We found Ralph abandoned on the side of the road in 2023 and took him in, and he’s been part of our family ever since. From the start, he got along well with our two dogs (aside from our small dachshund occasionally giving him a hard time!) and settled in quickly. Ralph is a very energetic, affectionate dog who loves to play, go on walks, and snuggle. He’s about 3 years and 9 months old, and we estimate his birthday to be around June 2022. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. Ralph would do best in a home that can match his energy level and give him plenty of opportunities for exercise and play. Ideally, he would either be the only dog in the home or live with other large, active dogs who can keep up with him and help him burn off his energy. He can be reactive on walks—when he sees other dogs or people, he may bark and pull on the leash—so he would benefit from an experienced owner who is comfortable continuing his training and helping him feel more at ease.

Shelby is very strong, friendly, and discerning. Shelby loves playing with other dogs, attending dog parks and loves walks, except when it's raining and thundering as she gets anxiety. She has not been around cats and currently resides with her three pups and a Lab. Shelby is a very bright dog! As much as she loves playtime with others, she loves relaxing, cuddling, kisses and belly rubs. She loves riding in the car and taking trips. Shasta was rescued under a church with her five siblings and her mother at just a few weeks old. Shasta is a very powerful and bossy pup who still plays well with her siblings. Meet Ida May! She’s a 4-year-old spayed female Terrier-Pitbull mix weighing 46 lbs. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/26 as a stray. This beautiful girl has an outgoing, bubbly personality and loves spending time in the play yard, stretching her legs and doing plenty of zoomies. Once she’s burned off some energy, she enjoys sitting close for ear rubs. She walks well on a leash, though she can get a bit excited and pull at times. She knows the sit command and takes treats gently. When she saw another dog pass by, she ran along the fence wanting to play. If there’s another dog in the home, the shelter requests a dog test. Ida May has a sweet, loving nature and dreams of finding a forever family with a secure yard where she can run and play, then come inside to her toys and bed for long, cozy snoozes near her loved ones.

Are you looking to add some spice in your life? Do you want someone that will love you unconditionally? Well Annie will do both. She is a 2-3 yr-old reddish brown terrier pit with stand up ears. She weighs 39 pounds and arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/26 as a stray. She is highly motivated by treats and does sit for them. However, she gets overly excited and does not take them gently. She will need some manners training to learn not to do this. She occasionally jumps on you but gets down when told to do so. She does want to please. She is high energy and full of a lot of enthusiasm. It would be very helpful for her to have lots of toys and to be able to go on walks or runs with her new owners. She is super friendly. She’s tail-wagging happy. She does have a strong pull on the leash. She was friendly with other dogs, but at the same time the hair on her back went up. We would advise if another dog is in the home, to ask the shelter for a dog test. She did do her business in the yard immediately. She wants to be an inside dog where she can cuddle up with her new family after playtime.

Meet Tribe! He is a 6yr old neutered male Mix Breed, possibly Plott Hound in the mix, that weighs 76lbs. He was surrendered due to the owners were out of town more and couldn`t care for him. On the surrender form they said he was an indoor dog, was housebroken, was raised with older children and was good with them and would need to be an only dog. They also said that he knew the come, sit and stay commands. There’s no doubt he’s very well mannered and has been treated well. He’s a stocky boy! He casually strolled around the yard but wanted in after he had done his business. He’s extremely sweet, friendly, affectionate, calm and happy. He had bouts of playfulness. He walks well on a leash especially considering how big he is. He stood by the door wanting in, indicating he wants to be an inside dog. Being with his human companion indoors, being cuddly is what he dreams of.
