Story
Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. I can't wait to meet you and start this exciting new chapter together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Hi. I'm Hermosa. My name means darling or beautiful. Boy, did my foster dad know what he was talking about when he gave me that name. You see, I am a beautiful female beagle mix. I was found wandering the streets by my foster dad with my 3 month old son, Pedro. I am approximately 20 pounds and a few years old. I am fairly energetic and love to play and go on walks. Foster dad says I am friendly to everyone I encounter. Foster dad even thinks I would be good with children. I do, however, have a tendency to chase cats. I also have been known to dig in the yard if I am bored and left unattended for long periods of time. I have been a great mother to Pedro but foster dad says those days are over! Foster dad says it may be hard to adopt us together since many folks are looking for a singleton. A girl can dream thought, right? We came into the rescue together after enduring hard times and we would love to leave together. If that isn't possible, we understand but please consider the advantages of having two. Double the pleasure and double the trouble! Enough about Pedro and I. How about you? Are you open to adding some adventure? If so, have your peeps call my peeps and we will get this love fest started. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Missy came to Midwest BREW with a lot of extra weight which caused trouble breathing, or doing much of anything for that matter.  After lots of figuring out meds, TLC with lots of time to adjust, losing weight, and recovering, she is such a happy girl now. No more meds except thyroid every day, prescription food, (which she loves), and treats are carrots and apples (which she also loves!).  Missy will be a perfect companion. She is always close by, never on your lap or in the bed, but by your feet or at the foot of the bed.  She is very housebroken, you can't miss the signs when she needs to go out and she is good on a leash, or in a crate (not necessary, as she can be left alone in the house with no problem).  She has been an "only child" for now, but she likes other dogs, but doesn't like the neighborhood feral cat.  A mellow, calm home would be ideal for Missy...she makes a great friend and companion! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Meet Doug, an exceedingly handsome blue tick beagle boy! Doug is an easy-going guy who loves to cuddle and hang with his favorite human. He also is good with other dogs and would enjoy a buddy and playmate. He walks well on a leash, doesn’t pull, but does stop often to smell. He’s also a wonderful traveler and has gone on several day-long car trips with no problem. Doug does have mild separation anxiety, but once he feels comfortable with his home and schedule, he feels better. He does bark when he is first left alone though, so apartment living is most likely not the best for him. Do you need a shadow? If so, Doug fits the bill. He’s got lots of love to give! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Meet Abby and Merlin. They are best friends and they would love nothing more than to find a furever home where they can be together. Abby is a 29-pound, six years old girl. She came to Midwest BREW after surgery for 2 “cherry eyes”. Unfortunately, she required a second surgery to repair the damage. But as you can tell, she recovered marvelously and she now has the most beautiful eyes. Abby has learned the “sit” command. Of course, there are usually treats involved. She does bark some but when you call her name and ask her to ”stop” she will comply most times. She gets really excited when the harness comes out to go in the car. She will look out the window until she gets tired then just lies down and naps. Abby is house-trained and will sit by the door when she needs to go out. She has never been crated and she does well left alone for up to four hours. We take her to the local Farmer’s Market and does great meeting new people. She loves to lie in the sun. Abby was diagnosed with Lyme disease and will complete her medication by mid-August. Merlin is a timid, fun-loving guy. He’s 8 years old and 27 pounds of pure sweetness. He is very timid and he is most comfortable when he is with Abby. He loves being outside focusing on new scents with Abby and enjoys wrestling and doing zoomies with her. They often lie together inside and outside. When he is not with Abby, you can find him on his foster dad’s lap. Merlin loves car rides and will lie down and nap with Abby in the car. He does well on a leash with minimal pulling. He always wants to sleep with his people in the big bed even though Abby is sleeping in the dog bed or out on the couch. Merlin was also positive for Lyme disease and completed his treatment recently. He is being treated for a corneal ulcer in his right eye and doing very well. Abby and Merlin are a playful pair. If you have room in your heart and home, you will be getting 2 very loveable dogs. Please let your Midwest BREW adoption counselor know if you would like to know more about these two wonderful dogs. NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Sally is a beautiful 10-year-old Lemon Beagle. Sally's journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and she is now ready to embark on the path toward finding her forever home.  Sweet Sally came to Midwest BREW when her previous owner passed away. After spending several months in her foster home, Sally has regained her spirit and zest for life. She adores her humans while still maintaining an independent nature. Sally was recently diagnosed with a low-grade mast cell tumor which she had removed, although clean margins were not fully achieved. Her age became a determining factor in opting out of chemotherapy, but she has another great treatment plan in place to give her the best shot at achieving remission.  Sally is on a 6-month prednisone taper (currently on her 3 rd month), accompanied by Benadryl and Pepcid, a protocol that has shown incredible success in helping dogs like her achieve remission. Sally has been excellent with my 6-year-old granddaughter and gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home, although she can occasionally be possessive. She prefers to sleep in her own bed but seeks comfort from her human during thunderstorms or fireworks. She is a calm and relaxed girl, enjoys car rides and walks gracefully on a leash, and doesn't try to escape from her harness. If you're searching for a beautiful companion with ears like butter, don't hesitate to reach out and speak with her foster mom about Sally. She's ready to bring joy and love into your home. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
