She’s not quite a low-rider, but she’s pretty dang close, and totally owns her compact, lovable build. At just about two years old, Maple has the perfect mix of youthful energy and grown-up sweetness. Foster Profile:   Maple is a sweet, affectionate girl who enjoys cuddles, playtime, and goofing around. Animal Profile: Skillet was adopted from DGS in March of 2025 and is a 2.5-year-old bully breed mix with a big heart and even bigger enthusiasm for life. She’s friendly with people and absolutely loves to play, but her joyful, ruff-and-tumble play style can be a bit much for more reserved dogs. Unfortunately, this has made it difficult for her to thrive in her current home, as the resident dog is uncomfortable with her exuberance. With additional family moving in with cats (which Skillet is not compatible with), the difficult decision was made to rehome her so she can have her needs fully met. Skillet has foundational training and is both house-trained and crate-trained. She recently underwent TPLO surgery and is recovering beautifully. While she would happily play with every dog she meets, Skillet has that classic “bull in a china shop” body awareness and her playful style isn’t for everyone! Because of this, she would do best with a bully-breed-savvy family, either as an only dog or with a well-matched, balanced dog. Skillet has not lived with children, but due to her high energy and enthusiasm, we recommend a home with older kids only. With the right environment, guidance, and understanding, Skillet will make a fun, loving, and loyal companion. Whitaker was pulled from a city animal control facility with his sister at a very young age. They were picked up as strays very skinny and not well cared for. His sister was adopted right away but he is still waiting for his furever home. He is an exceptionally sweet and loving boy that has never meet a stranger or an enemy. He loves being a couch potato but also can have high energy when it's needed. This kid is extremely agile and athletic..... perfect for a hiking/ running partner or doggie parkour! LOL. He has been in a foster home for almost a year so is accustomed to being in a home environment. He knows commands, is potty trained, kennel trained and not destructive and absolutely loves kids.

It absolutely breaks my heart to say this, but we are needing to find our velvet hippo a new home. This is Oreo. He's just over 4 years old, I was told he's full pitty but honestly don't believe it. He's a great dog, but my son's special needs have escalated to the point they arent safe together. He's full of energy and needs someone who can keep him active and stimulated a lot. He does have some trauma and can react with hostility, particularly with aggressive dogs or the vet. Trainer says all of it is fixable with time and dedication. If you have any questions please let me know. No rehoming fees or anything, we just want to find him a safe home where he can be the happy-go-lucky puppy he deserves. Thank you.

We don’t know what happened to his mom or if he and his brother were the only ones to survive, but Forrest is resilient with a heart full of joy. Forrest is a happy and playful boy who’s adjusting well to life in a home. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and people. He lives in a foster home with cats but he gets very excited wanting to play when he sees them so he accidentally scares the cats. While he’s gentle and kind, we recommend a home with older kids, as his youthful energy might accidentally knock over toddlers. He's a big wiggle-butt, a very happy boy! She has guardian-breed tendencies and will need a breed-savvy owner who's able to provide appropriate leadership. She is loyal to her family and loves to snuggle. Her absolute favorite joy in life is Ball! She enjoys playing with other dogs but requires a human who can supervise and advocate for appropriate interactions or she is prone to bullying behavior. She is currently being fostered in a home with two other dogs and is crate-trained, house-trained, and has basic obedience training. She will benefit from structure, leadership, and ongoing training. We will do another TPLO for her with adoption interest.  Animal History:  Penny and her siblings were a surprise litter - their mother was adopted from a local family when she was unknowingly pregnant, so he got much more than he bargained for when she had puppies soon after her adoption. Penny was born on 12/09/22; one of the littermates was  DNA tested and so presumably all littermates are  75% English Bulldog, 12.5% German Shepherd, 12.5% Rhodesian Ridgeback. As puppies, these dogs were playful and engaging. Penny was adopted as a puppy to a family who was not prepared for the tendencies of this breed combination. Without any formal training, she developed territorial behaviors in the home and on walks that ultimately led the family to return her to the rescue.
