Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Candy! She is a 2 yr old spayed female Boxer/Pitbull mix that weighs 42lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/17 as a stray. She is a cute little girl but does not understand why she is at the shelter. She is a bit shy at first but does warm up. Candy loves to sit close, cuddle and get tummy rubs. It appears she may have lived inside and been housetrained. And she has told me having a loving happy home where she lives inside, having her own fluffy dog bed, and receiving lots of petting, is exactly what she dreams of. She walks well on a leash and takes treats gently. All of the other dogs barking does make her a bit uneasy, yet she showed no aggression to them. We always do ask if there will be another dog in the home to please ask the shelter for a dog test. She is very gentle, kind and loving and her name says exactly who she is. Come spend time with Candy.

Story
Newman was born on January 1st, 2021 and is now 3 years old. He is a very sweet and loyal partner. Newman loves to snuggle and loves treats. He will follow you around wherever you go, but he also loves to just chill in his bed. He isn’t big on toys, he prefers to get scratches. Newman is a very sweet dog but unfortunately he does not like our senior male dog. He is crate trained. Newman gets along with our female dogs perfectly fine! So he may be okay in a home with a female companion or as an only dog!

Story
Coco or Coconuts was found living at the location where I work. I was able to catch her and bring her home with me to make sure nothing bad happened to her. She appears to be under one year of age and a completely lovable puppy. I have held on to her for a month, trying to find her owners, but I have had no luck. She gets along very well with my dog and loves being around people. She is the biggest cuddle bug. We have worked on house training, which she has done very well. She loves going on runs and would do great with an active lifestyle. If you are looking for an adorable cuddle bug, Coco may be the one for you. I cannot keep her due to the large amount of traveling for work that I do. I have a kennel, collar, and leash you may take with her. I will also cover the fee to have her fixed.

Story
My name is Chloe and I am a beautiful three your old 65 lb bully/boxer mix, or so my foster mom thinks I am. I have been spayed and dewormed and I have finished my HW treatment. I received my first preventative dose and have 5 more monthly HW prevention doses left before I can be retested to make sure I am negative. My previous owner took good care of me and I was handled as a puppy so I love ALL the pets. You can touch my paws, tummy and ears, no problem! I love to wear my harness and am learning to be a good walker on leash. I am all muscle so I need a strong pack leader to help redirect me on walks. I love being in the yard and I will follow you everywhere, inside or outside. I LOVE that I get to sleep in the bed with my foster mom but I will be ok sleeping in my own bed, too. When my foster mom is at work, I stay in my XL crate for a few hours. I do not like it but I manage. Just make sure I get a potty break first. Treats help lure me in and sometimes I need a little push. My previous owner kept letting me out so I was in the shelter 4 times before I was pulled by rescue. My foster mom does not know why my owner did not come for me the last time. I live with a small resident dog and 3 cats. I mostly ignore the cats but really want to play with the resident dog. She is scared of my size so we only interact on leash while on walks. I will do best with another large dog in the house, or perhaps being an only dog. My foster mom thinks I would do best in a home with older children or no children. My ideal situation would be a stay-at-home person or someone who works in a shop. I would make an awesome shop dog. I would sleep near you all day and help supervise. I only bark on occasion if I get startled. I also will whine if I am alone for too long, but who doesn’t. I am a people lover! I love chews but do best with soft chew toys and treats as the hard ones hurt my teeth. I can be picky about my food so my foster mom sprinkles just a little cheese on top to encourage me to eat. I usually leave a little food in my bowl and come back to finish it later. I am BIG on hydration and love to drink water. It helps keep me energized and my coat looking shiny. If you think I might be a good fit for your family and you want to hook up. Please fill out an application! Application available at https://www.pawsofloverescue.com/adoption-application   . Adoption donation of $295 includes spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, dhpp vaccinations, rabies shot, bordetella nose spray and heart worm treatment with a positive test prior to adoption. Meet Austin! Austin is a happy, healthy pup who loves other dogs and people. He knows sit, kennel, outside, in, and is working on his leash manners. He's doing well with his potty training and accidents are scarce. Sweet puppy snuggles required. He is a 7 month old boxer mix who weighs about 15 lbs. Ready to meet Austin? Story
COURTESY POST: Meet Rocky. He is a sweet boy who has been with his current caretakers for a long time. Rocky is a social butterfly and loves the company of cats, kids, and other dogs. He is currently in boarding and desperately needs a foster home or an adopter. Rocky is fully vetted and ready to go to his new home. Please consider giving Rocky a loving home. Rocky is about 4 years old and weighs 65 pounds. Please note that we don't recommend Rocky to families with children under 5. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Hound! He is a 5yr old male Pitbull mix that weighs 61lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/28. He was found abandoned in a home with a female dog and her 3 puppies, which most likely Hounds is the dad. He is a very handsome boy, with bright golden brown eyes. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, knows the sit command and wags his little tail while being petted. He enjoys investigating the shelter yard and stretching his legs while enjoying the sunshine! He likes to chase balls but doesn't always bring them back. As we walked through the shelter yard with other dogs barking he didn't show much interest in them. We do always ask if there will be another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. Sweet Hound hopes to find his own loving family with a secured backyard, but most importantly lives indoors to enjoy the company of his human companions. Please come meet this wonderful boy and give him the home he deserves.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Diana has very interesting grayish brown coloring and what looks like half of a tail. She is unique in that way! She is a four-year-old 63 pound terrier pit that originally came from Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/21 as a stray. She was adopted two months later. Her owners failed to keep her secure and she showed up at the shelter two times in 2022. Both times her owners reclaimed her. On 6/18 this year she came in as a stray. This time her owners are ignoring calls from the shelter so she is now available for adoption. When she was out in the yard, she spent a lot of time looking out the gate. She looked very sad. I suspect she was looking for her owners! She also had drool indicating she had a nervous stomach. Even though she's super sweet she obviously has not acclimated to the shelter yet. Who can blame her? She sits for treats and takes them gently. She's highly motivated by treats and kept sitting in anticipation of a treat reward. She also chased a ball but did not retrieve it. She stayed close, looking up at me with adoring eyes. At the end of the session, she relaxed a little and became more animated. Diana is gentle, friendly, and well-behaved. She has a semi-strong pull on the leash. She did her business as soon as she got into the yard and had kept her kennel clean. She wagged her tail meeting smaller dogs, but when she met some bigger ones the fur went up on her back. We always suggest if you have another dog to ask the shelter to do a dog test. She's already spayed! She needs owners this time that will care enough about her to make sure that she's secure in her surroundings. She would love nothing better than to snuggle up with you on the couch in the evenings during family time.

Story
Meet Echo! He is a 2yr old neutered male American Pitbull mix that weighs 49lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7/27 as a stray. Echo was a stray at the shelter in 2022 originally, and he was so excited when he was adopted on 5/23 of this year. Yet two months later he is back at the shelter and his owners did not reclaim him. Echo is an active energetic pup that loves to run through the shelter yard chasing balls. Yet he found his favorite place while out in the yard....the toy box! He will jump right in, sort through all the toys to find just the right one. He will entertain himself with the toys and is always a joy to watch. Echo is a very active boy that would love to have an active lifestyle with his own loving family. He does jump when he is excited so continued training would be best. Chasing balls/toys are great, but taking him for a jog, long walks or a hike, he would so enjoy that. He is a very playful and fun loving boy, so having a secured backyard would be great! He loves everyone he meets. He knows the sit command, walks well on a leash, yet can pull with excitement at times, and takes treats gently. He walks past all the other dogs barking at him in the shelter, so if there will be another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. He is a happy boy that loves to be petted and loved on too! If you are looking for a running/walking partner Echo is your guy! Come meet him!
