About this Dog: Name: Guppy, Puffer Fish, Anchovy Breed: Beagles Approximate Age:  9 weeks Gender: Male   Weight:  around 10 lb Adoption Fee:  $550 each Why in Rescue:  Breeder surrender Scroll down to learn more! Please fill out the adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs.  If clicking on the link doesn't work, just copy/paste into a browser to get to the application.  Guppy, Puffer Fish and Anchovy were surrendered by their breeder/farmer when they didn't find homes when they were 6-8 weeks old.  They are now neutered, microchipped, started on deworming, vaccinations, and heartworm preventative and ready to go to new homes.  If interested please fill out a pre-adoption application and we will select families to meet the group of puppies.  They are friendly, happy puppies who love to play.  They will need to be housetrained, and learn things all pups need to be taught like walking on a leash and what not to chew on! We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.     The adoption procedures are listed below.  Priority is given to potential adopters who fill out the application on our website.  If a listing is on the adoption websites, we are still accepting applications.  The listing is removed once we have received a sufficient number of applications or the pet leaves the shelter.   Adoption Procedures: 1.  Completely fill out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog.  Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2.  If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in.   3.  If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.  Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her.  In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day.   4.  If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application.  You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time.  Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us!   The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc All dogs are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue dogs.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a dog.  It also assists us in placing dogs in homes where both the dog and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog from Bichon and Little Buddies. The Dog Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS June 7, 2023, 7:46 pm

Story
Mel is a 9 yr. old rescue from Hazard, Kentucky. We got Mel from an employee of mine in Illinois who found him roaming free in their neighborhood. They could not keep him due to college beginning in the Fall. We've been very happy with Mel, for the last 9 years. However, we are retired now, and will be traveling extensively, so as hard as it is to re-home him, he deserves a more stable life. Mel's very loving, and friendly with everyone. He is well trained and completely house broken. Mel does bark initially when someone comes to the door or he see's a dog or person nearby our home. He loves to walk, run, play, and enjoys a short daily walk or a lengthy one. Mel is a very healthy, happy dog, and would make a great companion.

Story
Meet Dexter! Hi folks, Dexter here! I ended up in an Illinois shelter when my prior owner died. The good news is I came to Albert’s wearing my Green Bay Packers collar, so don’t hate! Go pack go!! I’m about 9 years old and although I had a big change in my life after losing my owner, I’m a really happy guy who usually has a smile on my face and a wag in my tail. I quickly made myself at home in my new foster home. Despite my age, I like to play with toys and will sometimes dig in the toy bin to find a toy to toss around. I also really like sleeping on the couch (and oh boy, can I saw some logs), going on walks and sniffing around the backyard. I’m a hound after all; I’ve got a good sniffer. I came to Albert’s pretty overweight, weighing 46 pounds, probably because my prior owner was not able to exercise me, but I’m doing well with my weight loss journey and have already lost 6 pounds, but should be closer to 30. My foster parents keep me on a strict diet and make sure I get exercise so I can become my healthiest self soon. I’ve also developed a dry eye condition with my left eye and need medication applied to my eye several times a day. Luckily, I’m a good boy about getting my meds. I currently live with my foster parents and human foster sister, who is 3 years old. I’m very tolerant of my foster sister hugging me and petting me. I love the attention! I also live with several other dogs and we get along fine, but I would also be happy being an only dog. I’m generally quiet in the house, except if I see something out the window that I need to bark at (which is rare). I do ok in a crate, but my foster parents say I don’t need one because I’m trustworthy when left home alone. I don’t chew on anything or have accidents; I mostly just sleep. I'm hoping I find my new home soon so we can get to know each other and you can get on loving me that much sooner! Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). Learn more about Albert's Dog Lounge, our mission, and adoption policies by visiting Albertsdoglounge.org. Begin your application process by copying this link into your web browser: https://www.albertsdoglounge.org/apply WI Dept. Of Agriculture License Number: 474085-DS Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
