Hi everyone, I'm Ziggy! I'm a handsome 14 year old, neutered male Pit Bull Terrier and I weigh 44lbs. I'm a sweet boy that loves getting affection and cuddles. Don't let my age fool you though, I enjoy going on walks and can sometimes be a playful and silly guy, though at times I can be a bit wobbly and stairs might be a bit too tricky for me. Ziggy #A0941035 I recently went on a field trip with a PHS Volunteer! Here's how I did: Ziggy was an absolute gem to take on an outing. He loves going for walks. I took him to my car and he eagerly hopped in the backseat (although he needed a boost) and after some initial excitement whining, he quieted down and enjoyed the ride. He was very well behaved in the car; staying in the backseat without being secured. When getting out of the car, he does need a little assistance jumping down from the backseat. He enjoyed a leisurely walk on the Facebook promenade, stopping to relax in the shade, rolling on his back, itching some hard-to-reach places. He was very good with joggers and bicyclists passing by - only looking on with curiosity. When we returned to my car, he was thirsty, and drank a full bottle of water that I poured into a plastic dog bowl. Afterwards, he happily jumped into my car (again needing a boost) and quietly enjoyed the ride back to the adoption center. He is a lovely gentleman who is sweet and appreciative! Acorn was very calm in the backseat - even when we were next to a car with a dog that was barking at her. On the hike, she was a great walker. She also enjoyed the beach time, particularly the feeling of cool sand on her paws. He showed friendly interest in the other dogs and wanted to play. He also enjoyed seeing his PHS staff friends and getting treats and affection. He was pretty easy to walk on the trail. He looked for reassurance frequently and was very well behaved. He didn’t pull and was not reactive to the other dogs, bikes, runners, walkers, etc. He got a little impatient during the breaks because he was excited to keep walking. He enjoyed being close to the other shelter pups. Miklo did not show interest in water but enjoyed taking in the sights on the beach. He was a perfect gentleman on the way back to the shelter - laid down on the blanket in my backseat. Super easy to return to his dorm where I gave him some treats and cuddles. Such a loveable guy! Here's how I did: I picked up Bobby this morning for a day of adventure. He greeted me happily in his dorm. When we headed out he stalled by the staff elevator - I think he wanted to go to the office for his internship, with some encouragement I got him into my car. We took the scenic route to my house and he enjoyed the sights and smells along the way - big smile on his face the entire ride. Once at my house, we went for a long walk around the neighborhood. Bobby really enjoyed sniffing and picking up all the new scents. He was pretty easy to walk though there were moments where he stalled and needed reassurance that it’s safe to keep moving. We passed several houses with barking dogs and Bobby passed without reaction. Once we got to my house, he loved being out on the deck and enjoyed some zoomies to get the energy out. He stayed close to me most of the time and enjoyed affection. At times he was an extra large lap dog! He was great about doing his business outside. I recently spent some time in the office and here's how it went! Bobby was a very polite and helpful PHS/SPCA office intern last week. Although he often slept on the job, he welcomed staff passing by with a big tail wag, quietly played with toys, and didn’t even pay attention to the other furry intern hanging out in the hallway. At lunch time he didn’t beg or jump up on the desk to steal my food. He would also take very quick and efficient bathroom breaks outside because he was so excited to get back to his office tasks inside. Even though his good looks were a bit distracting, he was a pawfect intern and who ever decides to hire him will be very lucky!
