Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $600 The 16 week old Fashion Litter is turning heads at Milan's runway shows (er, the garden show at their foster home). We first met the Fashion mama at the shelter when her puppies were just five days old. With overcrowding and understaffing, the situation in there was dire; with very little attention, any number of them would've perished. We couldn't let that happen so, we took their fate into our hands and whisked mom and these precious little souls to a foster home where they could be safe and thrive. The pups' mom did a great job raising this joyful bunch, instilling them with good manners and a super-friendly nature. Now it's time for the Fashion stars to find their forever homes.  From the foster family: These gorgeous Fashion pups are an absolute joy! They arrived as newbies and have grown into such wonderful dogs who will make loving companions in their forever homes. They've been well socialized and exposed to everyday life. Family and friends, young kiddos, softball teammates, teachers, our contractors, gardeners, etc. are always delighted to see them. Super-duper friendly, these pups have brightened the day of college students studying for exams and visited companies to give "puppy love." These playful little ones are destined to become icons, just like their namesakes. Their mom is a 40-lb brindle. Don't know the dad(s). These mixed-breed pups will probably be larger than mom when fully grown, and 100% awesome! They will enjoy daily walks/runs and outings. They are a bright bunch and should make for fun training partners. They ride well in the car. They're playful with other dogs and have done fine around cats. Long legs. The pups sleep together through the night and wake up very happy and ready to play. We head outside in the yard about 7am, before having breakfast. After breakfast, a good nap is due from all the activity. Put the day on repeat with more outdoor playtime and meals. Lights out by 8:30pm. We have really enjoyed these lovebugs. When our kids come home from school, they always head straight for the front steps to have loads of snuggles and playtime. Our family will miss having these precious souls around and know their forever homes will have added a gift. Valentino (M) This dapper fella' can be found solo or in the mix and enjoys all the puppy playtime. He will explore on his own or roll in the grass with his siblings. He showed off his doggy paddle when he plopped in the pool one day. His wrinkly face gives him an endearing wise old-man look. Valentino's an optimist, as he continues to try and engage our "I-don't-like-to-play" small senior dog, convinced they will be buds one day. He loooves his people. Always friendly and so happy to see and be seen.  Our kids really enjoy him, especially nap time when he rolls on his back and nestles in. Valentino's got his own wide white fur collar, making all the snow bunnies jealous. Snuggly! Check-out the last photo on his profile - it's a video of all the pups enjoying playtime in the yard. Valentino would enjoy being a playful companion to your friendly dog or could be solo in a home where love and attention is doted on him. Adopters should have had a dog in the last five years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 6. When you adopt from DPS Rescue, you get a foster write-up from people who have lived with and cared for the dog you're adding to your family. We get to know their personalities, and can provide you with their routines, habits and insights into their nature. You'll start off on the right foot (er, paw) from day one! You're helping clear the shelters because DPS pulls great dogs from overcrowded shelters and gives them time to decompress at home and let their personalities shine through. We socialize, vaccinate, spay/neuter, feed and care for our foster dogs all along the way of getting to know them so that you can read in-depth profiles and make an informed decision. It's a lot of hard work - but worth it! Thanks for adopting from DPS and supporting the efforts of dogs finding their forever homes.July 26, 2024, 2:33 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee $600 Chanel is a young 1-2 year old gal who was found as a pregnant stray. She gave birth in the shelter a few days later. Can you imagine being in a loud, small kennel trying to care for your newborn litter? Bless her heart how she rallied to make the best of things, but between overcrowding and understaffing, the situation in there was dire; with very little attention, any number of her pups could've perished. She was a magnificent dog with a pleading look in her eyes, and we couldn't let a stereotypical fate happen, so we whisked mom and her precious little souls to a foster home where they could be safe and thrive. Chanel did a great job raising her joyful bunch and now it’s time for her to find her forever home where she can be doted on and cherished for the icon she is.  From her foster family: From the outset, Chanel was gentle and kind, allowing us to touch her babies and trusting that we were there to help her. She was thankful to be out of the shelter and after ensuring her babies were safe, allowed herself to settle in. We couldn't imagine all that she'd been through, but she transitioned like a champ. This gal is the real deal – easy to have around, mild-mannered, housetrained, sleeps through the night, rides well in the car, and considerately co-exists with our “I-don’t-play-with-dogs” senior dog.   The day’s routine consists of waking up about 7am and heading outside. We play and then have breakfast. Because she was nursing a young litter, the days were primarily spent at home, in and out of the yard (Chanel has 24/7 indoor/outdoor access). She enjoys her time outside, and will come find you in the house and lay next to you. She keeps tabs on what the family and her pups are doing. At night, she sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom. We have dogs visit, and she enjoys playing with them (it's fun to see her playful side shine through after all her hard work). Adventure outings would be of interest, or she's fine with walks and yard playtime. Can't stress enough how well she matches the energy of any given moment.  To match her winning personality, this mixed-breed gal has a naturally gorgeous brindle coat that her namesake is in awe of, and weighs in at 40 lbs. With long legs and a slender profile, she might have some whippet genes. She is full-grown.  Chanel is extremely bright and picks up training and cues easily. She learned her name in one day and seems to understand the general rambling when I tell her what we're up to that day, in a way that I haven’t seen with another dog before. She’s intuitive. She knows to stay when I tell her, like when I'm backing the car out of the driveway. Chanel has a mature personality; more serious than cutesy (though she's appreciates her fluffy flower collar bows :). Don't confuse maturity with not having energy - she is charmingly playful with us.  Chanel waits patiently when we're preparing her food and doesn’t beg. She’s curious and observant, with nice manners. Chanel takes treats with a soft mouth.  She enjoys people with polite introductions, takes an extra moment to warm up to males, and has met a variety of personalities between the family, friends, kids, contractors, and teachers who come by. We had a 45-person dinner party and she plopped herself down in the center and enjoyed a toy. She is left to freely roam the house with indoor/outdoor access, even when we're not at home, and is always respectful. Chanel appreciates considerate folks and would enjoy being someone's long-term companion. Chanel's been offered the full range of toys and there doesn't seem to be a single favorite yet (though the soft squeekers are a frequent hit :). This might be her first time having toys. She is very appreciative of all the love, dog beds, hugs and time spent with her. It breaks my heart thinking about what her life might’ve been like before. But we've assured her, her future is bright! Chanel has really blossomed in her time with us, and her adopters will be blessed with her even-keelness. You can see her gentle soul as you gaze into her eyes. We’re excited for her to explore all the goodness that life has to offer. She is incredibly deserving and has left an imprint on our hearts.  Chanel would enjoy a kind, friendly dog sibling, or could be a solo (no cats, please). Adopters should have had a dog in the last five years.  Kids in the home should be over the age of 6, with manners. Story
Are you looking for a loyal, loving companion? Look no further than Sweetpea! This adorable dog truly lives up to her name. Sweetpea might be a little shy at first, but once you earn her trust, you'll see just how affectionate and cuddly she can be. Sweetpea was found as a stray, so we don’t have much information about her past. We’re unsure of her history with other dogs or children, but her gentle nature suggests she could be a wonderful addition to any loving home. Sweetpea would thrive in a home where she can be close to her humans. If you’re looking for a furry friend who wants to be by your side and share lots of cuddles, Sweetpea is the one for you.

Story
This is a courtesy posting.  DOTTIE is in a foster home through the very full Stockton Shelter.  Please contact sspadogs@gmail.com ASAP if you could foster or would like to adopt her, saving her life. Here is this sweet girl's shelter bio: This little lady is striking with her beautiful, brindle coat. DOTTIE is about two years old and has a soul as old and sweet as her name. Dottie can be a bit nervous at first, but quickly comes to trust, and is a sweet and gentle girl happy to give kisses.  She makes our little puppy loving hearts melt. We are head over heels for this girl! Just look at her smile!  Dottie really enjoyed her doggie day out of the shelter, rode well in the car, and enjoyed wading in a stream (water dog?!) in the park.  Dottie has shown that she is house trained and crate trained in her temporary foster home(!) Dottie does need to be the only pet in the home. No dogs or cats for this girl as she prefers to be the Queen of her own castle. We’d like to add that even though she does not like other animals, she is not leash reactive as shown in the video of her walking down the kennels. We believe she’d do okay with mannerly children. This girl would make a fabulous family pet or someone’s pride and joy. Bring this girl home and enjoy all her hugs and kisses and let her melt your heart!application, home visit, adoption feeJuly 19, 2024, 12:14 am
