Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700 Alex is a 4 month old Border Collie x Great Pyrenees mix who was surrendered to our rescue when he was deemed a bit too puppy-like for his former home. He has a gorgeous coat, a fabulous temperament, and a smile that lights up the room! He also LOVES water, as evidenced by one of his photos, and frequently jumps into the fountain in his foster mom's backyard. We expect Alex to be in the 50-60 pound range when he is fully grown but he could end up a bit bigger! We don't know who his Dad was, but we know Mom was a Pyrenees mix. Below is a note from Alex's foster. 'Alex is a wonderful puppy and is on the more mellow side of the puppies who have been in our house. He is a larger boy but he knows how to behave and keep his paws to himself. He already knows sit and is pretty good at the leash already. He gets along well with other dogs in our house and has been polite with the cat as well. He LOVES to sit in water, jump in water, be with water, basically anything to do with water, he is there. He loves to follow us around the house and sit with us while we work, which makes him a wonderful companion for just about any kind of family. Alex wakes up at around 7 AM and goes out to the bathroom before coming back inside for breakfast. While we work, he plays and naps on repeat. He likes to play with our other dogs as well so they romp around the house often. He has a snack around lunchtime before spending some time in the backyard, where he often jumps into the fountain. Alex does some zoomies with our other dogs before coming back inside for dinner and indoor play time. He likes to cuddle with us while we watch TV and then goes to bed in his crate to gear up for the next day of adventure! Alex is of course still a puppy so he is working on his teething and obedience, but he is a fast learner and wants to please his people. He will need a bit more work on being left home alone as he doesn't like being left behind, but as he gets older with the right training that will be gone with time.' Alex is an option for those who have owned a dog in the past 5 years, with priority given to those who have experience with larger breed dogs. Kids in the home should be over the age of 6.
