Story
Missy’s original owner passed away — he was the only family member who ever gave her attention, and the remaining family provides very little. Her background is largely unknown, including vet history and how she does with other animals. Missy is an older dog who may have hip issues or arthritis. When you first meet her, she can seem standoffish or even mean, but don’t let that fool you. She was scared and grieving. With patience and consistency, she completely opens up — she now lets me pet her and genuinely soaks up the attention when my friends and I come by to fill her food/water or tidy up the yard. She’s very food motivated and loves treats (ham is her favorite!). She can be protective over her space, like her dog house, but given that I first found her lying on a ripped moving blanket with no shade, that’s completely understandable. My biggest concern is the Texas heat she’ll face as an older outdoor dog. Missy just needs someone to be patient with her and give her a chance

Story
Meet Maria Maria is a 3Âנ year old Rottweiler (approx. 80 lbs) who was found severely injured in Rockwall on 03/14/26 and never reclaimed. Maria is now available for adoption to a loving home. When she first arrived at RAC, she was in pain and unable to use her leg after likely being hit by a car. X-rays confirmed a serious femur fracture along with additional minor injuries. Despite everything, Maria has remained incredibly sweet and gentle. At this time, amputation has been recommended as the most humane option in a shelter setting. However, we are urgently hoping for a rescue or adopter who has the ability to pursue orthopedic repair and provide the care she needs to heal. Time is critical for Maria. Without placement, her amputation surgery and spay are scheduled for 03/25/26. This date is non-negotiable in accordance with Texas state laws. If you plan to adopt, please plan accordingly for her appointment date. Maria is available for adoption with a $125 fee, which includes her spay, microchip, vaccinations, and heartworm test. Due to her current medical condition and recovery needs, we believe Maria would do best in a calm home environment with adults or children 16 years and older. At this time, we have not been able to assess her with other dogs, as her injuries limit safe interaction. Any introductions would need to take place after her surgery and once she has adequately healed. While there are still some unknowns, we firmly believe Maria deserves the opportunity-not just to survive, but to heal, feel safe, and be truly loved. Online Approved adoption application is required for meet and greets as well as adoption. If you are interested in giving Maria a loving furever home apply here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. March 31, 2026, 2:30 pm

Story
Meet Waverly – A Stunning Rottie Mix Ready to Be Your One-and-Only Waverly is a gorgeous 2-year-old female Rottweiler mix weighing about 73 lbs, and she's the kind of dog who turns heads everywhere she goes. She was found running loose near Highway 276 and Sun Drive, and when no owner was located and her finder couldn't keep her, she found herself at Rockwall Adoption Center - now waiting for the right forever home to come along. This beautiful girl has lived in a home before and is housebroken, which means she already understands the comforts of indoor life. While she isn't crate trained, she settles well inside and enjoys being part of the household. Waverly is looking for a home where she can be the only pet, so she can soak up all the attention and build a strong, devoted bond with her people. She's a loyal, people-focused companion who will thrive as the center of someone's world. Waverly is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her basic yearly vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is $125. If you're searching for a confident, beautiful, one-and-only best friend who's ready for stability, love, and a fresh start, Waverly might be your perfect match. Apply to adopt Waverly here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ Approved applicants will be contacted by Rockwall Adoption Center staff to discuss next steps. Story
Murphy – 3 years old male I met Murphy through the kennel door, and it was clear he was scared. But with a little encouragement, he found his courage, came right up to me, and gave me kisses. Murphy has the sweetest soul, and he deserves a far better start to life than he’s had so far. This gentle boy is ready for someone to show him what love and safety truly mean.   He is HW+, but you can foster to adopt , which means the dog stays with you until treatment is completed and they are cleared, at no extra cost to you. The dog comes off the adoption website once you are signed up for the foster to adopt program, or you can choose to go ahead and adopt, which at that point you are responsible for taking care of the treatment and the cost of the treatment Call the shelter at 972-744-4480 or email AskRichardsonAnimalServices@cor.gov to learn more.March 7, 2026, 12:25 pm

Story
Mocha 7-month-old • Male Meet Mocha — a playful, smart young pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Mocha is great with other dogs and loves to play. He’s also been gentle with cats, making him a nice fit for a multi-pet home. He hasn’t spent much time around kids yet and may be a bit too energetic for very small children. This handsome boy is fully potty trained and already knows several commands in both English and Spanish, including Sit, Stay, Hand/Mano. He’s very attached to his people and has a protective streak — more of a “watchful guardian” than a tough guy, as he’s never bitten anyone. Mocha is still a puppy at heart and can be jumpy and rambunctious, so he would benefit from continued training to polish his manners. He loves rubber toys and enjoys both indoor time and being outdoors in a secure yard. Best match: An active home that can provide structure, training, and plenty of love. Mocha will thrive with someone ready to guide him as he grows into a wonderful adult dog. Smart, playful, and loyal — Mocha is ready to find his forever home!
