We received a call for help, this person had more then 20 animals on his property, adults and puppies he needed food and to get the girls fixed. A local spay/neuter clinic helped with spay/neuter, rabies and heartworm testing. All the adults were taken back to the owner and he is given dog food to help with feeding them. We were able to take in some of the young pups, had them heartworm tested (which was negative) spay/neutered all vaccines and microchipped. We took the puppies hoping they would be heartworm negative and they are. Since having them here we have had to work with them to learn to trust us, at first they will be a little nervous but give them time and they will fill your heart. Meet Mollie! 🐶💕She was rescued from a Mass Dog Slaughterhouse with other 101 friends at the end of July. Mollie may need help to learn how to behave in a home environment. At first, Mollie did not know how to eat treats. She now even chews a lubber mat in the bottom of her cage. 😊 She always lays her head on the top of her feeding bowl and patiently waits for her kibble. Do you know how cute Mollie is when she peeks out from her cage to see the outside world? It is her signature pose! 🐶❣️ Even though Mollie is energetic, she was so scared when she first stepped out from her cage. She even had to be carried from her first walk since she was frozen during her walk. But now? She eagerly waits for her walking time with a volunteer and explores the nature. If she senses that the volunteer is exhausted, she takes a break from walking and waits for the volunteer to be re-energized. How sweet our Mollie is! 🐕 With a black magic cape she is wearing, Mollie would steal your heart right away. She is ready for any and all adventures ahead of her. Talk about two happy pups !!!!! These boys are sooooo sweet and lovable. They are about 4 years old and have been bounced around a lot during their short lives. After being adopted from a shelter in the South they spent two years w their family. During the pandemic their family struggled a lot. The boys didn’t get a lot of walks and put on weight. The family later surrendered them back to the shelter. We brought them to START II to give them another chance to find a permanent loving home. Aside from a little extra weight ,which they are already losing , they are in good health. Both neutered and up to date on vaccines. They will make an amazing addition to your family !!! Sweet Otis and Milo came all the way from Virginia approximately 2 months ago from a high kill shelter. Their family struggled through the pandemic and Otis and Milo found themselves surrendered to the shelter in Virginia. Every day we learn how wonderful and sweet they really are. Otis and Milo are a bonded pair. We do not know if they are brothers but one never really knows. These two handsome males are pure Beagles, great with other dogs and would love children and adults of all ages. They bark at the cats, however they do nothing else. Best bet is they should go to a cat free home. They are mostly housebroken and just love to play and run and both have a good amount of energy so a fenced in yard is needed for these two little guys. Beagles are tracking dogs and will follow a scent no matter where it leads them. Be on the lookout for wildlife in the yard as they will chase any strange animal!
