Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. // Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $450 plus taxPhlox has been in his foster home for about a week and is settling in well. He was shy and withdrawn at first but has blossomed into a loving shadow to his foster dad. He adores cuddling on the couch and always wants to keep his people in sight. He’s still nervous around visitors and will hide until they leave. He hasn’t been around kids yet but would likely be fine with time and trust. Phlox did great during his first grooming and enjoys being brushed—especially belly rubs! He’s still fearful of leashes and hasn’t gone on a walk, but he loves playing in the yard with his foster siblings. It took a few days, but he now confidently uses stairs and the door to the yard. House training is improving but still in progress. He hasn’t been crated or cat-tested but does well when left loose in the home for short periods. He can be mischievous with items left on the floor, thinking they’re toys, so supervision and redirection are helpful. Phlox gets along well with other dogs but is still learning to share space on the bed. He’s curious about plants and has done some digging, so ongoing training is needed. He responds to “no” and is eager to please. Phlox is a sweet, affectionate pup who just needs a little time and patience to feel safe. Once he does, his loving personality shines through. * Phlox does have cherry eye which could potentially be repaired. We will know more once he is settled into his home.
