Story
Hi! My name is Bandit and I am a 2-year old happy Boxer mix who loves to play and cuddle. I really enjoy chew toys and love to play games of tug of war and fetching balls. Car rides are so much fun too. I also love to snuggle up with my person and will follow my person everywhere. I know how to sit and stay but I am a little stubborn when I am asked to come when my person calls me. My person needs to rehome me because I am told I am just too much for my person to handle at her age and need someone who can spend more time with me and train me to be the best dog I can be. I am really smart but need socialization training and although I love to go on walks, I am very strong-willed and need a firm hand and discipline training while taking walks. I love kids and get along well with larger dogs but do not get along well with small dogs, cats or any small animals so I may do best as an only dog or as a single brother to another dog my size.

Story
Cleo is an older dog but full of energy. She’s a cuddle buddy, good with people and kids, and she is a good dog that always loves to sit next to you while you’re watching tv or just sitting by the couch. We originally adopted her from an animal foundation years ago but we took her in and she fit right into our home even with being adopted as an older dog. Sadly, my wife and I’s work schedule are becoming too busy for us to have a dog. She is potty trained but she is used to having a backyard to go out to and going to find a family that has that.

Story
We found Ralph abandoned on the side of the road in 2023 and took him in, and he’s been part of our family ever since. From the start, he got along well with our two dogs (aside from our small dachshund occasionally giving him a hard time!) and settled in quickly. Ralph is a very energetic, affectionate dog who loves to play, go on walks, and snuggle. He’s about 3 years and 9 months old, and we estimate his birthday to be around June 2022. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. Ralph would do best in a home that can match his energy level and give him plenty of opportunities for exercise and play. Ideally, he would either be the only dog in the home or live with other large, active dogs who can keep up with him and help him burn off his energy. He can be reactive on walks—when he sees other dogs or people, he may bark and pull on the leash—so he would benefit from an experienced owner who is comfortable continuing his training and helping him feel more at ease.

Story
Are you looking to add some spice in your life? Do you want someone that will love you unconditionally? Well Annie will do both. She is a 2-3 yr-old reddish brown terrier pit with stand up ears. She weighs 39 pounds and arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/26 as a stray. She is highly motivated by treats and does sit for them. However, she gets overly excited and does not take them gently. She will need some manners training to learn not to do this. She occasionally jumps on you but gets down when told to do so. She does want to please. She is high energy and full of a lot of enthusiasm. It would be very helpful for her to have lots of toys and to be able to go on walks or runs with her new owners. She is super friendly. She’s tail-wagging happy. She does have a strong pull on the leash. She was friendly with other dogs, but at the same time the hair on her back went up. We would advise if another dog is in the home, to ask the shelter for a dog test. She did do her business in the yard immediately. She wants to be an inside dog where she can cuddle up with her new family after playtime.

Story
Meet Helena! She’s a gorgeous 3-year-old spayed female Terrier Pitbull/Ibizan Hound mix weighing 45 lbs. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/22 as a stray. Helena is cautiously friendly—shy and timid—but that’s okay, she just needs time to build trust and confidence. She walks nicely on a leash, knows the sit command, and takes treats gently. Right now, she’d do best in an adult home with patient people who will let her open up at her own pace. When passing other dogs, she shows no reaction, but if you have another dog, the shelter recommends a dog test. She enjoys chasing toys, though she hasn’t mastered bringing them back. Helena deserves a loving family to play with her in a secure yard and spend quality time indoors. With patience, time, and plenty of tasty treats, she’ll blossom into a more confident pup. Come meet Helena!

Story
Meet Axel! He’s a 1-year-old neutered male American Pitbull mix weighing 35 lbs. He arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/19/25 as a stray, was adopted, but returned on 11/22 due to his high energy. While he still has bursts of puppy energy and loves doing zoomies in the yard, after a few minutes he just wants to sit close—often in your lap—for plenty of attention. Axel is a smart boy who knows sit, down, and stay. During bath time, he’s calm and enjoys his mini spa day, followed by a sunny walk. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, and loves rolling over for belly rubs. The only thing he needs to work on is his excitement when leaving his kennel, as he thinks it’s time to play tug-of-war with the leash. Axel has an outgoing, loving personality that’s hard to resist. He ignores barking dogs when walking past, but it’s best to do a dog test if you have another pup at home. He’s not fond of cats, so he’ll need a cat-free home. With daily playtime, walks, and treats, he could easily learn more commands. Axel dreams of a secure yard to play in and an indoor life where he can stay close to his humans—just what this sweet boy deserves. Come meet him!
