Story
Besides being a handsome dude with freckles on his nose, this is one fine dog! Milo is a one to two year-old 60 pound boxer mix that was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter through no fault of his own. He was found by a trucker that realized he couldn’t keep him because of his lifestyle. Milo needs someone that has time to love on him and in return Milo his loads of love to lavish on you and your family! He also needs someone to play with him. He responds to his name and comes when you call him. He sits for treats and takes them relatively gently. The surrender form stated that he was both an inside/outside dog and that he was good with dogs and children but not with cats. He’s happy, friendly, energetic, playful, and alert. The surrender form also said he was good with other dogs, and I also noticed that he didn’t have a problem going through the bay. He walks well on a leash. Milo is patiently waiting for you.

Gus is an adorable and affectionate Boxer mix who is eager to find his forever home.  He has turned out to be THE best boy and is loved by everyone that meets him!   He is an intelligent dog who is good with other dogs and is loyal to those around him. This handsome boy has been fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and tested Negative for heartworms!!   He was about 62 pounds when rescued from the streets, and he is still thin.  We believe he is approximately 2 years old, maybe less.  He sometimes still urinates like a puppy and he's so curious about Everything... sneaks up on anything unfamiliar.  It's so cute to watch! Gus is house-trained and he knows 'sit.'  He takes treats very gently from your hand and will give you big kisses in return.  He's playful, but will chill with you on the couch, too ! He is good with other dogs and children.  He's an all-around great dog and has many years ahead to fill your life with love and fun!   If you're looking for a sweet and friendly dog, Gus is the one for you!    Please apply to Foster OR Adopt Brady by completing the online application you will find near his photos on our website,  www.BaytownHumaneSociety.org

Story
Anyone up for some Tea? This sweet and curious girl may be a little shy at first, but once she warms up, she’ll steal your heart. Tea’s favorite things in life are her ball, yummy treats, and mealtime—so it doesn’t take much to make her happy! Normally a quiet and laid-back pup, she has the cutest little bark when she decides to use it. Tea would do best in a home with older children, as she has a habit of putting things in her mouth like a curious toddler. Once you’ve earned her trust, she’ll gladly curl up in your lap and soak up all the head rubs she can get. With a medium-to-high energy level, Tea is always up for playtime but also enjoys relaxing with her favorite humans. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and playful companion, Tea is ready to bring warmth and love into your home! Could Tea be the perfect match for you? To meet Tea, please fill out an application! Application available at https://www.pawsofloverescue.com/adoption-application . $295 Adoption donation includes spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, dhpp vaccinations, rabies shot, bordetella nose spray and any other necessary procedures prior to adoption. Dallas/Ft. Worth area Applications can be found online at www.pawsofloverescue.com, under the adopt tab.  We require an approved application before a meet and greet is set up.  April 28, 2025, 3:20 pm

Story
Meet this playful pup, Sheldon Duke. He is 5 months, weighing 29 lbs., boxer mix with a smooth white coat, unique spots, and floppy ears. Sheldon was rescued under a church with his five siblings and his mother at just a few weeks old. Sheldon is a very energetic, and affectionate pup who loves to cuddle and looks forward to daily belly rubs. Sheldon gets along with dogs, has not been around cats. He currently lives with his mom, two siblings and a Lab. Sheldon loves to use toys to attract other dogs to play with him. An ideal home for Sheldon would be one that is safe and comfortable where he will receive plenty of love, affection and training. He is one intelligent pup! He loves a good car ride and loves the outdoors. Because he is a pup, would love to put him in an environment with a family that has children, if possible, but not required. Sheldon is partially crate trained with no issues sleeping or playing in one. However, he does not potty inside as he will bark to inform you if he needs to go. Sheldon will need continued training on a leash and basic commands. Sheldon has received the following vaccinations: Rabies, Bordetella, DHPP. He is microchipped and will be neutered on 06/17/2025. Reason for rehoming: Sheldon is currently under temporary care by his rescue family who are unable to keep him permanently. This bubbly pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Sheldon today! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Sheldon Duke, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Let me introduce you to my newest doggie friend Raleigh, an American Staffordshire Terrier/American Pit Bull mix came in on 4/5 as a stray to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. He weighs 50lbs, is 1 year old and is neutered. He has the most beautiful coloring—a golden/auburn colored coat and with gorgeous golden eyes. He is docile, timid, and shy, and still a bit cautiously friendly He has come so far in such a short time, that he will continue to learn to trust, relax and warm up. He does walk well on a leash. He does like treats and takes them politely. And he even gives kisses when he warms up to a new human friend. Raleigh will undoubtedly make some person or family a devoted and loyal pet. With lots of TLC shown him and an inside life with his people in order to bond. Won’t you please give this sweet boy a second chance at a forever home in which he will be given the loving care he deserves

Story
Tanner is a 3yr old 49 lb Staffordshire pit that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/12. If he looks worried in some of these pictures, he most likely is. He wants and deserves adopters that will cherish him. He has a lot of love to give. When I sat down, he immediately came to me to put his head on my lap. Actually at one point he put his paws up on my lap. He gives kisses. He is so affectionate. He does sit for treats. He takes the treats relatively gently considering how hungry he must be. He’s very sweet, affectionate, calm, gentle, and alert. He walks OK on a leash. He did his business in the yard. He didn’t have a problem meeting other dogs. I did not see any aggression. He wants to be an inside dog. He likes to watch television. He particularly likes Animal Planet but if you’re a a Rangers fan, he’ll be a Rangers fan. He just wants to be part of a new family.

Story
If you’re looking for for love, come to the Mesquite Animal Shelter and meet Brindi. She is delightful 3 yr old brindle terrier pit lass that weighs 60 lbs. She was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/15 as a stray. I was met at her kennel with tail wags. It was obvious she was seeking human interaction. She’s a big girl that appears to have been well cared for. She certainly has good manners. She’s extremely loving. She sits for treats and takes them gently. She’s easy-going, tailwagging happy, friendly, calm, alert, and very, very sweet! She came from across the yard when I called her. When I sat down, she came for petting and to have her ears scratched. She kept her kennel clean and did her business in the yard. She may be housetrained. She was not interested in meeting other dogs. She has a strong pull on the leash. Since she’s so affectionate, she would like to cuddle with you on the couch or in her bed at your feet. Since she’s a big girl, a secured yard to play in, but live indoors, a home, not an apartment would be her dream.
