Meet Kodiak — Your Loyal Little Shadow!
If you’ve been searching for a calm, devoted companion who will quietly steal your heart, Kodiak might just be the perfect dog.
At 3 years old and 30 pounds, this handsome Aussiedoodle is the ideal medium size — big enough for adventure, small enough to fit perfectly on the couch beside you (which is exactly where he’d like to be). Kodiak is fully housetrained, non-destructive, and wonderfully low energy. He sleeps peacefully through the night and settles beautifully during the day. Yes… he might truly be that unicorn dog.
Kodiak is gentle, sweet-natured, and gets along well with other dogs. While he may be a little shy and timid when first meeting new people and four-legged friends, it doesn’t take long before his warm heart shines through. Once he knows you, he becomes your fast friend and loyal shadow — happiest simply being by your side.
Kodiak thrives on routine and structure and will quickly mesh into your daily rhythm. Whether that’s quiet mornings with coffee, peaceful evening walks, or relaxed weekends at home, Kodiak will be right there with you.
Despite a difficult past, Kodiak is incredibly brave. He doesn’t let yesterday define him — instead, he chooses to learn, trust, and embrace the beautiful life ahead of him. Watching his confidence grow is truly something special.
Kodiak is currently working on mastering his leash skills and is making wonderful progress on every walk. Even amongst city noises, he is learning to ignore the distractions. With a little patience and encouragement, he’ll continue blossoming into the confident companion he’s meant to be.
Kodiak is dog-friendly and would be perfectly fine in a home with dog siblings or as an only dog. He is a versatile and would be okay in an urban or suburban environment.
Kodiak isn’t looking for chaos or constant excitement — he’s looking for his family. A loving home, a steady routine, and someone who sees the quiet magic in a sensitive soul.
If you’re ready for a loyal best friend who will cherish you every single day, Kodiak is ready to meet you!
Kodiak is being fostered in Manhattan, NY. His adoption fee is $600.
Kodiak is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
