Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **Bonded with Jasper***This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Meet Mae Mae! She is an extremely loving and affectionate dog who always wants pets but is equally happy to sit at your feet and chill when you're busy. Mae Mae is easy to pick up and cuddle, and she even allows cradling like a baby. She is the most happy and easygoing dog, thriving with anyone who will feed her and give her loads of attention. Mae Mae is not food aggressive or highly food motivated, and she isn't particularly playful, as she hasn't shown much interest in various toys, even ones with treats. She gets mini zoomies in the house when happy and would probably run like the wind if free outside. So far, she hasn't shown any forms of aggression or negative behavior. Mae Mae does get a little barky when she sees new things outside and likes to jump on the furniture to sleep, which we haven't tried to stop. We haven't needed to crate her, and she wasn't crated in her previous home either. She seems to like car rides and doesn't show any signs of stress during them. Mae Mae is a chill and delightful companion!   She is bonded to Jasper so they must be adopted together.  Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Mae Mae is from a local owner surrender.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. He is a shy little guy who can be quite anxious. Jasper tends to cower and run away from anyone approaching him, but he's better when his sister, Mae Mae, is around and will often follow her lead. Though he is not housebroken, keeping him on Mae Mae's schedule helps prevent most accidents in the house. Getting him outside can be challenging since he doesn’t like to come near people, so he always has a leash on. Once you have the leash, he follows like an expert. Jasper takes a long time to warm up to anyone, but even when he's unsure, he will generally let you pet or hold him if you can catch him. Despite being high-strung, he's a sweet little guy. His nervousness can be comical; he often looks like he's afraid of his own shadow. However, in a quiet house, he will find me and lay at my feet. If you catch him, he will allow cuddles and even lay next to you, though his first instinct is to be shy. Jasper’s short little legs are the cutest, and he can move fast!  Jasper is bonded to Mae Mae so they must be adopted together. Story
Meet Bella, a charming 10-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart full of love and a personality that's sure to steal your heart! Bella has been making great strides in her foster home, showing her potential as a loyal and loving companion. Here's a bit about Bella's journey and what makes her so special: About Bella Bella is a sweet and independent lady who enjoys the simple pleasures of life. She loves to play with her toys, often entertaining herself and bringing joy to those around her with her playful antics. Despite her age, Bella still has bursts of energy that make her run through the house with her toy, spreading laughter and happiness.  Bella is a delightful little spitfire who just wants to be with someone who understands her and loves her for who she is. She’s made significant progress in her foster home and is ready to find a forever family that will continue to help her grow and enjoy life to the fullest. If you’re looking for a devoted, fun-loving, and independent companion, Bella might be the perfect match for you! Ideal Home Bella would thrive best as an only dog or in a home with one other laid-back canine companion. She prefers a quieter household without children, as sudden movements can spook her. Bella needs a family that understands her need for space and independence but is also ready to provide the love and attention she craves. Social Skills Bella is learning to share and wait her turn, especially when it comes to treats and meals. She has shown remarkable progress in this area, though she still prefers to be the center of attention. She gets along with other dogs who respect her space, like her foster siblings Sophie and Shiloh. Bella can be playful in her own way, as seen when she eagerly awaited Gunner’s return and engaged in a spirited game of chase. House Manners Bella is a great helper around the house. She waits patiently to have her paws dried after coming inside on a wet day, ensuring the house stays clean. She spends her nights peacefully in her kennel and wakes up like a gentle alarm clock. Bella knows to use potty pads inside but is still adjusting to going outside regularly. Her foster mom is helping her with this, and Bella is making good progress. Outdoor Adventures Bella loves being outside, especially when the weather is nice. She enjoys walks and exploring her surroundings with her human. Bella tends to bark at the wind and other distractions when outside without structure, but on walks, she is more focused and enjoys the bonding time with her human. Special Traits Bella has the softest fur and the most beautiful big brown eyes that will melt your heart. She’s a cuddle bug who will follow you everywhere and seize every opportunity to snuggle by your side. Bella's bursts of playful energy and her little quirks, like her "crazy dance" when she successfully goes potty outside, add to her unique charm. ##2008779##

He gets along well with other dogs. Mostly house trained, but that can change from home to home so be prepared to work on this. He doesn’t chew on anything except his toys, but if you give him a toy with stuffing, he will tear it to pieces. He loves to sleep in the bed, but will sleep on a dog bed too. Lovessss his pup cups.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Do you want to meet me? Come to the Harlowe Salon , just down the street from our Headquarters in St. Louis Park ( 6414 W Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55426 ) for an Adoption Event on Saturday July 27th 12:00-2:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   Hi, I'm Derby! I'm a 4-year-old female Shih-Tzu, weighing in at a perfect 15 pounds. I'm the epitome of calm and laid-back, and I absolutely love to snuggle up with my favorite blankets at home. Once I get to know you and trust you, I'll be your little shadow, happily following you around wherever you go. I am timid and shy when approached, but getting braver everyday. One of my absolute favorite things in the world is food—it's the quickest way to my heart! I'm doing great with potty and crate training – a little treat bribery helps! I do have a few fears. Thunderstorms, loud noises, children, and overwhelming commotion can make me quite anxious. Because of this, I'm not good with children under 12 years old and would do best in a calm, quiet home. We are working on leash training, but because I am fearful it would be nice to have a fenced yard as I need more practice with my outdoor explorations. I don't need to be placed in a home with another dog, but if there is another dog, I prefer smaller ones. Most importantly, I need my humans to be home most of the time because I thrive on companionship. I'm extremely sweet and lovable. Though I might be skittish at first, once I trust you, I'll show you just how loving and affectionate I can be. If you're looking for a calm, food-loving, snuggly companion who will adore you endlessly, I'm your girl! Love, Derby Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
