Story
Melly is just a huge love bug. He adores cuddling in warm, cozy spots and wants all the affection you can give. He’s an old soul who thrives on close companionship. Melly is wonderful with children, but he needs a calm, peaceful household at this stage of life.He likes to stay within eyesight and will experience separation anxiety when left alone. Preferably someone who works from home and can take him everywhere, as he CANNOT be left alone due to his separation anxiety. Another dog in the home would likely keep him calm and give companionship for the potential of leaving him. He’s fully house- and crate-trained. Melly has a history of Lyme disease, so his joints occasionally bother him—especially during cold or rainy weather—but he manages well with love and proper care.Melly is gun shy and CANNOT be used as a hunting dog.PLEASE SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY!

Story
Meet Buddy – Your Future Shadow & Sunshine Seeker Buddy is a 2-year-old neutered beagle mix with the cutest short stack, lowrider build and big, floppy ears (mostly decorative… for now ). He’s still learning that the world is a safe place, so what he really needs is a patient, understanding family who will give him the time and space to come out of his shell. Buddy may be shy at first, but once he trusts you, he’ll greet you with a wagging tail like you’ve been gone forever—even if it’s only been a few minutes. He didn’t know much at first about the joys of being a happy indoor dog, but now he is following around his adult foster dog sister - looking to her for guidance and learning from her. Watching him slowly open up has been incredibly rewarding for his foster pawrents. About Buddy:     •     2-year-old male beagle mix (neutered)     •     Loves tossing his toys and playing outside. Evening zoomies become a normal part of the routine once he settles in.      •     Professional sunbather—will follow the sunshine around the house     •     Walks well on a leash     •     Excellent squirrel alert system (he takes this job very seriously)     •     Enjoys running around the yard and playing chase with his foster sister  Training & Progress:     •    Crate trained overnight (sleeps ~8 hours with no accidents!)     •    Still building confidence going into the crate independently. He will let you know that he does not enjoy the crate, but after some vocal protesting, he settles down.      •    Learning house training—does best with a consistent routine. Like any young pup, he will need a family committed to furthering his training to work on reducing accidents.     •    Making great progress warming up slowly to his environment and eager to keep learning at his own pace Personality & Needs: Buddy is a sensitive soul who startles easily, especially with anything new, loud noises or thunderstorms. Because of this, he would do best in a calm home without children. He thrives with routine and gentle guidance. He would do well in a home with another patient canine companion to keep teaching Buddy “how to dog”. He enjoys high energy, playful, rough-and-tumble play (lots of open-mouth wrestling!), but he takes corrections well and reads other dogs appropriately.   Buddy’s Ideal Home:     •    Patient, calm adopters willing to move at his pace and dedicate time to working with him on house training and basic commands     •    A predictable routine to help him feel secure     •    A home without children     •    Another friendly dog would be a huge bonus (Because he takes time to trust, a slow introduction and allowing Buddy to have his own separate space at first is highly recommended) Buddy isn’t the kind of dog who will be instantly outgoing—but if you’re willing to give him the time he needs, you’ll gain a deeply loyal companion who will quietly steal your heart. If you’re looking for a sweet, sensitive pup to grow with, Buddy might just be your guy   ##2706965##

Story
WAYLON 1 year Attributes: Dog friendly Shy Crate trained Low energy House trained Requires a fence Meet Waylon Waylon is a 1½-year-old, 22-pound beagle boy with the softest heart and the sweetest soul. He was found loose in Indiana and spent several months in a shelter. He is fearful and shy when meeting new people. He will bond very strongly to a female and would thrive with someone who wants a loyal little shadow. Waylon is crate trained and also potty trained using a dog door. He gets along well with our 3 beagles and is a true couch potato at heart. He enjoys quietly playing with his toys and chewing on his Nyla bones before curling up beside "his person." Waylon would do best in a quiet, female-only household with a secure 6-foot wooded fenced yard. Another calm dog could help him continue building confidence. He needs someone patient and gentle who wants to continue his training and socialization building. If you have a peaceful home, a kind heart, and room on your couch, Waylon may be your perfect match. 💙 NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

TREE BUD (Male) DOB: 1/31/26 Attributes Dog friendly Playful Snuggly Working on housetraining Crate trained Not best for apartments High energy Looking for a new best friend, then Tree Bud is the pup for you. Bud is the most adventurous of the trio with a warm heart and a strong personality. He is very smart having learned "sit", "off" and "no". He is a cuddle bug and loves being with people and other dogs. Bud loves to play, and be outside but he also likes being close to his people. He definitely has the beagle trait for food and is very food driven, but this makes his training easier as he will do anything for a treat. Bud is 90% house-broken, he knows to go outside but sometimes his excitement will lead to an accident, very impressive for a puppy. A funny thing about him is when he is hyper you can pick him up and he melts into calmness. Bud is 100% crate trained and sleeps through the night in his crate. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). ---------------------------- Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
