Buttercup and her sister and brother, Bubbles and Brodie were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd this year so they are 8 months old. Buttercup has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs just under 7 pounds and is probably full grown now. Buttercup is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Buttercup is a little bossy but plays great with her brother and sister. we feel like she would be fine with other dogs after getting to know them but would always want to be the boss. She would be fine with older children, and we are not sure about cats but the bossy part would be the same at first. I'm good with other dogs, especially if they like to play! I'm an expert snuggler and I will keep you warm at night by being glued to your side. I have some quirks, so I'm best around predictable people (ie no small kids or other dogs with resource guarding issues). I would LOVE a big fenced yard because I love to run, but I also do great on a leash with a harness. I'm still a little unsure about riding in the car, but I'm sure with practice I would like that more because I LOVE being around my people and getting out to meet new ones! My foster mom hasn't been able to get a read on my housetraining because there are quite a few dogs at home, but she is happy to talk about it. Overall I'm a happy go lucky guy who would fit great with another small or large dog, or even as an only dog. Let's meet! Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. She is full of personality and she is a social gal as she likes to make new friends. She does great with my other dogs as well. She also likes going for walks when the weather is nice. Hi, my name is Raisen, I am from Alabama. From his foster: Raisen adores being held and sleeping in your lap. After about a week of decompressing, his personality really began to come through. He's curious and confident, mastering the stairs quickly and fitting in easily with our 55lb resident dogs. He follows their cues, but isn't afraid to speak up if someone comes sniffing around the toy he's playing with. He even joined in with barking at the mail carrier! He had no clue why everyone was barking, but wanted to be part of the action. Raisen does sleep in his crate at night and does well with peeing on potty pads. He's about 50% there on where he decides to poop. We have not yet introduced Raisen to going outside or leash walking. From the Vet: Raisen has been staged for his heartworm disease, and at that appointment we determined he will need a few other things as well. If determined safe for anesthesia, Raisen will need a Neuter & Dental +/- a mass removal surgery either at least 2 weeks prior to starting heartworm injections OR this surgery will wait until 30-40 days after heartworm treatment. The BB Medical Team will update this portion of Raisen's bio as we get more information from his pending lab work associated with his heartworm staging and mass cytology. I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.

Nilla Bean has been in rescue for a few months now and has morphed into a great dog. She would do well as an additional dog, or could go solo. She loves to play with dogs of all sizes, and really reads the room, coaxing but never aggressive. When alone, she plays with toys, chews on a treat, or drags her bed around. She can stay alone in the house and doesn’t get into mischief. She is potty trained to go outside, and I’m currently leaving a reusable pee pad by the back door in case I miss her cues. She has used it only twice in the last two weeks. She does really well in the car, staying in the back seat in her bed. She’s ok on the leash and would probably love walks and trips to the dog park. She was on a large acreage at our farm in the country for a couple of weeks, and loved running in the yard. She currently has access to a fenced yard and isn’t an escape artist. She loves her people and has no interest in running away. She is vigilant with outside motion and sounds and can get caught up in barking at trucks and people. At this point, it’s her most challenging trait. In a quiet neighborhood she hardly barks at all. So perhaps an apartment or condo wouldn’t be the best option, although she is quite smart and I believe she could be trained. She behaves well at the groomer for nail trims but did need distractions for the job to get done. She has a beautiful thick coat of fur, and doesn’t mind below zero temps especially when there’s a squirrel to chase. She loves belly rubs and massages and snuggles as well. She hasn’t been around young children so I can’t speak to this.
