Story
Animal Profile: Talia is an estimated 2-year-old, 42 lb spayed female who joined us along with her three siblings on 1/13/23 from Texas. She is dog friendly and good with people. We'd like to see her go to a home with a securely fenced yard. These pups were listed as Great Pyrenees mixes, but DNA testing revealed they are Pit Bull, Husky, German Shepherd, Chow Chow and Malamute, with a few other breeds in the mix. True Texas Mutts -- one of our favorite breeds. Foster Update: Talia is a social butterfly in our home, moving between dogs and humans. She is playful, goofy, joyful, creative and smart. She loves to go for active, long walks and short runs – but also enjoys quiet time. She loves to sleep in between me and my husband on the bed and is very quiet while sleeping. She will rest her head on your lap – looking for a connection. She is athletic and bouncy – like Tigger. She is easy to train and is very flexible. She lives with a male and female dog and is drama free with them. She shares toys, food, bones, beds – and anything else. She is affectionate toward them and is able to keep them both calm. She has been fostered with a dog-savvy 4-year-old for a few days with success.  Talia is leash trained, crate trained, and potty trained. Commands she knows include sit, lie down and heel. She is quiet in the home and rarely barks. She likes being outside – but also loves being an indoor dog.  She has a high prey-drive for things like squirrels and rabbits. She takes about a day to warm up to a new family, but after that she is good to go. She can easily hop a 6-foot fence, so care should be taken to keep an eye on her when bringing her home initially. She generally is not seeking to run, but has hopped out after squirrels, and when she got to her new temporary foster home. She has been to very crowded areas like coffee shops and Home Depot. She does okay, but gets a little nervous. She will generally lie down and stay quiet in that scenario. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from our rescue partner in Texas and arriving to Seattle area foster care on 1/13/23. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated.July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Animal Proflile: Miss Peaches was found wandering in freezing temps in Toppenish WA just after Christmas and a good samaratin took her in. The eastern WA shelters were full and had no space for her so this family took care of her until they could find placement with rescue; she's now in foster care with Dog Gone Seattle. She is crate trained and friendly meeting people and dogs. She has lived with other dogs and done well even with grumpy older dogs. She is friendly to other dogs on and off leash. She adored the 14 year old in her finder's home but has not been around younger children. She has not been evaluated with cats. She is still a puppy and likes to chew but prefers dog toys. She likes to snuggle and likes belly rubs.  Foster Updates:  This girl is precocious, fun loving and energetic. She's been a wonderful house-guest. She is crate and potty trained and would love a family to call her own! Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $550, which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was found as a stray in Toppenish WA on 12/27/24, vetted thru Yakima Valley Humane Society and transferred to DGS foster care on 5/15/2024. She will be available for adoption to the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.  July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Animal Proflie: Orca is an estimated 1.5 year old 40 lb female lab mix who was found wandering in freezing temps in Moses Lake WA. Orca is friendly meeting people. She is a little awkward and unsure but not reactive or aggressive meeting new dogs, and would likely benefit from having a friendly resident dog in the home. She has lived with two other dogs and is left in the house loose with the other dogs with no issue when the humans are not home; she is now house-trained and crate trained. She has been exposed to dogs and kids and done well with all. She has not been tested with cats. She is a bit unsure in new environments and will need a patient home that can help guide her and continue her training.  Foster Update: Orca is a super sweet girl. She loves to give kisses and get attention from her people. She’s good with basic commands that include sit, stay, come, go to bed, and in the crate (which was new to her). She’s not destructive and I’m sure would be fine alone outside of the crate.  In the beginning she was very timid and scared on walks. She seems much more comfortable now with the city sights and sounds, although she still shies away from buses and trucks or other big and loud vehicles. She’s generally friendly with other people, although she's usually shy about saying hello. She’s curious but unsure about other dogs and she’s also usually fine to just walk on by. She'd likely do well living with other dogs as she has previously. Her leash walking is a work in progress and she'll need continued training on that. Her young dog energy is starting to appear now and she’s much more energetic on walks. She has done well hiking and would probably be a good running buddy! She likes to do zoomies outside in the yard and jumps up when excited and wants to play, so that's something we’re working on.  Adoption Info: Orca's adoption fee is $550, which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Orca was found as a stray in Moses Lake in January 2024; she was microchipped and had been adopted thru Grant County Animal Outreach but apparently the adopters had dumped her in freezing temps. The finders kept her until she could be transferred to rescue. DGS accepted her in May 2024 and she will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care. July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Hi!  My name is Leo!  I am about 5 years old, and I am ball obsessed!  Ball is life!  I was living on the streets when a rescue took me in, a great guy adopted me, but he had some health issues, so I am back at a foster home looking for my forever home. Like I said I LOVE BALLS, anything round is my jam and will play with them (and you) for hours.  I have not always gotten along with other dogs, but I am working on that with a trainer and am learning that other dogs don't always want to hurt me.  I walk very well on a leash and am getting 'heel' down.  I also love the art of the snuggle.  I have to say I have mastered it and would gladly educate a new owner. I am hoping to land in the Portland area, as the trainer has offered 3 FREE lessons with me and my new owner, so they learn all the cool stuff I have been working on!! If you feel I may be a fit for your home or just would like to meet me to see, hit up my foster mom, Lelsie Butkovich 503-989-0464July 25, 2024, 11:21 pm

Story
If you're a fan of high energy and silly pups, we've got a great one here for you! Wick is a handsome 1-year-old brindle pitbull mix with loads of personality and charm. He is very friendly and makes fast friends with everyone he meets. Plus, he's spunky, athletic, and smart. Wick is as special as they come! Wick has done well with the dogs he's met and is super playful. We strongly suggest he goes home with another active, playful dog to help burn off some of his energy and enrich his days! We don't know if he's ever met cats. Any introductions to resident pets should be done slowly. Wick is looking for a dog experienced home with just teens (16+) and adults. Wick is not a fit for an apartment or condo and would love a large, fenced back yard. If you're ready to amp up the energy and cuteness in your life, make an adoption appointment to meet Wick today! Wick's adoption fee is waived in thanks to a generous donor and our Pay it Forward program.#playful #dogcompatible
