Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. My name is Danny and did you know they wrote a song about me? I was really amazed when I found that out!! Do you want to sing it with me? "Oh Danny Boy....The pipes, the pipes are calling...... What? It talks about flowers dying and gulp, ...people dying? Yuck, I don't want that song written about me anymore! What? It was written a long time before I was born? Whew!! Glad it isn't about me! I am way too young to think about all that dying stuff. Now that that is settled and out of the way, do you want to write a song about me? You can start it with....Danny boy is a happy happy boy!! And he loves his mommy!! You can write the next line for us, ok? That is all I can think of off the top of my head. Speaking of heads, I have a tricolored face and the rest of me is pretty nice looking as well. My hair is a little longer than some of my siblings so that must be part of the labby hairy-age showing, but I have the finer bones of the beagle part of my history. I am a typical puppy, love to play, eat, play, sleep and poo and start all over again. I love to play with stuffed animals, chewy toys and anything that is within my vision and reach. Meet the cutest gal on the block with the best smile, Lucinda! Lu is a 4.5 year old hound, boxer mix who loves her people, including kids, and is full of exuberance. She is also only a medium girl at 45 lbs— the perfect size in our eyes! She came into rescue at 6 months old & was adopted, but was returned 3 years later because the adopter was having a baby. Sweet Lucinda did nothing wrong, & she’s looking for a forever, loving family this time around!    Lucinda loves playing with energetic dog friends after slow meets & is working on manners (she can get a tad bit excited for some hehe)! Kaycee is a 12 year old beagle mix who weighs about 25 lbs. She is the sweetest girl and is great with kids, dogs, & cats! Kaycee came to SAAP after her owner passed away, so she’d love a family that she can live the rest of her life with. She is house and crate trained. She is very low energy and loves to snooze most of the day.    Kaycee’s only medical issue is that she has some spinal compression and a herniated disc. At her age and with her not being in pain, the vet doesn’t recommend surgery. She can still get around fine (a little wobbly, but she manages!) We have been trying to find a wheelchair that fits her. When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis is alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 50# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! Midge is a very gentle Basset Hound and Chinese Shar pei mix looking for a forever home. She was taken in from a bad hoarding situation and is now doing living in a REAL foster home with other happy and loved friends and food and medical care too!! I am learning everyday what it means to be man's best friend and it is pretty sweet :) Midge came to the rescue with little hair and skin infections and entropion on both eyes (meaning her eyelashes were scraping her eyes every minute of every day..... think about how miserable it is to have ONE eyelash in your eye ;( and STILL a sweet and loving personality, despite how she was physically. The rescue fixed all my stuff up and now I have gorgeous, shiny and thick black fur and my eyes don't hurt anymore!!! She would be best in a home with another calm and confident dog.
