Story
Buttercup and her sister and brother, Bubbles and Brodie were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd this year so they are 8 months old. Buttercup has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs just under 7 pounds and is probably full grown now. Buttercup is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Buttercup is a little bossy but plays great with her brother and sister. we feel like she would be fine with other dogs after getting to know them but would always want to be the boss. She would be fine with older children, and we are not sure about cats but the bossy part would be the same at first. If you would like to give this super affectionate love bug her forever home, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com. If you do not see a response, please check your spam folder.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Mochi is an 11&#226&#128&#145pound Shih Tzu with a whole lot of personality packed into her tiny frame. She may be a senior, but she certainly doesn’t act like it—this girl has plenty of pep in her step. She chases squirrels, barks at birds, and loves spending time outside before deciding it’s time to curl up next to (or directly on top of) her human for snuggles. She’s playful, goofy, and full of life. Mochi happily fetches tennis balls and toys, adores belly rubs, and has a hilarious way of communicating her needs—if her food bowl is empty, she’ll run to it, then run to you, and bark as if to say, “Excuse me… did you forget something?” Her beloved rooster toy is her favorite and will go with her to her forever home. Mochi is friendly with new people, rides well in the car, and enjoys being part of the household action. She’s potty trained, crate trained (though she may bark a bit before settling), and is working on her leash skills. She’s not obedience trained, but she comes when called and has even sat on command once—classic Shih Tzu style. She’s smart, soft, affectionate, and made herself at home right away in her foster home. Because she loves the freedom to explore, Mochi will do best with a fenced yard where she can safely enjoy her outdoor adventures. She’s moderately active, moderately energetic, and the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. She may prefer to sleep with her humans rather than in a kennel, but she’s flexible and adapts well. Mochi is a sweet, spirited, lovable little dog who brings joy wherever she goes. She’s ready to brighten someone’s life with her charm, her silliness, and her endless affection. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Hi, my name is Oscar! Oscar is a sweet and cuddly dog. All he wants in life is to please his person/people. He gets along great with dogs, cats and kids of all ages. He walks well on leash, is crate trained (he does prefer to sleep with his people in bed though), and potty trained. He is interested in marking in the home, but does great wearing a belly band. He does extremely well to please you, so he quickly listens and is easily redirected. He bonded quickly to our resident dog and cat. His favorite thing in life is to cuddle. He loves to hang out on his back with his belly exposed. If you're looking for a sweet, well mannered, and cuddly companion, Oscar is your dog!

Hi my name is Riggy Moe and I am from Minnesota! Riggy Moe is a Senior Mini Schnauzer, she is very sweet and adorable!! She is full of personality and she is a social gal as she likes to make new friends. She does great with my other dogs as well. She also likes going for walks when the weather is nice. She is doing well with her housetraining and her crate training, I recently have let her run of my bedroom, kitchen and she has been doing well with that. She is used to sleeping on my bed with me as I have doggy stairs for her to use and she definitely let you know her place is on the bed, I affectionately call her my Sassy Princess! She is a wonderful companion dog who already has me wrapped around her little paw as I just adore her! From the Vet: Ms. Riggy Moe is a spunky senior gal ready to find her final forever home for her golden years. While she is not without some medical that will required monitoring with her adoptive homes primary DVM as would be typical with any senior pup. Based on all other physical exam findings, we expect that she will be a perfect senior adoptable dog for some one looking for an easy companion!

Story
Hi, my name is Raisen, I am from Alabama. From his foster: Raisen adores being held and sleeping in your lap. After about a week of decompressing, his personality really began to come through. He's curious and confident, mastering the stairs quickly and fitting in easily with our 55lb resident dogs. He follows their cues, but isn't afraid to speak up if someone comes sniffing around the toy he's playing with. He even joined in with barking at the mail carrier! He had no clue why everyone was barking, but wanted to be part of the action. Raisen does sleep in his crate at night and does well with peeing on potty pads. He's about 50% there on where he decides to poop. We have not yet introduced Raisen to going outside or leash walking. From the Vet: Raisen has been staged for his heartworm disease, and at that appointment we determined he will need a few other things as well. If determined safe for anesthesia, Raisen will need a Neuter & Dental +/- a mass removal surgery either at least 2 weeks prior to starting heartworm injections OR this surgery will wait until 30-40 days after heartworm treatment. The BB Medical Team will update this portion of Raisen's bio as we get more information from his pending lab work associated with his heartworm staging and mass cytology. I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.

These pups are in Crystal, Minnesota too!

Story
Meet Nilla Bean a 5 year old Papillon and Chihuahua mix, who is a happy story of transformation.  While she still has spicy energy and excitement about life as a dog, she is far from the resource guarding pup she was 2 months ago.  She has learned how to play with toys to amuse herself, and incorporate the zoomies alone or with an agreeable dog to expel excess energy.   She also tolerates timeouts in the crate when she gets overwhelmed.  She loves to explore the fenced in yard and shows no signs of wanting to escape.  She occasionally potties in the house but mostly she does her business outside.  She would benefit from walks or dog park visits (after she has bonded with her human).  She loves snuggles and massages and sleeps happily through the night with her humans.  She settled well in the car the few times she’s been a passenger.  She’s a vigilant pup, noticing every movement or sound, and does bark at new noises or people.  For new people visiting, I have her on leash or in the crate until they are in and settled so she can sniff and check things out without the stress of arrival greetings and movement.  She is more comfortable every week with new experiences.  She responds to calm instructions, such as ‘you’re ok’, or ‘come here’ or ‘no bark’ etc.  She is treat and food motivated and in general is learning to trust people and a loving home.  I’m not sure how she would do with kids or cats, but again if they take it slow, I  think she will do fine.  A playful confident resident dog would be great for her, although I think with enough socialization she would also do well as an only dog.  She’s just waiting and improving her doggy skills for her forever family.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $425.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2025, 9:34 am
