Story
Hello! My name is Tammy and I'm a spayed, 1-year-old, pit bull that currently weighs about 47lbs. I'm a fun loving girl with a rambunctious playstyle that's ready to go, go, GO! I love to do zoomies around the yard when I'm not busy wrestling with my friends. I'm hoping for a family that has experience with bully breeds like me and has an active lifestyle. I would love to go running, hiking, and exploring with you! Since I'm such a feisty girl that's still working on impulse control and manners, I would like to be the only dog in the household so I can perfect my skills! I am also a total lovebug that's affectionate once I've had a chance to get my wiggles out. For more information about me, just ask Customer Service about Tammy! ID# A965273 I got to hang out with a staff member for a day, and this is what they had to say: Tammy is an angel sent from above! She would sit at my chair and nap or chew on her bully stick while I worked. She loved squeaking her plush toy. When I would leave and come back, she would do a tippy-tappy happy dance. She was a bit shy when some people stopped by, but once they gave her a treat she was happy as can be. Also, she's great going up/down stairs and didn’t pull on leash. Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
FOSTER CARE! Hi there! My name is Greg! I'm a neutered, 1 year old, Pit Bill/Husky mix. I'm about 55 pounds. I'm a sweet young fellow who starts off shy, but with a little time and gentle coaxing I warm up for loving pets. I'm working on my confidence, with people and dogs alike and would love to continue working on that in my forever home. If you would like to meet me, please stop on by with the whole family including any resident dogs. For more information, just ask Customer Service about about Greg ID#A958567 My Foster Family sent and update! Here's what they said: Greg is a medium-sized, mixed-breed cuddlebug currently thriving in a foster home. He’s already mostly potty trained, respectful indoors, and showing incredible resilience as he adjusts to home life. He may look like a strong, sporty guy, but inside he’s a total softie—an emotional sponge who just wants to love and be loved. His most prized rewards that light him up are pets, praise, and couch cuddle time. Whether you’re working from home or relaxing with a book, he’s happiest simply being by your side. When comfortable he also shows his goofy side. He’s doing great socially—friendly with adults, children, and other dogs—and shows wonderful potential for a well-adjusted companion. He’s still figuring out the whole “walk around the neighborhood” thing, but he’s good with open spaces and making progress daily with patience and love. Greg would do best in a home where someone values loving companionship, emotional connection, and snuggles. He’s the kind of dog who listens with his eyes, bonds deeply, and is just waiting for a forever person to snuggle with.   Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing behavior@phs-spca.org You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. Story
Hello Friends! My name is Junior, I'm a neutered, 1 and a half year old, pit bull/boxer mix who currently weighs around 62 lbs. I'm an energetic boy that loves running full speed whenever I can! I will bound right into your heart with my adorable antics and rambunctious personality. Since I am a big boy that tends to be on the exuberant side, I would do best in a home with dog-savvy kids aged 6+. I'm a smart boy that already has solid 'sit' skills, but I am still working on my leash skills (I'm just so excited). Zoomies and rope toys are my absolute faves! If you are looking for a playful, goofy new friend that can't wait to get outside and have all the fun, please stop by and say hi. Just ask Customer Service about Junior! ID# A953695 I recently went on a hike with a PHS volunteer! Here's how I did: Junior had an off-site adventure today at Robert E. Woolley State Park. When I first entered his roof dorm, he greeted me with lots of energy and jumping. Junior was willing to get into the back seat of my car, though he needed some assistance coordinating his back legs to climb all the way in. On the drive, he was calm, quietly observing and sniffing out the window. At the park, Junior handled passing bikes, joggers, and walkers very well—he showed no reaction to people approaching from behind or ahead. He seemed indifferent to all the birds we encountered, including Canadian geese grazing on the grass, crows on the ground and flying around, seagulls overhead, a heron in the lagoon, and other birds out on the bay. While he did pull toward other dogs, there were no signs of aggressive body language or vocalizations. We made one lap around the lagoon, with no hesitation crossing the inlet bridge or stepping onto the fishing pier. We spent some time on the pier watching people and the planes landing at nearby SFO. When Junior appeared restless, we left the park and went window shopping on Broadway. He pulled toward a few dogs there as well, but continued to display friendly, social body language, and I was able to maintain a safe distance. When we returned to his dorm, we ended the trip with a training session. Junior was calm, focused, and responsive during this time.  Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. FOSTER CARE! Hey there, my name is Jan! I'm a spayed, 1 year old, Pit Bill/Husky mix that weighs about 41lbs. I'm a sweet and playful little lady! I can sometimes get overwhelmed in new situations, but my happy-go-lucky personality quickly takes over. My foster care family says I absolutely love swimming in the pool and playing in the backyard! I'm still getting comfortable going for adventures out in the world, but I'm making progress. I’m now a happy hiker! My foster family has been bringing me to the shelter for some playtime and my confidence has grown! I enjoy hangouts over rough or rowdy play. I'm just a chill vibes kind of girl! I don't mind hanging out with mellow dog friends if they're well-matched, but I'm also ok being an only child and getting all your love. If you're looking for a cuddly pup, a pool lounging buddy or a walking companion, I could be your girl! For more information about me, just ask Customer Service about Jan ID#A 958569 Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing behavior@phs-spca.org You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance. My foster family thinks I'm great! Here's what they said: Jan is such a sweetie pie!! It has been a delight to watch her go from such a painfully scared and shy pup to the more confident fur face she is today. She was so scared of everything initially. She is still getting used to all the sights and sounds of city life, but she has come a long way. She just needs time and patience until she 'gets it'! She loves to play with squeaky toys, balls, and treat filled kongs. But she is also happy to sit near or on you to get bottomless belly rubs. And while she has you close, she loves to give and get kisses! Jan is pretty quiet. We've only heard her bark a couple of times and she once howled! She is also surprisingly vocal when tumbling around with her BFF Bubba! Jan is quite the gardener! She is especially skilled at digging holes!! She is getting much better at neighborhood walks. She occasionally still stops and tries to retreat but a gentle tug of the leash and some 'good girl' encouragement and she is back on track! On park trials she is a bit better. She now takes the time to sniff all the good smells. Jan will make a loyal and loving friend to some lucky person!  Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
You must be 18 or older to submit a profile.  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads.
