Story
Meet Doug, an exceedingly handsome blue tick beagle boy! Doug is an easy-going guy who loves to cuddle and hang with his favorite human. He also is good with other dogs and would enjoy a buddy and playmate. He walks well on a leash, doesn’t pull, but does stop often to smell. He’s also a wonderful traveler and has gone on several day-long car trips with no problem. Doug does have mild separation anxiety, but once he feels comfortable with his home and schedule, he feels better. He does bark when he is first left alone though, so apartment living is most likely not the best for him. Do you need a shadow? If so, Doug fits the bill. He’s got lots of love to give! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Meet Abby and Merlin. They are best friends and they would love nothing more than to find a furever home where they can be together. Abby is a 29-pound, six years old girl. She came to Midwest BREW after surgery for 2 “cherry eyes”. Unfortunately, she required a second surgery to repair the damage. But as you can tell, she recovered marvelously and she now has the most beautiful eyes. Abby has learned the “sit” command. Of course, there are usually treats involved. She does bark some but when you call her name and ask her to ”stop” she will comply most times. She gets really excited when the harness comes out to go in the car. She will look out the window until she gets tired then just lies down and naps. Abby is house-trained and will sit by the door when she needs to go out. She has never been crated and she does well left alone for up to four hours. We take her to the local Farmer’s Market and does great meeting new people. She loves to lie in the sun. Abby was diagnosed with Lyme disease and will complete her medication by mid-August. Merlin is a timid, fun-loving guy. He’s 8 years old and 27 pounds of pure sweetness. He is very timid and he is most comfortable when he is with Abby. He loves being outside focusing on new scents with Abby and enjoys wrestling and doing zoomies with her. They often lie together inside and outside. When he is not with Abby, you can find him on his foster dad’s lap. Merlin loves car rides and will lie down and nap with Abby in the car. He does well on a leash with minimal pulling. He always wants to sleep with his people in the big bed even though Abby is sleeping in the dog bed or out on the couch. Merlin was also positive for Lyme disease and completed his treatment recently. He is being treated for a corneal ulcer in his right eye and doing very well. Abby and Merlin are a playful pair. If you have room in your heart and home, you will be getting 2 very loveable dogs. Please let your Midwest BREW adoption counselor know if you would like to know more about these two wonderful dogs. NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Clover is a 1-2-year-old sweet energetic hound. No DNA testing has been done, but she carries the physical and behavioral traits of a Treeing walker coonhound. She likes to walk 2-3 times a day and then runs beside foster Dad's bicycle for her 2-3-mile evening outing. She is good with cats and other dogs in the neighborhood and the dog park. Has been gentle with the small children she has met. She is quite timid around strangers but will be her sweet self with familiarity. Like most hounds, she needs to be on a leash while walking and have access to a fenced-in area for off-leash running and exploring. She went camping with her foster parents and did really well. Was not vocal to other dogs or humans in the campground. She loves riding in the car. When not on a walk, she is content to rest in her crate where she also sleeps at night. She is quiet unless she catches a scent and then gives that famous hound bay. She will sit by the door when she needs to go out but is on a pretty good schedule for potty breaks. Will potty while on the leash. She is a very gentle and sweet girl. If you think you are the right family for Clover, please contact your Midwest BREW counselor for more information. Story
Hi, I’m Tulip! I am 12 years young, weigh 31 lbs, and am almost definitely a beagle mix based on my coloring and body type. My coat is extremely soft, though being a bit older, I do have a couple of benign moles/skin tags. The vet says I am overall a very healthy girl! I am housetrained, walk nicely on a leash, and ride well in the car. I know some commands, too, including sit, lay, and shake/paw. I am a barker, but I just want to alert you to the things I see and hear. I especially enjoy watching out the windows. I love to snuggle and I sleep in the human bed at night (though I’m being trained to go to the foot instead of the pillows). I am always the last to finish eating, so my foster parents separate me from the other dogs at mealtime. Food is also the only thing my foster parents have ever heard me growl about, though I want to emphasize that I have never shown aggression. I met a cat once but wasn’t interested. I will, however, run after squirrels that come into the yard. I can get a little jealous of the other dogs in the house when they get attention, but I enjoy their companionship. I also get free run of the house when the humans are gone. My foster parents say I am a wonderful dog, and my future family will be so lucky to have me! Story
Meet Scooter, an adorable 8-year-old beagle boy, once a stray, is now looking for his forever home. He weighs 25 lbs, with short bowed legs which we think gives him a unique and adorable appearance. Although he is smaller, he's densely packed with so much love. You will frequently find him climbing into your lap to be upfront and close to your face to give you soft kisses.  Scooter is super easygoing and fits in great with all other dogs. He has the beagle bark many of us beagle lovers appreciate. He has been on multiple car rides ranging from a few minutes to 3 hours and does well. He has mastered the use of a doggy door and is housetrained.  He enjoys the simple things in life – tasty treats, walks, and following his humans around the house. He brings a smile to everyone's face. Even though he has a heart condition, Scooter remains an active and happy dog. He takes his daily meds like a champ and absolutely adores peanut butter and neck scratches. With his age, he seems to have some decline in hearing and vision but even so, he still functions independently each day.  If you're searching for a sweet, older Beagle who's all about love and companionship, Scooter is the one for you.  NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
This gorgeous gal with long legs and supermodel good looks is Chloe, a 4-month-old beagle mix. Chloe’s mother was a beabull (a cross between a beagle and an English bulldog) from what we understand, but we’re not sure about her father. Chloe was born in a shelter and adopted out. However, she turned out to be too energetic for her owner, so she is now in a foster home, waiting to find her new family. At 23 pounds, Chloe is the perfect size for snuggling with you on the couch or in your favorite chair. When it’s time to go to sleep, she makes the perfect bedtime companion and will gladly curl up next to you in bed. Chloe likes to make her opinions known, so apartment living isn’t for her! She’s looking for a family where someone is home most of the time or that has another dog as she does have some separation anxiety. Because she’s still a young dog, she sometimes jumps up when she gets excited, so she would be best suited to a family with older children. Chloe is housebroken for the most part if kept on a regular schedule, and she would love a fenced yard where she could run and play. Car rides are no problem for Chloe – she does well in the car, and she hopes her next car ride is to her new home! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor, or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet, and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
