IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ORVILLE, PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE TO READ ABOUT THE PROCESS AND FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. www.furkidrescue.org Orville was rescued by a good Samaritan in Arkansas, when he was founded at an abandoned home. He was underweight, covered in fleas and ticks, and very weak. Once we got him to our vet we found that he was anemic, the fleas had sucked all of his blood. He is also heartworm positive, and he’s started the beginning of heartworm treatment. He’s feeling so much better and is on the path to good health! Orville is feeling better now, and his personality has started to show. He shows signs of being abused. He is not going to be a good first dog for someone, and he will need someone who’s dog savvy, and will give him space to settle in his environment.

Story
Hello to any hound dog or beagle fans ... My name is Picker. I am approx a 3 year old, neutered, male weighing about 25-30lbs (so not too big at all). Happy to share a little bit about me ... Things I LUV - laying in my doggie bed brings me such joy (see attached picture ). I love dogs, cats and all humans I meet, even the little ones.  In fact, I love little humans ... I am gentle as can be with them and will simply follow them around when given the opportunity. I'm doing well on a leash with just a bit of pulling, so some little extra help here if you are willing is appreciated. I love my walks because there is just so much to smell and see! I also have learned to quietly sleep in a crate at night and while my foster mom is away from home.  So yes, I am crate trained!  I do enjoy sleeping out of my crate at night too - I just thought I'd mention that so you know I am very well behaved. I am housebroken too but just need you to be diligent in helping me master that skill to perfection if you don't mind! So, if you help to remind me to go potty and consistently take me out regularly, I do pretty good with my potty training skills!  So here is the kicker about Picker that you must know and maybe that is why I haven't found my furever home yet  - I suffer from focal seizures.  Not anything that stops me from living my best life but I just want you to know I may be considered a "special needs dog" even though I really don't have any real special needs other than someone to understand, I do suffer from them on occasion.  I have only had a few while with my foster momma and they are not sure why.  We do know that my foster momma heard my sibling (male also) suffers from them also so it may be a genetic thing but no one really knows for sure! So, they have diagnosed me with epilepsy. I'm not afraid of the seizures, in fact, I don't even know when they happen.  So, if you are not scared, I'm not either and we can go on living a happy life together ... well if you give me a chance that is. Other than the seizures, I am pretty perfect ... Honestly, even with the seizures, my foster momma says I am perfect!!  In fact, she calls me Perfect Picker! And that makes me happy but what would make me most happy would be to find my forever home ... soon!  So please ... pick me, pick Perfect Picker if you are looking for a gentle laid back hound dog to join your family!   ##1912969##

Story
Hi everyone, my name is Atlas! I just turned three years old and am a happy, healthy, good-lucky boy. I am a lab/min pin/beagle mix and I weigh about 30 pounds.  I am potty trained, walk on a leash with a gentle leader, and know basic commands like sit, stay, and shake. I am neutered and fully up to date on my shots. I am also crate trained but would do a lot better if I wasn’t crated.  I am looking for a new home because my current family says they cannot give me what I need to be fulfilled and want me to have a home that will bring out the best in me. I am a highly active dog and need someone who can match that energy! Is that someone you?!  I do sometimes get anxious, and I get extremely excited when I see other dogs, people, wildlife! You name it, and if I see it, I'm gonna bark and bark to say hello! I also get separation anxiety some and I take prozac for that.  When I get sufficient exercise/stimulation, I love to come home and cuddle!  In my new home, I will need a fenced in yard, with lots of room to run around and play fetch. I get along well with both dogs and cats and loveee to play! I’m not experienced with young kids, but would probably do really well with older kids, especially if they match my energy! I am an intelligent dog that needs proper, steady training that fits my needs!  I am truly a beautiful and wonderful dog, I just need more resources and time given to me to help shape me into the best pup I can possibly be! If you are interested in adopting me, please submit an application from crossyourpaws.com and submit an application!     KLN 16814 We are a 501c3 % volunteer based rescue and rely solely on donations. Story
Meet Rebel, he is a 7 year old beagle / chihuahua mix weighing about 20 lbs. Don't let his age fool you, he is a high energy little guy who would love a yard to run and play! But at the end of the day, he's the perfect lap dog who loves to snuggle. Rebel is known to resource guard high value items like food and toys from other dogs. Poor Rebel has had lots of change, after living outside with several other dogs, he's protective of what is his, he is worried that he will lose it again! He's waiting for a forever family that will be patient with him and reassure him that he and his heart are loved & secure. Rebel would do best in an adult only home. He does play well with other dogs and would be most successful with dog friends in food and toy free environments. He keeps his kennel fairly clean but we cannot be sure if he is housebroken. Rebel will make a great companion for the right person. His adoption fee includes neuter, vaccines, and microchip. He's tested negative on heartworm & lyme. All he needs now is you! Story
Lucy is a beautiful, young red and black tri-color Beagle. I believe she had a very rough start to her young life and she had a challenging time during her first weeks of adjusting to life as a foster in our home. She was extremely fearful of us but seemed to gain her confidence by following our dogs around. But with time, patience, a thunder shirt, and a lot of love she learned to trust people again and started approaching us for attention. She has been around other dogs and people and did very well. She has had some children pet her and she was fine. She’s very curious about our cat but does not bother her. She looks forward to her meals now and eats without being fearful. She exhibited extreme anxiety in a closed crate so we let her choose where she sleeps. Sometimes she will sleep in a crate with the door open but she seems to prefer the dog bed at night and for naps. She caught on to the doggie door quickly and has had very few accidents. Her separation anxiety is much better and we usually leave each dog with a frozen Kong if we have to go away for a while. She is a quiet pup but likes to join in the welcome home chorus when we come home. She walks fairly well on a leash but her Beagle nose does dictate her navigation. She loves to run in an open field that is fenced with the other dogs. She LOVES toys and empties the toy basket faithfully every single day. She likes to do zoomies in our fenced yard and loves it when we play “chase” with her. She can handle short car rides but does get car sick on longer trips. She now has prescription meds for her motion sickness but we have not had the chance to try it yet. She is showing her playful, curious, and affectionate personality now. Lucy needs a rescue-experienced adopter who is familiar with anxiety and its signs and symptoms. She will do best in a home with a fenced yard where alone time is very minimal and another dog would be a big bonus since she loves to cuddle with our senior dog. She is a gentle soul who has just gotten the hang of “being a dog”. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
