Story
Animal Profile: Talia is an estimated 2-year-old, 42 lb spayed female who joined us along with her three siblings on 1/13/23 from Texas. She is dog friendly and good with people. We'd like to see her go to a home with a securely fenced yard. These pups were listed as Great Pyrenees mixes, but DNA testing revealed they are Pit Bull, Husky, German Shepherd, Chow Chow and Malamute, with a few other breeds in the mix. True Texas Mutts -- one of our favorite breeds. Foster Update: Talia is a social butterfly in our home, moving between dogs and humans. She is playful, goofy, joyful, creative and smart. She loves to go for active, long walks and short runs – but also enjoys quiet time. She loves to sleep in between me and my husband on the bed and is very quiet while sleeping. She will rest her head on your lap – looking for a connection. She is athletic and bouncy – like Tigger. She is easy to train and is very flexible. She lives with a male and female dog and is drama free with them. She shares toys, food, bones, beds – and anything else. She is affectionate toward them and is able to keep them both calm. She has been fostered with a dog-savvy 4-year-old for a few days with success.  Talia is leash trained, crate trained, and potty trained. Commands she knows include sit, lie down and heel. She is quiet in the home and rarely barks. She likes being outside – but also loves being an indoor dog.  She has a high prey-drive for things like squirrels and rabbits. She takes about a day to warm up to a new family, but after that she is good to go. She can easily hop a 6-foot fence, so care should be taken to keep an eye on her when bringing her home initially. She generally is not seeking to run, but has hopped out after squirrels, and when she got to her new temporary foster home. She has been to very crowded areas like coffee shops and Home Depot. She does okay, but gets a little nervous. She will generally lie down and stay quiet in that scenario. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from our rescue partner in Texas and arriving to Seattle area foster care on 1/13/23. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated.May 5, 2024, 12:50 am

Story
Animal Profile: Buddy is an estimated 10-12 month old, 60 lb neutered male bully breed mix who was picked up as a stray and rescued from San Bernardino city shelter. At the shelter he was evaluated to be friendly with people and in playgroups with dogs of all sizes and genders. He has been in a temp foster home awaiting transport; they report Buddy is a total doll, good with dogs of all sizes including obnoxious little dogs, good in the crate, and even-tempered. We look forward to getting to know him in foster care.  Foster Update Buddy is a wonderful dog. He’s incredibly sweet, affectionate and loves snuggling. He’s also super goofy and loves playing with toys and playing fetch; sometimes he plays fetch by himself by launching his toys with his mouth! After walks or playing, he’ll happily snooze for several hours. He is AMAZING with all dogs big and small, and is pretty submissive when playing. He is great at giving my older dog space when she is not in the mood to play. He’s crate trained though sometimes does bark when we are gone, but this is becoming less and less frequent. He can sometimes be timid around new people but warms up quickly (and this is also improving every day). His leash manners need a little improving when he is walked with another dog, but does well when one-on-one. He hasn’t been kid or cat tested.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from Angels of Rawley in California, originally pulled from San Bernadino City Shelter and arriving to Seattle on Sunday 1/7/24. He will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.May 5, 2024, 12:50 am

Story
Animal Profile: Poe is an estimated 9-month-old, 33 lb male mixed breed (the shelter aged him at 5 months but he has all his adult teeth and we think he is closer to 9 months). He was a stray intake to the Caddo Parish shelter and despite his friendly temperament and ideal size, he was overlooked again and again. Poe is social and friendly with other dogs.  Foster Update: Poe is such a special boy. He is a happy-go-lucky pup full of playful and affectionate energy. He’s settled in quickly with his foster family and does well with the resident dog and cat. Poe sleeps soundly in his crate and will put himself in during the day for naps after tuckering out. He’s a bit of a goofball and smiles a lot. He’s super smart and with the right structure and committed leadership he is capable of learning so much. He already has a fair amount of basics down (sit, wait, come and kennel). Poe does great in the car and is pretty good on leash and happy to be wherever his people are. He’s a really great dog with so much love to give! 4/22/24 Update: Poe is currently living in a home with multiple dogs and young kids; he happily goes on adventures with volunteers such as hiking or trip to local breweries. Poe will alert when new people come to the home but is social and friendly meeting people. Poe needs a person who will create boundaries in the beginning or else he will test treating humans like his dog playmates with jumping and mouthing. Once he knows the rules he's quite happy to comply. He loves to run and wrestle with other dogs but reads social cues from dogs who do not want to play with him. We'd like to see him in a home with a resident energetic and tolerant canine companion. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from Caddo Parish animal shelter in Shreveport Louisiana and arrived in Seattle via Tail Lights Rescue Project on March 4, 2024. May 5, 2024, 12:50 am

Story
Animal Profile: Diesel is 2-year-old 54 lb lanky bully breed mix who originally came from Caddo Parish Louisiana -- adopted as a puppy and returned two years later due to divorce. Diesel has gone to doggy daycare at Bonafide Dog Ranch and does well off leash with other dogs. He is not leash reactive but has not lived with another dog recently -- dog introduction included for potential adopters. We don't recommend cats. Diesel has lived with young kids and loved them. He is crate trained, house trained and knows basic obedience. True to his guardian breed he can be protective of the house particularly if he thinks that's his job. He would do best with a large dog savvy owner comfortable being a good leader for a large powerful breed.  Diesel loves to cuddle and play with toys, and has a goofy personality. He would like to have his own yard for running and playing. He warms up quickly to new people and -- like all dogs -- thrives with boundaries and leadership.  Foster Update:   What a dreamboat- good with kids, good with dogs, doesn't chew non-toy things around the house, hangs out in his crate with the door open... the list goes on. He walks well on the leash, though sometimes struggles with impulsivity when there is a crow, a cat, or a squirrel within reach. He's friendly to everyone, but he'll bark at strangers in the house if he's crated and can't say hello. In the short time he's been here, we've gone on a picnic in a park and to a busy brewery. Everyone he's met so far has been impressed . He's an athletic pup with soft fur and legs for days. He enjoys jumping on things- people, counters, and once I found him perched on a little table in the backyard! We're working on that. He'll play ball forever if you let him, though ignoring him results in a destroyed tennis ball that he will still bring to you to throw. He responds well to corrections, and is relatively food-motivated. He can be pretty vocal (e.g. barks when he's happy, or wants to get out of the crate, or when people walk by the backyard), and can get the mad zoomies, so probably would do best in a house with a securely-fenced yard. He’s got the sad puppy eyes down pat, but don’t let them fool you! He’s a happy guy with lots of love, and licks, to give! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: Diesel fka Almond joined us in March 2022 from Caddo Parish shelter in Shreveport LA, was fostered as a 9-week-old puppy and adopted to a family who owned him for two plus years before returning him to the rescue due to divorce. He lived briefly with two young boys in his home. He is currently being fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption after decompression and evaluation.  May 5, 2024, 12:50 am

Story
Hi!  My name is Leo!  I am about 5 years old, and I am ball obsessed!  Ball is life!  I was living on the streets when a rescue took me in, a great guy adopted me, but he had some health issues, so I am back at a foster home looking for my forever home. Like I said I LOVE BALLS, anything round is my jam and will play with them (and you) for hours.  I have not always gotten along with other dogs, but I am working on that with a trainer and am learning that other dogs don't always want to hurt me.  I walk very well on a leash and am getting 'heel' down.  I also love the art of the snuggle.  I have to say I have mastered it and would gladly educate a new owner. I am hoping to land in the Portland area, as the trainer has offered 3 FREE lessons with me and my new owner, so they learn all the cool stuff I have been working on!! If you feel I may be a fit for your home or just would like to meet me to see, hit up my foster mom, Lelsie Butkovich 503-989-0464May 3, 2024, 5:21 pm
