Story
Toby is a 1 and 1/2-year-old ginger beagle.  He is very energetic and needs lots of exercise.  He would do best as the only dog.  He does play with the other dogs in the house but likes to be the alpha male and on occasion has growled at the other foster dog.  He likes attention.  He loves his toys and treats.  This handsome beagle is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and get plenty of exercise. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
AVALON Likes some other dogs Housetrained Crate trained Needs a fence High energy This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! At 7 months old and 35 pounds, Avalon is all puppy and is still growing. She’d make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker or runner or an active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor, or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet, and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Story
PEPPA DOB: 11/3/2023 Attributes Dog friendly Housetrained Crate trained Will potty on leash Likes car rides High energy Hi! My name is Peppa, I am 7 months old and full of energetic fun. There are a few toys I really like but mostly I like to run and play chase with the dogs at daycare. I would love a forever home with a big backyard and/or an active family to run with. My foster mom says I walk well on a leash, but y’all know no straight lines with my beagle nose to the ground. The only thing I love more than going for a walk is riding in the car… my ears flapping in the breeze. It’s glorious! I flash my big smile to everyone we pass but don’t worry, I don’t bark too much and never get sick. As you can see by my long legs, I’m taller than the average beagle and weigh about 33 pounds. DNA tests say I’m a beagle/ boxer/ terrier mix though you won’t hear me bay the classic Arrrooo. I love everyone and get so excited when I see people that I tend to jump on them, so I will need more training with this. Foster mom has been helping me with sit, stay, and all the usual tricks. I’ll do anything for a treat and belly rub. If you think I’m the girl of your dreams, contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor or fill in your adoption application today! Story
DELILAH Attributes Dog friendly Crate trained Good in car Working on housetraining High energy Hi I’m Delilah a mixed beagle with a heart of gold and an attitude that won’t quit.   My motto is to play hard and sleep hard.  I’m 95% housebroken but I get the “lazies” and will not go outside sometimes. It’s best to keep me on a schedule. I’m really good on a schedule. I know the commands: sit, no, stop, off, go potty, and house.   I am almost 5 months old now and weigh 15 pounds.  I will probably be on the short side but no promises. I love to play and cuddle with humans and furry friends.  When I’m on my own I like to go to my crate and relax or find a sunny spot.  I’m going through all the usual puppy phases and will need to keep working on training.  I would make an awesome addition to your family. MAYBUG Attributes Dog friendly Playful Likes cats Requires a fence Not best for apartments Adult only home preferred Housetrained High energy Hi, I'm Maybug!  I'm a sweet little girl full of energy! I love being outside to run and having a playmate who wants to run with me.  I also like staying out and sleeping in the sun on nice days. I am very prey driven and the smell of a critter in the yard brings out the beagle in me!  If I catch sight of an animal, I do like to let out the beagle bark and will sniff and search the grounds for a long time! A fenced yard will be a must! I do have a fear of people that I've made a great amount of progress with. When excited, I will go in to be petted, but other times I may need my space. I'd do better in a quiet home and some loud noises do still frighten me.  Adult-only, or children who understand I need low key environment would be best. I am well housetrained and have been left out when my foster parents leave without issue.  I do love to have a lot of stuffed toys to play with! Even though I'm fearful, having someone around the majority of the time has been a great help and I follow my foster parents wherever they go in the house and sleep next to my foster Dad's desk as he works. At night, I may hide when my parents get ready for bed, but as soon as they are in bed, I have my bed next to theirs that I sleep in. I get along great with the other animals in the house. Currently, I play all day with another 2-year-old beagle and love it. Having someone my age and playfulness has been a great thing for me! The other dogs in the house are older, and I leave them alone when they don't show interest in playing. I also have tried to get the cats to play, but when they don't want to, I also leave them. If you're looking for a sweet girl with lots of energy who will just need some patience to settle in, I could be the one. Contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor to learn more about me! Story
LITTLE MAN Attributes Dog Friendly Playful Requires a Fence Will Potty on Leash Housetrained Medium Energy Crate Trained Little Man is a delightful small beagle, 24 pounds and approximately 2 years old. He has that distinctive dark coloring, and expressive brown eyebrows with black and brown spots on his white nose and legs. He enjoys wandering and romping in the fenced yard, with much sniffing. He likes people – men and women, our grandchildren and adults. And he really likes dogs. Little Man and our very energetic 35-pound resident beagle tumble together in the yard and do zoomies around the yard. Little Man settled in right away – met the resident beagle on equal terms and holds his own in “conversations” about who gets to sit where and play with which toy. In a very short time, they have become friends and grateful for each other’s company when the adults are away. When left alone, Little Man whines a bit at the start, and yaps when we return, but otherwise settles down. Occasionally, we return to find a remote on the floor. Little Man likes peanut butter kongs, and all food, and does a wonderful happy dance when his food bowl or treats appear. He is very gentle when taking treats – and likes to reach for them, or just nibble them from the floor. He barks rarely and we have not heard the beagle aroo. He enjoys being around his humans and snuggling by our sides, in our laps, or on a chair we recently vacated. He gives kisses and rolls on his back for belly rubs. When he is not snuggling, he can be entertainingly mischievous. He’ll hide toys in places the resident dog can’t crawl to or grab a slipper and look at us slyly. His special accomplishment is to open the screen door with his paw and quickly get his head in the opening. He does this for himself and our resident beagle – who has no understanding of the technique. Little Man is not crated during the day and has the run of the house. He sleeps in a crate at night. He hasn’t had any accidents and potties in the yard but prefers to potty on leash walks. When he arrived, he seemed unacquainted with leash walks but very quickly learned to enjoy them. He likes to sniff and meet other dogs, as beagles do. He does fine on car rides. He’s a bit hesitant about getting in the car but once there, he settles right down, We think Little Man will do best in a home with a fenced yard, another dog, and humans who want to play. We do not have a cat and don’t know how he’d do with them. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
