Story
Hi friends! I'm Horace, the ultimate companion for anyone seeking a calm, loving presence at home. I'm a sweet adult boy, happiest when I'm by my human's side—whether they’re relaxing on the couch, heading up the stairs, or settling in for the night. Could you become my human? I'm a true “shadow dog” who will gladly snuggle up with you, I'll even sleep on your bed if you let me! I'm pretty low-key: I'm content to lounge around and soak up your affection. I'm not interested in roughhousing with other dogs or chasing toys on my own, but I’ll happily play fetch if you’re up for it. I'm friendly with other dogs and children, but I prefer a calm environment. I'm not a big fan of rowdy pups. I haven't met cats up close, but I've seen them through the window without making too much fuss. You can rest assured that I'm house trained, leash and crate trained, and I sleep soundly through the night. I'm easy to handle for grooming and am not bothered by household noises or thunderstorms. I also travel well in the car, settling in quickly (though you might hear me make a short whine). Recently neutered and with a fresh dental, I'm ready for my next chapter. I’d be a wonderful match for someone looking for a gentle, loyal companion—especially seniors or anyone with a quieter home. If you’re looking for a devoted friend who will always be by your side, I'm excited to meet you! Apply today to welcome this special boy into your life!   ----------   WHERE IS THIS PET LOCATED? The Rescue Crew is a foster-based rescue, which means all of our pets are cared for in homes throughout Minnesota.  Foster Home Pets: Meet & greets are scheduled after an approved adoption application Cats at The PURRfect Match Adoption Center (Andover, MN): Some cats may be available to meet during open hours Please visit our website for the most accurate information on this pet and next steps. Story
About Me- Hi, I'm Hershey! Around here they call me Sweet 'n Spicy. I'm a young, playful guy that you might call.... quirky? I love to cuddle and will glue myself to you for the night if you'll let me sleep in bed with you. I'm quite chatty and will verbalize my feelings to you if you talk to me. I love toys and chewing on things, and I'm still learning what is acceptable and what isn't so I appreciate when I'm given specific things to chew on. I LOVE treats but I'm working on taking them more gently! Now my dislikes: I don't really like it when people take things away from me, especially if I feel like they are important! I don't like being left alone, and I'm learning not to scratch on the door when the people leave. It might be a touch of separation anxiety, but I do pretty well if you leave me in a kennel when you leave, especially if there's something for me to chew on to keep me busy! The dogs around here are kind of fuddy duddies and don't really appreciate my puppy energy. I like to give the old guys a piece of my mind about that, but I'm more polite with the ladies. I can be a little growly if your doing things with me I don't like, like clippig nails brushing my face, but I'm still learning.  Due to this, a home with no kids is best. I haven't met any cats since I've been here, but I get along fine with the doggos; I just wish someone would play with me. My foster mom ays I don't shed. Potty trained? Well, I am mostly. I was not well cared for before joining my foster family, and a lot stems from that. I need to be shown what life is supposed to be like for a dog, and not something disposable. I love to run zoomies and if someone would take me for walks I would LOVE that! Do you think I would be a good fit for you? Let's talk about it!   WHERE IS THIS PET LOCATED? The Rescue Crew is a foster-based rescue, which means all of our pets are cared for in homes throughout Minnesota.  Foster Home Pets: Meet & greets are scheduled after an approved adoption application Cats at The PURRfect Match Adoption Center (Andover, MN): Some cats may be available to meet during open hours Please visit our website for the most accurate information on this pet and next steps. Story
Eugene is a charming 16-year-old Shih Tzu gentleman who has perfected the art of enjoying the good life. At this stage, he's not looking for wild adventures or long hikes—he's looking for a cozy home, a soft place to nap, a little sniff around the yard, and most importantly, someone to adore. Eugene is wonderfully affectionate and loves meeting people. He'll happily make his rounds, offering each person a polite sniff and accepting their pets, but his heart really belongs to his person. Once he's chosen you, expect a devoted little shadow who follows you from room to room and settles happily at your feet while you work, relax, or watch a movie. At 16, Eugene is understandably a low-key guy. A yard where he can wander and sniff is plenty of exercise, and while his days of long walks are behind him, his playful side is starting to peek out again. Every now and then he'll surprise you with a little senior zoomie—especially when dinner is approaching or his favorite person has just come home. Those moments of puppy spirit are pretty darn precious. Eugene has some joint pain and doesn't do stairs. If he encounters a staircase, he'll simply station himself at the bottom and bark to let you know that he'd appreciate a little assistance, please. He prefers gentle companions who understand that an old gentleman isn't interested in wrestling or being chased. Calm dogs or cats who can politely say hello and then go about their business would be much more his speed. He's also mostly deaf, so loud noises and sudden movements can occasionally startle him. When things get a little too hectic, he'll retreat to a quiet, safe spot until the excitement passes. Overall, though, Eugene is very much over the drama and has settled comfortably into his peaceful old-man lifestyle. Eugene is working on his house manners, but his aging bladder sometimes has other plans. He needs frequent opportunities to go outside and wears a belly band indoors as a backup. His foster reports that he has not had any poop accidents in the house. Eugene is a jolly little Shih Tzu who has earned every bit of comfort and kindness that comes with being a senior dog. He's ready for a calm household where he can spend his days surrounded by gentle people, modern comforts, and the person he loves most. ❤️🐾 ---- *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* ---- Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your Senior dog in top shape.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Garth! He is a tiny, adorable Shih Tzu who is sure to steal your heart! Garth knows the commands “come” and “go potty!” Although, listening and following through are still a work in progress. He’s a curious little guy who loves going on walks and sniffing everything he can find. When he encounters something he isn’t quite sure about, he may jump and bark at it until he realizes there’s nothing to worry about. Garth enjoys playing independently and loves chewing on his toys and bones. He also likes to know where his people are and prefers to be able to see you and stay nearby. He does well in his crate, but if he hears you nearby,  he may start barking to let you know he’d like to come out. The good news is that he usually settles down pretty quickly. We’ve also learned that Garth benefits from designated quiet time. He’s still learning how to fully settle himself, but with some structure and downtime, he does very well. This little guy is sweet, silly, curious, and absolutely full of personality. He may still be working on his manners and confidence, but he has so much love to give—and he’s going to make someone very happy! ❤️ Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    I f you’re looking for a gentle, devoted companion, Coco may be the perfect match. This adorable Shih Tzu/Dachshund mix is as sweet as they come and has a quiet, loving nature that makes her easy to adore. One of the cutest things about Coco is the way she walks—she has a little bunny-hop style that is guaranteed to make you smile. Coco is happiest simply being near her people. She loves companionship, whether it’s from humans or other dogs, and is content to quietly follow you from room to room throughout the day. She enjoys cuddling, relaxing nearby, and keeping an eye on her favorite people. While she can be a little shy when first meeting new people, it doesn’t take long for her to realize she’s safe. Once she does, she becomes incredibly trusting and affectionate. Coco gets along wonderfully with all dog-friendly dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion. However, she does not require another dog as long as her people are home frequently and able to provide the companionship she loves. This sweet girl enjoys soft treats, cozy places to nap, and having a comfortable spot where she can watch for her people. Her favorite setup is her kennel with the door left open or a soft blanket-filled box near the doorway where she can keep an eye on everything while waiting for her family to return. As part of her daily routine, coco receives eye drops in the vending and 1/2 tablet of Benadryl twice a day with a little canned food. She’s very cooperative and does well with this. Coco isn’t looking for excitement or adventure—she’s looking for love. She would thrive in a home where she can be included in daily life, receive plenty of affection, and spend her days close to the people she loves most. If you’re searching for a loyal little shadow with a heart of gold, Coco just might be the very best girl you’ve been waiting for.   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. Story
Hi everyone! I’m Lars, and I’m ready to find my very own lifelong person! ❤️ My story is a little wild—I was found as a stray behind IKEA. Apparently, even Swedish furniture stores can’t compete with my charm! Now I’m looking for someone to follow these very simple instructions: Connect Lifelong Adopter A ➡️ House/Apartment B ➡️ Add Lars ➡️ Live happily ever after. 🏡🐾 I’m a super friendly guy who warms up to most people almost immediately. I may give you a tiny little growl while I’m figuring you out, but don’t take it personally—I’m just doing my important background investigation! Once we’re acquainted, I’m ready to be your buddy. I’m a pretty easygoing guy, too. Stairs? No problem. Leash walks? I’ve got that handled. Potty training? Check! I’m trained to do my business outside and even let you know when it’s time to go. I’m currently getting along well with two resident dogs who are about my size (around 15 pounds). We don’t know yet how I feel about bigger dogs or kids, so those introductions will need to be handled thoughtfully. So, if you’re looking for a friendly little guy who is ready to leave his stray days behind and become someone’s beloved sidekick, I think we should meet. I’m Lars, and I’m ready to find my forever home! 🐶❤️
