Story

Becca is a little doll!! Her outstanding feature is her captivating eyes! If her eyes don’t draw you into her, her sweet personality will! She is timid but at the same time seeks out closeness. She is a 2 to 3 year-old 44 pound camel-colored cutie that was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/5. When I sat down, the first thing Becca did was cautiously approach wagging her tail. When I called her from across the yard she came running. She’s very sweet, gentle, affectionate, and curious. She walks well on a leash. She did her business immediately upon entering the yard. She would love to get out to explore and play some but then hang out inside under the A/C with her new family. You’ll be the envy of all your friends as the owners of such a cutie pie!

Story

Meet Laynie! Laynie is a 4-year-old Boxer with a gorgeous brindle coat and that wonderfully goofy, lovable personality Boxers are known for. One of the best parts of Laynie? Coming home to her! After a long day at work, she’ll greet you with the classic Boxer butt wiggles, her whole back end wiggling with excitement because her favorite person is finally home. She is good with other dogs and children and is already crate trained. She does great on a leash and in the car, making her an easy companion for walks, errands, or weekend adventures. She’s also not much of a barker, so she isn’t one to narrate every little thing happening outside the window. At 4 years old, Laynie is past the puppy stage but still has plenty of Boxer fun and personality to share. She’s a beautiful, happy girl looking for a family to call her own and people to greet with those famous wiggles every single day. Story

Hi, I’m Charlie. â¤ï¸ I’m a 13-year-old Boxer mix, and all I really want is a soft place to land. At my age, I should be curled up on a cozy couch, sleeping in a warm bed, and spending my days with someone who loves me. But instead, I’m living in a shelter. About three weeks ago, I was hit by a car and left injured in the road. I’ve been through so much, and all I want now is a chance to feel safe and loved. â¤ï¸‍ Here’s a little about me: â¤ï¸ I’m a sweet, shy senior who warms up quickly when I feel safe. I love people and enjoy hanging out in the office with the staff. I’m housebroken! I’ve done well with some dogs at the shelter. I’ve shown no reaction to cats. I survived being hit by a car. And now, I’m just waiting for someone to give me a chance. I know I’m not a puppy. I know I’m a senior. But I still deserve a warm bed, a peaceful home, and someone who will love me for whatever time I have left. â¤ï¸ For more information or to adopt, foster, or foster-to-adopt this pet, please contact Rowlett Animal Services 972-412-6219 or AnimalServices@Rowlett.com.October 1, 2026, 2:55 pm

Story

Rudy is a six year-old 69 pound black and white pitbull mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7//25 as a stray. Sweet Rudy hasn`t had the best life as can be seen with some missing hair. We told him, we will make sure he has great meals and plenty of TLC so he will feel and look much better. When I sat down he came and gently put his head on my lap. The look he gave me just melted my heart. I was in love! He has inner beauty that shines through. Come meet him and you will see what I mean. He walked right beside me on a leash. He did his business as soon as he got out into the yard. He is now ready for the new phase of his life where he will be cherished!!!

Frank

Story

Meet Frank! He is a 4yr old neutered male American Pitbull mix that weighs 69lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/3 as a stray. He is a very handsome boy and definitely has a zest for life. He loves to explore the play yard and take in all the smells. Frank can walk a bit strongly on a leash, yet I know with a bit more training he will do well. He knows the sit command and takes treats gently. He loves treats and can sometimes be pushy when he wants more. Reminding him to sit and not jump for more helps him stay on task. He enjoys being petted too. Walking past the other dogs barking at him, he showed no interest. We do ask tho if you have another dog in the home to please ask the shelter for a dog test. Frank would need to have a secured yard to play in, then come back inside where he has his own dog bed and able to spend time with his favorite family companions.
