Uncle Sam was surrendered to the shelter on April 15th. The only problem the owner had with him was that he chased cats and chickens. He is a beagle, approximately 3yrs old, and 26lbs. He's a petite little guy! Super friendly and gentle. Good with other dogs and kids.  ##2019760##

Story
Charlie is a very handsome 6-year-old beagle boy searching for his forever home. He loves his humans and enjoys getting attention from his foster mom. He is housetrained, loves car rides, potties in his fenced yard and during his walks. He follows the lead from the other dogs in his foster home. During walks he is very curious about any wildlife smells. He has a high prey drive and will try to climb over the fence. Charlie’s new home will require a very secure fence and close supervision when in the yard. Charlie would do best in a home where he is the only dog. Because of his high prey drive, he will need a home with no cats. Charlie is a very loving medium energy dog and will make the perfect addition for the right home. Contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor if you would like to know more about Charlie. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hi there, it is me, Benny Beagle. I have been bounced around a couple of homes since my mom got sick, I am now ready to find my permanent furever home. My foster parents say I am pretty smart. I know sit, down, and will get on the couch and lie down when told. I can be loud at moments, but foster dad makes me either come to him and sit and be a quiet boy, or come into the house when called. I like to tell other dogs that I see them going by. I like to chase stuffed toys or shake them all around. I will try to play with my foster brother but I can play rough and he quits. I am like a kid, I play, then time for a nap. I did get beat up in a previous home by a big dog so watch me around the bigger ones. I have done well with my house training. I have been crated while everyone is gone and do fine in it, but I have also been good being left out. I ride okay in the car. I am excited at first, but then lay down on the back seat. They tether me otherwise I would want to help drive. Walks, wellllll… I walk like a typical beagle, pull, go different ways, LOL. I am a stout strong boy so you do need to hold on tight. I also like to tell everyone I go by that I am here!! I do love attention. Foster Mom and Dad say my one bad habit is I want to get in your face and kiss you, a lot. They make me sit and hold me in that position and then give me pets and love. I would LOVE to sleep in bed with you. I sleep in a crate here as the big bed is my foster brother’s spot. I would probably be best as an only dog as I love to get all the attention and will push in sometimes. But I do get along well with my foster brother. A fenced yard please, as I like to go in and out a bunch and run around. No young kids as I can be jumpy and being a little bigger and stronger I might knock them down. And sometimes while playing with toys I can be mouthy. So, if you want a loving companion ask about me, Benny beagle. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Toby is a 1 and 1/2-year-old ginger beagle.  He is very energetic and needs lots of exercise.  He would do best as the only dog.  He does play with the other dogs in the house but likes to be the alpha male and on occasion has growled at the other foster dog.  He likes attention.  He loves his toys and treats.  This handsome beagle is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and get plenty of exercise. Story
This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! At five months old, she’s all puppy and is a bit klutzy as she’s still growing. Once she gets her sea legs, though, she’d make a great companion for an avid walker or runner. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. She does well in a crate at night and is mostly housetrained with a doggy door, although she still has the occasional accident. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor, or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet, and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Story
PAPRIKA - DOB 2/18/24 This is Paprika, a unique and wonderful Beagle mix.  Paprika was born in foster care, so we have the complete scoop on him. DNA revealed 52% Beagle, 30% Shiba Inu, and 16% Australian Cattle Dog with a smidgen of Border Collie and German Shepherd.  What does all that add up to?  Medium-sized (some people think Shibas, Cattle Dogs, and Borders are large, but they are not) floppy-eared, curly-tailed, spunky, smart puppies. Paprika IS 90% housetrained with a doggy door and sleeps through the night. He loves the outdoors and is a very gentle boy unless he is at play with his litter or other dogs. Then he's tough, oh, okay he THINKS he's tough, and quite the barker, that beagle DNA comes WAY out in his howl. Although Paprika seems mild-mannered, he has been first with everything. First to be born, first to open eyes, to walk, first to and first to nudge his way through the garden fencing.  He doesn't brag about it but he is quietly ahead of the pack. Unique is the best word for him...fill out an application and find out if this "best boy" is for you! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
