Meet Simba! He is almost 3 years old and is a Peagle, which is a beagle and a Pekingese. Some dogs take a really special person (with a lot of dog experience) and Simba is such a dog. Simba has some history of behavior problems, and is looking for his forever home that will love him and help him become the dog he can be. To be very clear : he does have a bite history with his previous family, and is only a candidate for an experienced adopter. He has resource guarding issues that need to be addressed. While he DOES get along with other dogs in casual interactions and loves to play - he will also guard what he believes is “HIS” - his toys, bones, food, bed, crate from other dogs as well as people. We are happy to share that he has had no bites since moving to his current foster home 8 months ago, where proper precautions and an environment was created to work with his issues. Simba does have a senior friend named Denver, he is a beagle mix as well. Denver is a dog's dog and doesn't much care for people, so if you are up to the challenge, Denver would love a home with Simba to call his own, for the time he has left! Simba's new home will be required to have a yard, as well as no children or cats. Lola is a 5 month old beagle mix who’s about 25 pounds of sweetness. She came from a shelter in South Carolina and has been nothing but loving since she arrived. She gives the softest kisses and enjoys being close. She gets along well with other dogs and has an easygoing way about her. Hello Humans! My name is BJ, and I am a very overweight Beagle mix, about 6.5 years old, weighing 74 pounds when I should weigh about 35-40. I was having a good life in San Antonio, Texas, with my owner and my senior doggy housemate, Poppy, but unfortunately, our owner passed away. We moved in with relatives until a rescue could be found, and we are now in a foster home for 4 Little Paws Rescue, and are looking for forever homes. I am a VERY sweet and friendly boy who was being WAY over-fed by home-help aides while my owner was in hospice. I hear that I basically look like a big Twinkie on legs, but I have not lost my ability or willingness to go for walks on a leash. I just need to take some resting breaks along the way, but my enthusiasm is palpable. While at home with nothing to do and bored, I am a total couch potato. I enjoy a bit of playtime with Poppy, and she’s quite the trooper, weighing in at only 17 lbs. Otherwise, I am friendly with other dogs, but not playful with them, and I truly don't care for the “in-your-face” type of dog. I would be best either by myself or with another calm senior dog or lazy dog housemate. I am very affectionate, loving pets and sharing kisses, and I am a very well-behaved boy. I never bark, and I am fully housebroken. I think it's a given that I love doggy treats, but I’m not too interested in doggy toys. I am hoping for a healthier life with someone interested in helping me turn things around, go for more walks, eat healthier snacks, or no snacks at all, so I can have more energy and a more handsome physique than resembling a Twinkie, LOL! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT.
