Story
Hero that will steal your heart faster than you can say “fetch”! Hero, the sweet Pittie, is 70 pounds of pure love wrapped in a fur coat. This gentle giant has a PhD in lap-sitting and will convince you that he’s actually a lapdog. Don’t let his size fool you - he’s as peppy and playful as his smaller friends. Here's some notes from Hero's foster: Hero is one of the sweetest, most loving dogs I’ve ever fostered. He’s affectionate, happy, and a true friend to all. A big-hearted boy with a soft soul, Hero came to Muttville after being rescued by the SF fire department. Based on his temperament and condition, I believe he was a beloved family pet. Hero adores people and gets along with dogs of all sizes. He wants nothing more than to adore you. He lives for cuddles, pets, and to give and receive kisses. He will be your #1 fan and president of your fan club. He’s a handsome boy who is loyal and dedicated to his people (and frankly, anyone who may say hello!) Did I mention the more cuddling the better? Despite being a senior, Hero’s mobility is great. He hops onto the couch or bed and can handle stairs, though a home without many would be ideal as he continues to age. Hero will do best with adopters who can continue his potty training–he's catching on that outside is the best place to go. His adopters must be willing to throw an "outdoor pee party" for a few weeks/months when Hero goes potty where he's supposed to. This pee party consists of a high reward treat and a lot of "Yeah, Hero! Good boy!" coupled with rubs and pats. He's making good progress already and loves his pee parties. He also loves his meals—eating morning and night, happily. He has shown no signs of guarding his meals, toys, or people. Hero knows basic commands like sit and shake and can catch his treaties from the air! He walks well on a leash and enjoys daily walks for all the smells and possible encounters with new friends. He takes it slow, not because he can’t trot along, just because he loves to take a pause, linger, and smell the air around him. Hero gets along well with other dogs. He’s tolerant of bouncy pups and gentle other seniors but not a fan of reactive, snappy energy—like most of us! Because of his “main character energy,” I think he’d thrive in a home with one other dog or as your one and only. Not due to any behavioral issues—just because he enjoys being the center of attention and bonding deeply with his humans. Hero has been around kids and is a total "nanny dog". He’s a gentle giant who gets excited for their attention, so mature kids are probably best but for their sake, not his. Hero has gotten used to riding in the car during his time with me. He was a bit nervous before but will now fall asleep during our drives so he's definitely good at learning new things. Hero will thrive in a calm, loving home where he can give (and receive) tons of affection. Whether it’s a small family, a couple, or a solo adopter, if you’re looking to bring in a 70 lb fan club on four paws—Hero might be your perfect match.

Some dogs shine like stars, and Pinky’s glow is something special. With her wise years and an impeccable temperament, she’s the kind of soul who can wrap herself around your heart in an instant. Whether she’s cuddled up beside you or taking a slow stroll to explore the world, she does everything with grace. That signature head tilt? Unbeatable. That loving gaze? Unmatched. She’s a fabulous lady with a heart bigger than her paws, and she’s proof that love only gets better with age. And yes, she takes belly rub payments in unlimited snuggles. Adopt this perfect pittie today! Here's some notes from her foster: Pinky is a lovely, sweet dog with a little lean to the right. Her past hard life isn’t reflected in her gentle personality. She’s very low maintenance and is happy to live the quiet life in a loving home. She likes to walk slowly and sniff widely when she goes out to do her business but is just as happy lounging all day. Head rubs and snacks (especially cheese) are gratefully and gently accepted when she isn’t napping on her large doggie bed. She never barks and doesn’t mind other dogs. She’s very hard of hearing so loud noises don’t phase her, but her eyesight seems to be fine and she likes looking over to make sure she knows where you are. She is potty trained and sleeps through the night, and can easily be left alone for several hours.

Story
Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.
