Siren is a calm, gentle, quiet girl who joined us from rural Kentucky. It appeared she had had very little human interaction when joining BAARK last year, but with time and patience, she has come out of her shell and has become a little more confident….but does have a ways to go. Siren is definitely a Mix Breed, possibly a Beagle-Heeler, with other breeds sprinkled in! She’s an estimated 32 lbs. born in January of 2021. This sweet girl enjoys the company of other dogs in her foster home, but prefers calm dogs. She can become startled by loud noises and quick movement but as her confident continues to grow, such things will likely not bother her. Siren is most likely to thrive in a quieter household consisting of adults. But older children, respectful of animals, would be good for Siren as well. She’d really enjoy the companionship of a calm, possibly older dog too. A secure fenced yard is also a plus. Siren is up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is believed to be housebroken as well. Meet Lilly a sweet, gentle Beagle/Hound who joined us a few months ago, along with two of her sisters, all confiscated from a hoarding situation. She is just over a year old (est DOB 12-05-2023) and weighs about 28 lbs. In her foster home, Lilly is working on her social skills and, learning to become a dog! She enjoys playing with other dogs, and prefers to be with dogs, over people. Lilly may be ok with older children (over age 12) But she especially enjoys being with another dog. Lilly is looking to become part of a family that is patient, compassionate, and loving, and to living her best life in an environment that is calm and not overly hectic. Beagle/hound experience is a big plus. Because she enjoys being outside, a secure fenced (above ground) yard is very important to her. Lilly is not disposed to being an apartment dweller or living in a condo. She likes to bark and such environments would not be appropriate for her. Lilly is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. Boogie is living in a foster home! Please submit an application from our website and email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to see if you're a match! Six-year-old Boogie has had an interesting journey! She was originally adopted from us in 2019. Then, she was surrendered to another shelter in the city this year and the form cited life changing circumstances beyond the adopter's control. We know she must have been devastated to give Boogie up. Thankfully, when Boogie's microchip was scanned, the shelter realized she was a Heartland dog, so we immediately scooped her up! We knew about her behavior in a home from the form her precious adopter filled out, stating that she was good with dogs and children and has no behavioral or health concerns. Boogie had been in a home practically all her life, so we made sure that Boogie went straight to a foster home. There, we have been learning even more about this perfect girl as she adjusts! She had a couple of accidents at first, but once she learned where to go in her new digs, she has not had another accident. She does well free roaming with the foster's resident dog, and has overall been a joy to have! Below is what Boogie's foster mom had to share about her! "Boogie was a little shy at first, but it didn’t last long. She has settled in quickly. She’s a very happy girl, likes walks, snuggles on the couch, morning stretches, belly rubs and playtime in the yard with Bourbon. She walks great on a leash, does great when home alone, has eaten everything I have given her and doesn’t really bark at all. She does well with all sizes of dogs and I imagine she would be wonderful with kids as well. Boogie is pint sized perfection!" Boogie would be a perfect addition to any home. She is a great age and perfectly petite 26 lbs. If you are interested, inquire today before she boogies on out with someone else! Boogie's adoption fee is $375. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

Zina is a precious pup, possibly a petite Beagle-Basset Mix. She weighs just 28 lbs, small for a Basset! She is estimated to be 8 – 9 years old. She had spent several months at an area Animal Control Facility with zero interest, so we at BAARK agreed to transfer her to our program, expecting that she’d get more visibility, interest, and hopefully that forever home that she so deserves. Zina enjoyed the holidays with her foster family! She loves people and immediately engages with them. She is outgoing, playful, and good with other dogs (we do not know about cats). She is also fine with children who have been taught to be respectful of dogs. Zina is an absolutely perfect girl. She is up to date on all veterinary care, including vaccinations, and heartworm testing. She is on year-round heartworm preventative, is spayed and microchipped. Zina is housebroken. Story
While Buddy may look like a Black Lab at first glance, his short body makes it very clear he’s a Bassedor!! He is a precious boy embracing the characteristics of a Labrador and a Bassett. He is thought to be about 6 or so years old, is playful and active but, he also likes to relax and cuddle. Buddy enjoys the company of other dogs and loves playing with them. He likes toys as well but mostly healthy (safe) chew bones. He loves to being with his special person (people) and enjoys car rides too. Buddy is very adaptable and an overall perfect dog….except, typical of a hound, he likes to share his opinions especially when he wants to eat or go for a drive, or simply wants attention. Buddy does have a bit of a loud bark, so apartment or condo living would not be suitable for him. This personable pup is about 38 lbs, is housebroken, ok with older children. He would surely enjoy having a canine companion in his new family and also a secure fenced yard to run and play. He also wants a family who will allow him to sleep in bed with a human!! Buddy attends occasionally to socialize with friends. He’s fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round preventative, neutered and microchipped. He is housebroken.
