Story
Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. I can't wait to meet you and start this exciting new chapter together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Payday is the best day of the week! Something to look forward to and will always give you that warm, fuzzy feeling. Luckily, with me, you don't have to wait long. I'll be right at your side FULL! SPEED! AHEAD! Payday is also a candy bar with lots of nuts. I think I was named after that one because I'm NUTS too! Not the puppy making kind though, those nuts are long gone. I'm NUTS like kooky, silly, crazy! I have a lot of energy and love to zooooom, wrestle with my puppy pals, and will still play with toys even when I'm alone. I would love an active home to keep me busy and out of mischief. Even though my name is Payday, foster mom calls me THE FLEA...how rude. She says because I'm small, dark, and I can JUMP way higher than you think these short legs would launch me. Yes, I jump A LOT. Small children, beware. 3-4 foot fences, NO PROBLEM! I may have that "low-rider look, but that doesn't hold me back from getting where I want to go. Foster mom is trying to teach me not to jump so much and also not to rush out the door. I just want adventure! While I am learning new skills, I already have a lot of training down pact. I am fine in a crate and am house trained. I also do well on a leash and in the car. All the better to take me down the road for a pup cup or out to the country for a nice, fun hike. If you love PAYDAY, whether it's the day of the week or the candy bar, I'm here and READY FOR YOU! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ORVILLE, PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE TO READ ABOUT THE PROCESS AND FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. www.furkidrescue.org Orville was rescued by a good Samaritan in Arkansas, when he was founded at an abandoned home. He was underweight, covered in fleas and ticks, and very weak. Once we got him to our vet we found that he was anemic, the fleas had sucked all of his blood. He is also heartworm positive, and he’s started the beginning of heartworm treatment. He’s feeling so much better and is on the path to good health! Orville is feeling better now, and his personality has started to show. He shows signs of being abused. He is not going to be a good first dog for someone, and he will need someone who’s dog savvy, and will give him space to settle in his environment.

Story
My husband surprised me with our dog Bruno 7 years ago when we lived in Los Angeles. At the time, we had 2 cats and another dog. He gets along well with both cats and dogs but outside of the household, needs to get used to other dogs. When we rescued him, we were told he was already an older dog but do not think that was the case. I am guestimating he is now around 11 years old but still has the energy of a younger dog. We had a fenced in yard and was able to let him roam outside as well as regular walks. However, we recently had twins, relocated and do not have the time to give him the outdoor activity or attention he needs. He is very friendly and cuddly and just needs someone who can play with him and give him the space he needs to roam.

Story
Margo is a very sweet and playful 5 year old female Beagle. She was rescued from a hoarding situation a few years ago. Spayed and up to date on vaccines. She is great with kids and will do best in a single dog household. A perfect dog if you are looking for a true companion. She will love you until the end of time. Please note that Margo has severe separation anxiety, especially during transitional periods. She is fine for me now, but she would need someone who knows how to handle dogs with this issue. I do not recommend a multi-dog household, as she has tried to bite other dogs. I have not tested her out with cats. She is not crate-trained. She is mostly house-trained as long as she stays on schedule. I am traveling quite a bit for work and cannot spend the time and attention on her that she deserves. She would need to be with someone who is home most of the day. No adoption fee. She just needs to go to a loving home.

Story
Laszlo is a loyal and sweet companion. He loves playing fetch, enjoys walking as much as possible, and is very clever and surprisingly strong for his small size. Laszlo is 6 years old, and was adoption from a shelter 2 years ago. While I don't know much about his history prior to this, it doesn't appear to have been a very good one. We've had a positive experience with him taking to myself (female) and my partner (male), as well as our other younger dog. While I've appreciated my time with Laszlo, I have not been able to provide him with the assistance he needs with his separation anxiety, high alertness, and reactivity and aggression towards unfamiliar people and animals that he perceives to be on his property. Laszlo would be best suited with an experienced dog owner, not living in an apartment, who is able to invest time working with him. Disclaimer: In 2024 Laszlo was reported for biting someone in our apartment complex when he got off his leash.

Story
When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis is alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 50# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! I am ready when you are, do your stuff so we can ride off into the sunset, in air conditioning, of course! Story
Midge is a very gentle Basset Hound and Chinese Shar pei mix looking for a forever home. She was taken in from a bad hoarding situation and is now doing living in a REAL foster home with other happy and loved friends and food and medical care too!! I am learning everyday what it means to be man's best friend and it is pretty sweet :) Midge came to the rescue with little hair and skin infections and entropion on both eyes (meaning her eyelashes were scraping her eyes every minute of every day..... think about how miserable it is to have ONE eyelash in your eye ;( and STILL a sweet and loving personality, despite how she was physically. The rescue fixed all my stuff up and now I have gorgeous, shiny and thick black fur and my eyes don't hurt anymore!!! She would be best in a home with another calm and confident dog. No food issues, couchy potato in training!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
