Story
Kendra is one of five puppies born to Josie.  She and her siblings have been in foster care since birth and are highly social. Kendra and her brother Kyle have a more wirey hair look to them that they get from Mom it appears, while the other 3 look more pug mix.  Mom is only about 10 pounds.  We have no information on Dad and don't know what influence Dad will have on size but we would anticipate the pups staying on the smaller side. They've all been around other dogs and got along great (no cat experience).  All of the puppies weigh between 10 and 12 pounds. They've had 2 in the series of 3 distemper/parvo combo vaccines and are too young right now for rabies.  Spay/neuters will be arranged under the rescue when age appropriate.  All puppies and dogs from our organization are microchipped.    Interested in adopting me?  To fill out an application visit 3 Hearts 4 Paws.  Please note: we do not adopt out of state.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 13, 2025, 11:01 pm

Story
Meet Helix, a 1 year old, 13 lb Chihuahua Pug mix!Foster mom describes him best in 3 words: Loving. Energetic. Curious. He’s always ready for naps and snuggles, with some charming bursts of zoomies, and very proudly passionate about his toys (and yes, socks made the VIP list… but he’s working on his sock chewing PhD )Helix adores being near his people, loves gentle rubs, and finds comfort in the indoors where he can truly relax. He happily snuggles up for naps, self entertains with his favorite dog toys, and once comfortable, hilariously unleashes spurts of zoomie magic that keep his foster mom smiling daily. He enjoys meeting other dogs, greets them with polite sniffs, and will gleefully run around with them when invited. Helix thrives on routine and gentle reassurance. The sounds of city life can feel a little big sometimes, so cars and loud noises might spook him on walks but he gets braver every day. Hd does have a minor cleft (think: a tiny cleft nose and cleft lip, not a full cleft palate), and the best news is it doesn’t impact his life at all! He doesn’t need any special feeding, care, or medical support. No restrictions, no surgeries, no fancy routines!  ##2581080##

Story
Meet our super sweet and gentle 5-year-old pug girl. She’s shy and still learning the world, but gaining confidence and trust in humans every day. She’s a bit weary of the busy NYC streets and not yet fully leash-trained, so for now she feels safest inside. House training is a work in progress—she has occasional accidents and hasn’t mastered potty pads—but she’s tidy and never destructive! She is friendly with other dogs, and would likely do well in a home with another dog who can teach her the go around. She relaxes best in her crate (dim lights + soft music = bliss), and once she feels safe there, she’ll happily accept gentle pets. She eats and drinks well, sleeps through the night, and her curiosity about toys shows a playful spark. She needs a calm, patient home that celebrates small wins. If you love helping dogs blossom, she’ll be your little soulmate. 3 Keywords for your pup: Sweet, shy, curious!Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 6Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Occasional barkerWalking Manners: She needs patience learning how to walk on a leash. Appetite: Great!Favorite Things: Sleeping in a comfy crate  ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea. ##2487032##

Story
Ted - 6 years, 18lbs, Pug/Chi Mix, Neutered  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Their Foster Parent Says: "Ted is a very sweet and very shy boy, but he is getting braver and opening up more and more every day. He does great in all kinds of public situations and will accompany you on your walk to the coffee shop or to a fun weekend brunch spot, where he expects at least 4 french fries. He is very treat-motivated but is polite with his meals and likes to graze throughout the day. Napping on the sofa or at your feet while you work is his main daytime activity. He also loves chewing on his stick and gazing out the window. He is very curious about what the people are up to and will follow to observe you (just in case you're getting a treat). Ted would love a backyard that he can freely explore and hang out in when the weather is nice, but he also loves wandering around the city, so it's not a must. Ted is very patient and doesn't mind when you leave; he will curl up and snooze or stare out the window while you're away. He is still very shy with other dogs in public but seems to open up and like them when they are in the apartment, so a companion for him would be nice! He is still very nervous when being picked up in public, so it's best to travel with a carrier if going on the subway. He will require meds 3x a day for his heart but usually eats it with no complaints with a pill pocket or piece of Parmesan. Ted is such a sweetheart, and his quirks are to be expected for a dog that has never lived in a home, but he is adapting very quickly and would make an excellent companion for someone living a slower pace of life." Level of dog ownership experience needed:BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.  MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60  minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusTed has pulmonary hypertension - a side effect of being treated for heartworm. Requires daily medication and annual monitoring. He ended up in the ER for a few days a few months ago but has been doing really well on his medication once we were able to find out exactly what was going on! Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Meet Aretha! I’m a very sweet 6-year-old Puggle/Chihuahua gal with a beautiful face that puts a smile on your face , and I have soft black-and-tan coat. At just 18 pounds, I’m the perfect size—small enough to snuggle but cute enough to strut with style! I’m thriving in a loving foster home and enjoy spending time with my foster siblings, but I’d be just as happy as your one-and-only, soaking up all your attention. I walk nicely on a leash and love going out in the city to say hello to everyone I meet. I’ve been fully vetted, spayed, and am up to date on all my vaccinations. All I need now is a forever home where I can keep blossoming and share all the love I have to give. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle companion who’s ready to love and be loved, I might just be your girl. Apply to adopt me here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POSH/Dog

Story
Anise was found as a stray and brought to the Associated Humane Society of Newark. She struggled in the shelter environment, clearly having lived in a home. Despite the stress, she bonded to the staff of the shelter and welcomed love and attention. She is estimated to be about 9 years old and is 16 pounds. She is very active and exciteable, so this senior lady still have many many happy years ahead of her should the right family give her space to flourish! We believe little Anise probably had puppies at one point, but is now spayed and recovering well. Anise walks very excitedly on the leash, and wants to meet most people who pass her by. She loves to cuddle with you, and like a typical terrier likes to dig and snuffle in your lap or on the couch. She could go home with a compatible pup. But no kitties, birds, or small mammals for this little lady. She absolutely loves to chase birds and watch them do their bird things. She would love to walk with you, or even run if you're up for it! She is completely housebroken and doesn't mind her crate. Anise has an adorable underbite! Anise is a sweet girl looking for a second chance at life with a family who will cherish her and understand her terrier-ness! Anise is currently in a foster home in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. We are hoping for a Christmas Miracle- so she can spend this holiday season with a furever family... Could that be you? We are open to fostering-to-adopt, and happy to set up meet and greets with those who apply!
