Story
History: Rescued as a stray by the Stanislaus County Animal Center, then saved from the euthanasia list. This shortstack would thrive in a home where she can get daily exercise, consistent training, and a mature dog to show her the ropes. She does okay with calm cats. She is untried around babies or young children, but fine around older children. Starts out timid, often sticking close to her person, but with a little patience (and a few treats) she begins to open up Then starts to gain confidence and slowly approach people or other calm dogs. She learns very quickly, including from watching or interacting with other dogs. She is learning to sit for pets or treats, but sometimes jumps in excitement. Responds well to praise and positive reinforcement (pets and treats). Walks great on leash with minimal pulling. Ball is life, she will play fetch then calmly sit with you or chew on a toy. Sleeps all night in her crate. Potty trained. Sleeps or calmly sits during car rides.

Mama Tea was rescued from the shelter with her babies and now that they are all grown up, this young gal is ready for a home of her own! Cami weighs 45 pounds and is a little low-rider linebacker ready to burst into your life with smiles! If you’re ready for a strong steeping of tea, adopt Cami. Cami is a playful, goofy gal who is ready to make the most of her forever after! This gal would be a fabulous adventure companion and she can’t wait to take on hikes and walks with you! Cami is so lovable and sweet, and those who know and love Pitties will fall madly in love with Cami instantly! Cami is super smart and clever and quickly learned all the ways to charm those around her into giving her everything she could ever want on a silver platter. She is very food motivated and has already learned a few tricks in her foster home. It’s pretty hard to say no to a smile as bright as hers, and trust us we have tried! Her tail never stops wagging and we have never seen her bright smile leave her face. She loves her toys and she loves her treats… basically she loves anything that has her name on it (and even things that don’t). Tea also loves cuddling and thinks she is a total lapdog. If you let her clamber onto the couch, she will make you her personal pillow. If you’ve been looking for a goofy and amazing new companion, you’ve met your perfect brew with Cami!  Cami wakes up at 7 AM and immediately gets her breakfast in a puzzle bowl to make sure she takes her time eating. She plays for about an hour and then enjoys her morning walk and training time. While her foster mom gets some work done, she settles with a toy until she is ready for a nap. During the afternoon, she plays and enjoys some romps in the yard. She has dinner at 5 and then heads out on an evening walk followed by cuddles. She goes out for one last potty and then heads to bed at 10 PM. She is house-trained! Tea has lived with dogs of all ages and sizes and loves them all! She would thrive with a playful companion whether human or canine. She recently went to a temporary foster who has cats in the home, and Cami was scared of them(!) so she will likely just avoid felines in the home. Cami is house trained, crate trained, and knows how to use a doggy door. She will require a home ready to continue her the great training work her foster has started (working on cues like sit, place, down, bed). Tea loves walks and is always happy to head into nature. Come and brew up your new family member today!   July 11, 2025, 8:37 pm

To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $500 ***CHOCOLATA IS A COURTESY POSTING. WE ARE HELPING SOMEONE FIND A HOME****Chocolata is an option for Foster-to-Adopt!* Meet Chocolata: A One-of-a-Kind Tripod Queen with a Heart of Gold   Chocolata may only have three legs, but don’t let that fool you— this 5 year old Pittie mix is pure power, personality, and perseverance wrapped up in a snuggly, velvety package. Rescued from the brink after being hit by a car and scheduled for euthanasia, Chocolata didn’t just survive— she thrived. She bounced around on a shattered leg with shocking resilience, and today, she's learning to live her best life as a tripod, one soft dog bed and squeaky toy at a time.   Her Day-to-Day: Chocolata starts her mornings with a long, leisurely lounge in the backyard, sunbathing, sniffing, and rolling in the grass like it’s her personal spa retreat. Around 9–10am she comes in for breakfast and curls up in a cozy chair in her foster dad’s room while he works. She’s happiest curled up near her people, and when her favorite human is around? She’s in full Velcro mode, shadowing his every step. In the evening, she gets another few hours outside before coming in for dinner and some good ol’ fashioned relaxation.   Loyal & Loving (with Opinions!) Chocolata is a true companion dog. She’ll follow you from room to room, not-so-subtly reminding you that togetherness is everything. She’s cuddly but not clingy, calm but not boring, and has a silly, playful side that shines when a squeaky chicken toy is nearby. She's a lounger by default, but she’ll happily perk up for playtime, especially with a trusted dog buddy or a game of ball.   Social Skills: She’s met both big dogs and small high-strung ones and handled herself with grace. With slow intros, she can be a great playmate. She’s been good with kids, too— polite and not overly rambunctious. Small animals like rabbits and birds? Let’s just say Chocolata thinks they’re either fun to chase or squeaky toys in disguise, so a home without pocket pets is a must.   Walks & Training: Chocolata doesn’t currently go on many walks, but in the past, she showed some leash enthusiasm—b y way of pulling toward squirrels and barking at neighborhood dogs. A home that can help her ease back into walks (or give her a big yard to explore) would be ideal. She’s housetrained, not a fan of crates (though she'll sleep in one with the door open), and is incredibly gentle with handling— whether it's pill-giving, ear cleaning, or even injections.   Special Notes: Chocolata has some allergies that flare up in certain environments, but meds like Zyrtec help keep her comfy. She may also have a mild chicken sensitivity. She’s great about taking pills from your hand and will stand calmly for meds like the brave little soldier she is.   Our Dream Home for Her: Chocolata would thrive in a home where she doesn’t have to be crated or separated from her humans. She’d love to be someone's constant companion and would do best with people who understand her need to be close to her pack. A quiet home without small animals, where she can either go on walks or safely roam a yard, would be a dream come true.   Why Chocolata? Because she’s pure heart. She’s survived more than most and still wakes up every day full of love, loyalty, and a quiet determination to be near her people. She’s a living, breathing reminder of resilience—and she’s ready to give her forever family a lifetime of cuddles, loyalty, and three-legged joy.   Adopt Chocolata. She’s not “missing” a leg—she’s just making room for more love.                    July 12, 2025, 3:56 pm
