects it and moves along. He can coexist calmly with another easygoing dog and has even been spotted napping side by side on the couch. His current routine includes midday crate time while his foster parents rest for night shift work. Bob handles this beautifully, resting from about 12–3pm, enjoying afternoon time with foster dad, then another short crate break before evening play, dinner, and his final round of meds around 10pm. If someone is home, Bob happily roams, alternating between playful bursts and cozy couch naps. He has a wonderful off-switch after he has gotten his energy out. Track 4: Could you be Loved When Bob first arrived, he was extremely curious and overwhelmed by all the newness. He sniffed every inch of the house and had trouble settling that first night. Within a few days, once he realized he was safe, his nervous energy melted away. Now he is confident, playful, and comfortable in his routine. Bob is very playful and energetic in short bursts—zoomies, tug sessions, ball chasing—followed by blissful lounging. He will dig at the couch cushions to create the perfect nap nest, then curl up contentedly beside his person. He does not bark, even at the mail carrier. He is housetrained as long as he is given regular opportunities to go outside and will use a potty pad if needed, though he prefers the outdoors. Bob is tender, expressive, and deeply loving. He does not just want a home. He wants to belong. Track 5: No Woman, No Cry Bob Marley has epilepsy and is on medication that he will need to remain on for life. His condition is currently managed and does not stop him from being joyful, affectionate, and full of life. This is simply part of his story, not what defines him. Final Track: One Love Bob Marley is the kind of dog who changes a home. He brings joy, warmth, and positive vibrations wherever he goes. His idea of a perfect world includes one couch, one family, and a whole lot of love. One dog. One home. One love.  February 27, 2026, 4:32 pm
