Meet Simba! He is almost 3 years old and is a Peagle, which is a beagle and a Pekingese. Some dogs take a really special person (with a lot of dog experience) and Simba is such a dog. Simba has some history of behavior problems, and is looking for his forever home that will love him and help him become the dog he can be. To be very clear : he does have a bite history with his previous family, and is only a candidate for an experienced adopter. He has resource guarding issues that need to be addressed. While he DOES get along with other dogs in casual interactions and loves to play - he will also guard what he believes is “HIS” - his toys, bones, food, bed, crate from other dogs as well as people. We are happy to share that he has had no bites since moving to his current foster home 8 months ago, where proper precautions and an environment was created to work with his issues. Simba does have a senior friend named Denver, he is a beagle mix as well. Denver is a dog's dog and doesn't much care for people, so if you are up to the challenge, Denver would love a home with Simba to call his own, for the time he has left! Simba's new home will be required to have a yard, as well as no children or cats. My name is Dusty! I am 6 to 7 years old and 30 lbs. I am a mature adult that is easy to have around! I am low maintenance, friendly and really enjoying the comforts of a real home. I was found wandering around a college campus in Texas. Prior to that, someone told the rescue I was kept outside and never really got to experience the joys of heat, A/C, a dog bed, safety from animals outside and just some peace and quiet. Since coming here, I have soaked it all up. I am so appreciative of my cushy surroundings that I spend a lot of my day hanging out on my amazing bed, snoozing, looking out the window, sitting next to my humans, asking for pets, grazing on my food and just basking in the comforts of the indoor life. I enjoy short strolls and bird watching. I have no desire to venture far from my new found haven. When I am in "hunting mode," I don't even pull, I just hang out and stare :). I am also housebroken and while I am fine in a crate, I really don't need it! I am dog friendly but I don't need them either. I would be great as an only and probably prefer it now that I have had it. It would be super fun to have my own space and people after all I have endured. Older kids would be best for me or an adult family home. I don't need chaos! We aren't sure on cats but I am pretty chill... PS - I have an impressive side eye! I am located in NJ. I bought Freckles along with her brother, Snoopy, back in late September, from a private breeder in Orange County, NY. They were both born on 07/09/2025. These are two beautiful healthy and highly energetic purebreed beagle puppies who are extremely friendly and playful. Unfortunately, my job situation has recently changed, and I'm fining it difficult to keep up with expenses for their vet bills, food, and regular maintenance, and to provide the personal attention they very much need.. I haven't had a chance to get them properly house-trained. I'm looking to have her rehomed to a better place where she can receive all the love and affection she deserves. Fully vaccinated. I have records of all her vaccinations.
